You’ve Been Spooked Halloween Neighbor Gift Idea

Have you ever been BOOed? It’s a fun little tradition that spreads Halloween cheer. Here are some fun printables to spread a little spooky spirit in your neighborhood!

Easy Halloween Neighbor Gifts

There’s a printable for the gift basket, a printable tag for the door and a printable instruction sheet. Just pick out a bucket or basket and fill it up with some Halloween items. Some ideas to put in the baskets are little flashlights, a garland, plates, cupcake liners — as well as candy too!

Print off You’ve Been Spooked Printables

Next, you’ll simply print a copy of the instructions, a gift basket tag and a door tag for two of your neighbors — or more if you want to get the “spooking” started faster! Include the door tag and instructions in the gift basket.

Make a Halloween Candy Charcuterie Board

To create the snack mix —

*Combine SkinnyPop popcorn in a large bowl.

*Add candy from the HERSHEY’S Shapes Variety Bag (I love the shapes in the variety pack and they have my favorite candies — peanut butter pumpkins and peppermint patty pumpkins — all I did was unwrap them and added googly eyes).

*Then add candy from HERSHEY’S Cat and Variety Bag.

*Mix everything together and drizzle white chocolate over the top.

*Divide popcorn mixture into smaller bowls, add one bowl to each tray.

*Then layer larger HERSHEY’S Halloween Full Size Variety Pack in each tray, along with smaller candies from the Cat and Monster variety bags.

*Put one of the instruction sheets inside and wrap the whole charcuterie board in cellophane.

*Add the “You’ve Been Booed” sign to the front!

Spread Spooky Cheer in Your Neighborhood

Next, spread some spooky cheer in your neighborhood by putting the You’ve Been Booed tray in front of the door, hang the “We’ve Been Booed” tag on the doorknob — ring the doorbell and run!! You will love seeing this gift idea spread from house to house this Halloween season! Thanks @Hersheys for helping us spread spooky fun in our new neighborhood!

Stacked Pumpkin Topiary DIY

This is one of my all-time favorite Halloween projects so I thought I would share it again. I am excited to put this up at our new home. You might know that I simply adore Halloween decor. So when one of the challenges this month from Lowes was Curb Appeal. I thought it would be SO fun to make something Halloween-ish for the front porch at the #1905Cottage. And since the decor over there is mostly yellow, I thought keeping the Halloween theme to basically black and white would be perfect.

So I headed over to Lowes. And I found their Halloween section. They had a HUGE bin of lighted pumpkins with different scary faces, and it made me think of making a Halloween topiary.

You see, I made another Halloween topiary a few years ago and it got damaged in my backyard shed, so I have been meaning to make another for quite some time.

Here’s how I made this easy Halloween project: 

DIY Jack-o-Lantern Topiary: 

Stacked Pumpkin Topiary DIY

Supplies: 

Halloween lighted pumpkins. I used 5.

A 1″ in circumference wood dowel

A pot

Flowers

Spray Paint (I used black and white)

Primer

Extension Cord

Directions: 

I spray painted three of the pumpkins white and the other two black. But first I PRIMED them.

I also spray painted the dowel black

Then I drilled 1″ holes in the pumpkins. I wanted each one to be tilted to each side, alternating. So I marked the spot with an sharpie and drilled.

Then I planted soil and flowers in the pot and put the dowel in the middle.

I alternated the pumpkins, white, black, white, black, white black. On the last pumpkin I didn’t put the second hold through the top, so the dowel rests against the inside of the top pumpkins. I hope that makes sense lol.

Then I threaded the lights down through the back of the pumpkins and plugged them into the extension cord. I taped the cords together with electrical tape so they wouldn’s show as much.

Light it up at night

And here is the Black and White Pumpkin Topiary at night. I just love it!!

Good Witch Tea Party!

I know I’ve mentioned before that I love the {Happy} side of Halloween.

I’m sharing this oldie but goodie today. I am updating it because I still think it is a great party to throw for your kids! Make spooky treats, create a witch umbrella to hang on your porch or inside and celebrate the sweet side of Halloween!

Good Witch Tea Party

I had such a fun time creating this little party for my girls and their friends. I had each of the kids come dressed up as a witch. They loved getting into the theme of the party!

Create Witch Hats Centerpiece and Place Cards

We spent the week before the party making the decorations! A witch hat centerpiece and little hat place cards! We also made paper cone party favors filled with treats that hung on the back of each chair.

We welcomed the little witches and had them decorate cookies!

Make a Hanging Witch to Welcome Guests

It’s so easy to make this hanging witch skirt! You start with an umbrella. Then hot glue black feather boas around the edge of the umbrella. Fill stockings with bathroom tissue wadded up and tie the stockings to the umbrella spokes. Add tulle around the stockings. I added Halloween socks on top of the stockings. Then either make shoes out of black felt or tie real shoes onto the stockings! So cute!!

Decorate Your Party Table

We put the party food on a built-in cabinet. I already had a picture of the kids hanging there. I cut out little witch hats, masks and a moustache out of black paper and put them on the picture to spookify it a little. Then I added a black wreath and a little paper banner to the nook.

We even Spookified the pictures in our little Family Picture Nook for the occasion!!

And we made some Festive Halloween toothpick Flags and Treat Toppers:

I love cute party food. And Halloween is the perfect time to whip up something adorable and tasty for a Halloween party or to take to your neighbors!

I was driving by Dunkin’ Donuts the other day and saw their cute spider donuts. It inspired me to make something similar at home.

I made TWO different sized spiders. One with regular-sized donuts and one with mini donuts. The regular donut spiders have ahead made out of a donut hole and dipped in chocolate. The mini donuts have a spider head made out of a Lindt truffle – YUM!

This is a fun food craft to make with your kids! There is no baking since you use already-made donuts. In minutes you can have some adorable party food.

Deliver some to your neighbors.

Add some little Halloween tags and take one to each of your friends and neighbors.

How to make Spider Donut Halloween Party Treats:

Supplies:

Donuts

Donut holes (or truffles if you are using mini donuts)

White frosting + food coloring

Orange mini M&M’s for eyes

Brown frosting

Directions:

Frost donuts

Add food coloring to frosting and frost donuts. Let frosting set.

Dip donut holes in chocolate

Dip donut holes in chocolate and let cool.

Frost spider legs

Take chocolate frosting and add legs on top of the orange frosting.

Attach heads to donuts

Put the donut holes or Lindt chocolate balls on top of the frosted donuts.

Add eyes

Put a dab of brown frosting on the back of each orange mini M&M and put it on the donut holes or Lindt chocolate balls.

This is one of my very favorite Halloween projects I’ve made. Simple foam pumpkins are spray painted black and white. Then we drilled holes through the bottom at different angles and put a rod inside! I still have the topiary and I plan on using it this year at our new #1891AvenuesCottage!

How to make a Halloween Basket Wreath

I love an easy wreath! And I especially love an easy Halloween wreath! When I was decorating for Fall I added a couple flat baskets to my mantel and piled some pretty pumpkins inside.

Flat baskets make great wreaths

So when I was thinking of easy wreaths to make for Halloween, the baskets kept popping into my mind. I thought they would be light and easy to hang on the door. There is a little bit of a lip so you can add things that rest inside (of course if you hang it up you do need to glue those things onto the basket). And I thought the shape would be good on a door.

Witch-themed Halloween wreath

So I got one out and experimented a little. My porch is witch-themed so I knew I wanted to do something with a nod to my theme.

Mod podge a piece of wood

I ended up using a piece of wood and mod podging music from a 1700’s opera about witches onto the wood. The thing that takes the longest is waiting for the mod podge to dry. I only mod podged the back of the paper onto the block. I didn’t mod podge the front. My experience with mod podge is that if you do mod podge the front of your paper it has a tendency to bubble up. If you just do the back of the paper, you can lay it on top of the wood and smooth it out and it will dry without bubbles.

Add a saying or numbers

Then I painted some paper mache numbers black and hot glued those on top.

Add floral

I layered a black flower behind the block.

Add a banner

It still needed something and I thought a banner would be perfect! The banner says SPELLS since it’s a witch-theme. I hot glue the first and last pennant onto the edges of the basket to keep them secure.

Hang it up with ribbon

Then the last thing I did was I used a piece of ribbon to hang it onto the door.

And within a few minutes I had a new wreath!

Give a flat basket a try! I got mine from Hobby Lobby. I actually think they are called tobacco baskets. You can use you 40% off coupon and it’s very affordable!

Home Haunted Home Halloween Pennant 

It’s almost October!!! And you know what that means – time to start decorating for HALLOWEEN!!! Instead of a traditional wreath, why not make a DIY Halloween Pennant? The beauty of this type of door hanging is that you can use heat transfer material to say ANYTHING that you want on your pennant!

I am so excited to share my Home. Haunted. Home pennant door hanging with YOU!! I designed the pennant after finding this cute Home Sweet Home rug at Target a couple of years ago!

Also – I love that this project isn’t the normal wreath that everyone hangs on their doors. AND, I love that they are so easy to store. You can slide the pennant off the dowel and put a new one on for a different holiday and store the flat pennant in a drawer or holiday box and takes up hardly any room.

You use heat transfer vinyl on the fabric instead of regular vinyl. It’s also hand washable which is nice.

Here is how to make this easy Home Haunted Home Halloween Pennant for your home:

Use your craft cutting machine to cut out the heat transfer material

I used my Cricut cutting machine to cut out the letters. The fonts are: franklin gothic medium for the HOME lettering and Haunted lettering is Autumn Chant.

Make your pennant ANY size you want!

You can make the pennants any size you want. These are 12 inches wide by 15 inches long. We hemmed the edges of these pennants.

You can make this pennant NO SEW too!

but if you aren’t handy with a sewing machine you can just cut out the shape and leave the edges and they will fray – which would be cool looking. At the top of the banner, you fold down a section of material to put the dowel through. You can sew it shut or even use a hot glue gun if you want.

Tie Ribbon on the Dowel

I tied some festive ribbon onto the end of the dowel and some twine to hang it up and voila – I have a new Haunted Halloween Door Hanging! Yay!

Lightweight alternative to a wreath

Daybreak can be quite windy at times, so I love a door hanging that is lightweight and won’t damage my door.
