Slow Cooker Pumpkin Chili

This is one of my favorite recipes! And I can honestly say that it is the ONE cooking award that I have ever won!

What is Slow Cooker Pumpkin Chili?

About 6 years ago we had a neighborhood retreat where we all brought a Fall Chili recipe and they gave out prizes. So I brought my Pumpkin Chili ….. And. I. won. So fun!!

I have been promising the recipe ever since. And what I love about this recipe is that it is SUPER easy too. The pumpkin doesn’t really make the chili taste sweet but it gives the soup a nice thick texture.

Here’s how to make my Slow Cooker Pumpkin Chili: 

Slow Cooker pumpKin Chili Ingredients: 

1 can 26 ounces of tomato sauce

1 can 27 ounces of diced tomatoes

2 cans of kidney or black beans, drained and rinsed.

2 lbs spicy sausage

1 medium red onion

1 each – red, yellow and green bell peppers, chopped and diced.

1 can of green chilis (optional)

2 T. Chili Powder

8 oz. Pumpkin puree

Sour Cream, Chives and Cheese to garnish.

Directions to Make Pumpkin Slow Cooker Chili: 

• Brown the sausage with the chopped onions until meat is cooked through and onions are soft.
• Then return the meat and onions to the slow cooker.
• Then add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and rinsed beans to the meat mixture in the slow cooker.
• Add the green, red and yellow peppers, chili powder, pumpkin puree and mix it up and put it on HIGH setting for 4-5 hours.
• Serve into bowls and top with a dollop of sour cream and some chives. YUM!!

I shared our fall mantel last week and I love the way it looks! The DIY Yarn Pumpkin Garland was so easy and fun to make! You can use it in so many ways for early fall — on a mantel like I did, on a shelf, over a doorway, etc!

Colorful Pumpkin DIY Ideas

When we lived at daybreak I created a colorful pumpkin porch and it’s still my favorite! I spray painted pumpkins, created a DIY pumpkin garland for over the door and a DIY ombre pumpkin rainbow wreath. I have the details on those pumpkin projects on the post that is linked above!

DIY houndstooth pumpkin wreath

Take houndstooth material and create little houndstooth pumpkins! You can make them in any size you want. I made some small ones and created a warm and cozy pumpkin wreath!

DIY gold geometric pumpkins

Turn carvable pumpkins into gold geometric pumpkins. They look so pretty at night!

Embroidery Hoop and Paper Pumpkins

Turn embroidery hoops and pretty paper into the most adorable pumpkins. I used paper from my American Crafts line and I love the little house paper in that line!

Gilded Leaf Pumpkins

Gild fall leaves and decoupage them onto pumpkins for a fresh and beautiful take on fall!

3-D Pumpkin Art Wall

For this easy craft, I used dollar store frames which I spray painted, then cut foam pumpkins in half and mounted them inside the frames on scrapbook paper. I used command hooks so I didn’t have to put any nails in my wall!

Stacked Pumpkin Topiary

This is one of my favorite pumpkin tutorials. I painted pumpkins white and black, then stacked them to create this fun topiary!

Polka Dot Pumpkin Tutorial

Turn plush minky material into the softest pumpkins with this tutorial. I even made a giant one to use as a pumpkin pillow!

Gold Glitter and Grout Pumpkins

I covered foam pumpkins with a layer of plaster and then added gold glitter to create a concrete-looking pumpkin. I loved the contrast between the matte plaster an the sparkle!

Plaid Pumpkin and Ruffle Wreath

One of my favorite wreaths I’ve ever made! I used raw silk material to make the ruffles, then cut a foam pumpkin in half and decoupaged grey and white gingham fabric on top and ended with a silk bow! I might have to make a new one this year!

Ruffled Pumpkins

You don’t have to use traditional halloween colors when you are creating pumpkins! I used some of my favorite bright material to create these ruffled pumpkins and I love how bright and happy they all look together!

Dollar Store Crackled Pumpkins

This is an oldie but a goodie. Turn dollar store pumpkins into crackled pumpkins. You can paint the pumpkins white and put a color over the top so that the white comes through.

Fresh Sweater Pumpkins

Use inexpensive dollar store pumpkins and transform them into beautiful decor with thrifted sweaters! I need to make some PINK ones this year!

Painted Autumn Pumpkin Mantel

Another favorite! I took craft pumpkins, spray painted them white and painted wood letters that spell AUTUMN. I loved how simple it was on our fall mantel.

$30 Ceramic Candle Wall Sconces That Look Like Designer Lighting

One of my favorite things about fall isn’t the pumpkins or the changing leaves.

It’s the way our homes begin to glow again.

As the evenings get shorter, I find myself turning on lamps a little earlier, lighting candles while I make dinner, and creating those little pockets of warmth that make home feel extra cozy. I’ve always believed lighting is one of the easiest ways to change the feeling of a room, which is why I’ve wanted candle wall sconces throughout my 1932 Tudor since I found it.

The only problem?

My home still has its original lathe and plaster walls.

When I talked to my electrician about installing hardwired sconces, he explained that it would mean opening the walls, running electrical, repairing plaster, repainting, and paying for all of that labor. I knew it would be expensive before I even started shopping for fixtures.

Then I found the sconces I thought I wanted.

They were beautiful ceramic sconces with scalloped edges…and they were almost $500 each.

By the time I added the cost of two sconces, an electrician and repair work, I knew I needed another plan.

That’s when I stumbled across these ceramic candle wall sconces.

They’re only $30 each, and honestly? I like them even better.

Why I Fell in Love with These Ceramic Candle Wall Sconces

When the box arrived, I wasn’t expecting much.

For $30, I assumed they’d be lightweight and feel like a budget find.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The first thing I noticed was how substantial they are. They’re made from heavy ceramic with a beautiful glossy finish that reflects candlelight in the prettiest way. The scalloped edge and beaded detailing give them so much character, and they’re much larger than I expected at almost 15 inches tall.

Sometimes you open a package and immediately know you’ve found something special.

That was exactly how I felt.

They Look Like They Belong in My 1932 Tudor

Whenever I’m decorating my home, I always ask myself one question:

“Does this look like it belongs here?”

I don’t love filling my home with trendy pieces that I’ll be tired of next year.

I’d much rather buy something classic that feels like it could have been part of the house all along.

These ceramic candle wall sconces have that timeless feeling.

They’re simple.

Elegant.

Classic.

They don’t compete with the original character of my home—they complement it.

I hung two on either side of the mirror in my dining room, and the room instantly felt warmer and more finished.

The Secret Is the Battery-Operated Taper Candles

The sconces are beautiful on their own.

But the real magic happens when you add the candles.

Instead of using real taper candles, I found the prettiest battery-operated taper candles.

They have a warm brown wax finish that looks so beautiful against the creamy white ceramic.

The fluted sides give them a vintage look, and the flickering flame is incredibly realistic.

Most people assume they’re real candles until I pick up the remote.

And yes…

They come with a remote!

My Favorite Feature of Tese Remote-Control Candles Is the Remote

I simply grab the remote, turn them on, and the room instantly feels cozy.

The brightness is adjustable, so I can create a soft glow while we’re eating dinner or brighten them up a little if friends come over.

They also have built-in timers, so I can set them for two, four, or six hours.

They turn themselves off automatically, which saves battery life and means I never have to remember before going to bed.

It’s one of those little luxuries that makes everyday life just a little easier.

The Sconces Were So Easy to Hang

One of the biggest reasons I chose candle sconces instead of hardwired lighting was how simple they were to install.

No electrician.

No wiring.

No holes cut into my original plaster walls.

I used my favorite picture hangers instead of large wall anchors, and they were up in just a few minutes.

I Loved These Ceramic Sconces So Much I Ordered 8 More!

Originally, I only ordered two.

I wanted to make sure I loved them before buying more.

That lasted about a day.

After hanging them in the dining room, I kept walking back into the room just to look at them.

That evening, after dinner, I turned on the candles, sat down with a cup of tea, and realized how much the soft glow changed the feeling of the room.

Before I went to bed, I’d already ordered eight more.

Now I’m trying to decide where they’ll go next.

The hallway?

Our bedroom?

The living room?

Honestly…I want them everywhere.

Why I Love Layered Lighting

If there’s one decorating lesson I’ve learned over the years, it’s this:

Lighting changes everything.

When a room feels cozy, it’s usually because there are several different light sources instead of one bright overhead light.

I love mixing lamps, candles, picture lights, and candle sconces throughout my home.

The result feels softer.

Warmer.

More inviting.

Especially during fall and winter, I reach for cozy lighting long before I start decorating with pumpkins or garlands.

A simple glow can completely change the mood of a room.

Rechargeable Batteries Make The Sconces Even Better

One little tip before you order the candles…

I always use rechargeable batteries.

I’ve used them for years in twinkle lights, flameless candles, and seasonal décor.

They’re less wasteful, save money over time, and I always have a charged set ready to go.

These Ceramic Sconces are One of My Favorite Decorating Finds This Year!

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become much more intentional about what I bring into my home.

I don’t want more things.

I want better things.

There’s something special about pumpkin desserts – especially in the fall. I love walking into the house after being outside on a cool fall night and smelling pumpkin spice in the air.

Crockpot Pumpkin Pie Dump Cake

Raise your hand if you love pumpkin pie but don’t always have the time to make a pie. This punpmkin dessert has all of the taste of pumpkin pie without the work!

Pumpkin Pie and Cake in One

I love this dessert because it’s a cross between a pumpkin pie and a cake. The pumpkin filling is on the bottom which has the consistency of pie, and the top part of the dessert is more light and fluffy like cake. So it really is the best of both worlds!

Pumpkin Pie Dump Cake Takes 5 Minute Prep Time

Another reason I love this Pumpkin Pie Dump Cake is that it only take a few minutes to assemble. Then put the slow cooker on “low” heat and let it cook for 4 hours. I usually put it together around 2 in the afternoon and by 6 it’s ready! I also love that while it’s cooking it makes the whole house smell like pumpkin heaven!!

Let Pumpkin Pie Dump Cake Cool Before Serving

The middle of the cake will be the consistency of pumpkin pie. So when the edges of the cake start to brown, after about 4 hours of cooking on low heat, turn the heat off and let the cake cool. This will help the inside of the cake set up so that it is firmer when serving.

Serve Pumpkin Pie Dump Cake with Ice Cream or Whipped Cream

You can serve this cake by itself, or add ice cream, whipped cream and/or caramel sauce for a dessert that is sure to be a family favorite!

Equipment

• slow cooker

Ingredients

• 1 29-ounce can Pureed Pumpkin
• 1 cup Brown Sugar
• 3 t. pumpkin pie spice
• 1/2 t. salt
• 1 15 ounce yellow cake mix
• 1 stick (8 T.) butter, melted
• 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

• In a medium bowl, combine pumpkin puree, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice and salt. Mix.
• Spray crockpot liner and pour pumpkin mix into crockpot. Spread evenly.
• Sprinkle cake mix over the top of the pumpkin mix. Press the cake mix into the pumpkin mix with a spoon or spatula.
  
• Pour melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
• Sprinkle nuts on top.
  
• Put lid on crockpot and let cook for 4 hours or until edges brown. Turn off heat and let cake cool until warm.
• Serve alone or top with ice cream or whipped cream and/or caramel sauce.

The Great Pumpkin Halloween Porch!

Hi friends! It was so fun creating this “The Great Pumpkin” porch last weekend. I love Halloween and I always decorate a special porch for the holiday. I usually decorate a “themed” Halloween porch. In the past I have shared a “welcome my pretties” porch, “colorful Halloween”, “Witching Hour” Porch, “skeleton” porch and a “bat” porch! This year I went with a “great pumpkin” porch! Every year as a child I remember watching Charlie Brown’s The Great Pumpkin and that’s when I knew it was Halloween!

This is my favorite metallic spray paint. There are a few different finishes in this line — gold, silver and copper. The thing I love about this spray paint is that there are tiny bits of glittered in the paint. As you are spray painting, you can see the flakes sparkle and the finish is so rich and beautiful! I wanted to use this spray paint color because I knew it would match our porch lights!

I loved the idea of having pumpkins magically hanging in the air. $1 pumpkin pails were perfect. I spray painted the pails with the same copper spray paint.

One of my most viral Halloween posts is my Stacked Pumpkin Topiary. I made it about 6 years ago and this is the third home that it has lived at. It was time for a makeover. I took the black pumpkins and spray painted them to match the copper pumpkins so all of the pumpkins match!

I took the pumpkin theme and continued it to the garland that I strung over the door. It’s actually two garlands with the cutest velvet pumpkins in the same copper colors. I entwined the two garlands together and put it at the top of the doorway.

Take mums and extra pumpkins and fill in any open spaces. I also added flowers and pumpkins all the way down our porch stairs.

As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change, fall feels like it’s just around the corner!! One of my favorite ways to welcome the season is by sprucing up our front porch with festive Autumn decor.

Viral Hobby Lobby Stacked Pumpkins

While browsing through Hobby Lobby’s fall collection, I stumbled upon their stacking pumpkins, which have quickly become a favorite among home decor enthusiasts. These pumpkins come in a box of three, each a different size, making them ideal for creating a variety of arrangements.

Available in both white and orange, these pumpkins cater to different color schemes and styles. I opted for the white pumpkins and was lucky enough to find two boxes, allowing me to place one set on each side of our front door. The stacking design makes it so easy to store the pumpkins after fall because they nestle inside of each other and take up much less room!

Two Ways to Style Your Stacked Pumpkins

One of the things I love most about these stacking pumpkins is the flexibility they offer in decorating. There are two main ways you can use them on your porch. First, you can arrange all three pumpkins in a charming cluster on each side of your door. This creates a balanced and symmetrical look that’s both inviting and elegant.

Alternatively, you can stack the pumpkins on top of each other to form a pumpkin topiary. This method adds height and visual interest to your porch, making it a focal point for your fall decor. I chose the topiary style for my porch, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. The pumpkins look SO cute as they greet everyone that walks past our house. The pumpkins are pretty light. To make sure they don’t blow away during storms I added some glue dots between the pumpkins to hold the topiary securely together.

Adding Candy Corn-Colored Bows

To complete the look, I made couquette bows using the same candy corn-colored ribbon and added them to the top of each stacked pumpkin. This small detail really brought the entire porch together, tying the pumpkins, wreath, and garland into a cohesive and harmonious display. The vibrant ribbon not only adds a pop of color but also creates a unified theme that makes the porch feel thoughtfully decorated and ready for the fall season.

Creating a Candy Corn-Colored Fall Wreath

To complement the stacking pumpkins, I decided to craft a simple yet beautiful fall wreath. Using a few easy-to-find supplies, I was able to create a wreath that perfectly ties together the rest of my porch decor. Here’s how I did it:

Supplies:

• Wreath form
• Olive Tree Leaves
• One bunch of faux fall leaves
• Fall ribbon (Hobby Lobby has the most adorable ribbon in candy corn colors: orange, yellow, and red)

Creating the wreath was as easy as tying a bow. I started by wrapping the fall leaves around the wreath form, securing them with floral wire as needed. Once the leaves were in place, I took the candy corn-colored ribbon and tied it into a large, festive bow. I attached the bow to the top of the wreath, giving it a pop of color that complements the white stacking pumpkins. This wreath was the perfect finishing touch to my fall porch and added a personalized element to the overall design.

Layering Rugs and Doormats for Added Warmth

• Fall Plaid Rug

To make the entrance even more inviting, I layered a yellow and cream plaid rug with a pumpkin-shaped coir doormat. Both of these items are part of Hobby Lobby’s fall collection, which is currently on sale for 40% off. The plaid rug adds a cozy, farmhouse feel to the porch, while the pumpkin-shaped doormat ties in with the pumpkin theme. This combination not only looks great but also provides a warm and welcoming touch as guests step onto the porch.

Finishing Touches for a Festive Fall Porch

With the stacking pumpkins, wreath, and layered rugs in place, my fall porch was nearly complete. To add a cohesive look, I tied matching bows to the top of each stacked pumpkin. This simple addition brought the entire setup together, creating a polished and festive display that celebrates the best of the fall season.

I LOVE fall. There’s something so magical about this time of year! It’s the season of cozy sweaters, warm drinks, and time spent with loved ones around the fire. For me, fall is all about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere at home—a place where you can fully embrace the season’s charm and make memories with your friends and family. This year, I’m excited to share how I’ve added some simple yet impactful fall elements to our home, making it a cozy haven for these special autumn days.

I added a few simple elements to our home this year. I love lighting the candles at night, with the windows open letting the fall air inside.

Inside, I’ve also added some cozy touches to our bedroom. A cozy quilt and soft duvet cover are perfect to wrap up in for an afternoon nap or to read my favorite Outlander novels. I think a lot of people don’t think about decorating their bedroom for the seasons, but it is my favorite way to make our bedroom feel like a restful retreat!

I am in the process of transitioning three rooms in our home, I moved my large dining room table into what was my office. I painted it and I am turning that office into a formal dining room. That led me to move my office to our guest room upstairs. Flexispot send me a standing desk which I just put together yesterday. The new office/guest room is really coming together.

I also ordered some very beautiful triple pleated drapes which will go all the way across one wall of the room and really bring things together. The last thing I am doing is refinishing a small antique table and creating a cozy breakfast nook. I painted a bench I already had and I am sewing back cushions which will hang on the wall from a brass railing. I think it will be really beautiful!
