I love decorating our home for Christmas. Each year, I choose a different Christmas theme, and this year I picked a whimsical gingerbread theme! So when Hobby Lobby contacted me about coming up with a DIY Christmas wreath, I was so excited to create something special. I headed to my local Hobby Lobby, where I had the BEST time exploring all the Christmas aisles. And guess what? Right now, all of Hobby Lobby’s Christmas Department is 50% off!

Let me show you how I created this adorable Gingerbread Christmas Wreath that’s perfect for adding a little sweetness to your holiday decor.

Gingerbread Christmas Wreath Supplies

I found everything for this wreath at Hobby Lobby, making it so convenient to bring my gingerbread vision to life! Here’s what you’ll need and where to find each item your Hobby Lobby store:

25-Inch Norfolk Pine Wreath
I picked up the most realistic evergreen wreath in the Christmas section. The lush, bouncy tips are perfect for creating a festive base.

Gingerbread-Person-Shaped Cutting Board
This adorable cutting board caught my eye in the kitchen Christmas decor aisle. It’s the perfect whimsical centerpiece for this wreath.

Krylon Decor Selects Satin Brown Boots Spray Paint
You’ll find a wide variety of spray paints, including the perfect gingerbread-inspired shade, in the craft supplies section.

Unfinished Wood Snowflakes
These wood ornaments came from the Christmas crafts aisle. They’re easy to customize and make adorable gingerbread “cookies.”

Ribbon Bundle
I fell in love with the ribbon bundles in the ribbon and fabric section. The colors and textures—like rickrack and cording—are perfect for a gingerbread theme.

Small Pearl Buttons
These tiny pearl buttons were in the sewing section and add the sweetest detail to the gingerbread centerpiece.

Other Supplies
Don’t forget your essentials, like a glue gun, glue sticks (or E6000 glue for a stronger hold), and evergreen pipe cleaners, all of which you can also find in the craft supplies section.

Supplies You’ll Need to Make a Tis Gingerbread Wreath

Here’s everything I used for this project:

Main Supplies:

• 25-inch Norfolk pine wreath
• Gingerbread-person-shaped cutting board
• Krylon spray paint
• One pack of unfinished wood snowflakes
• Ribbon bundle
• Small pearl buttons

Other Supplies:

• Glue gun and glue sticks (or E6000 glue)
• Evergreen pipe cleaners (optional) If you don’t want to use the pipe cleaners to tie the cutting board onto the wreath, you can also hot glue or use E6000 to glue the cutting board to the wreath.

Preparing the Gingerbread Cookies

The first step in creating this wreath is transforming the wood snowflakes into adorable gingerbread cookies. I used two coats of spray paint on one side of the ornaments, let them dry, and then flipped them over to paint the backs.

Once the snowflakes were completely dry, I used paint pens to draw fun snowflake embellishments.

I created two different designs and painted three snowflakes in each pattern. They turned out so cute—like little cookies fresh out of the oven!

Attaching the Gingerbread Centerpiece

To attach the gingerbread-person cutting board, I first wrapped the twinkle lights around the wreath, making sure they were evenly distributed. I secured the battery pack to the back of the wreath using an evergreen pipe cleaner. It’s easy to tuck the battery pack out of sight this way.

Then, I attached the cutting board to the center of the wreath. I used pipe cleaners on the back of the arms and legs, securing them tightly to the wreath’s wire frame. If you prefer a stronger hold, you can use E6000 glue, but keep in mind it takes 24 hours to set completely.

Adding Sweet Details

What’s a gingerbread person without buttons? I used wire cutters to remove the backs of some pearl buttons, then glued them down the center of the cutting board. These little details make the wreath feel extra special. Next, I hot-glued the snowflake “cookies” onto the evergreen wreath. I arranged them evenly around the greenery for a balanced look.

Finishing Touches with Ribbon

The final step was adding the ribbons. From the ribbon bundle, I chose about 12 pieces in different colors and textures. I tied each piece into a small knot and attached them to the bottom of the wreath for a playful, whimsical effect.

With the ribbons in place, I flipped the switch on the twinkle lights and hung the wreath in our gingerbread-themed kitchen. It adds the perfect amount of holiday cheer!

DIY Tissue Paper Holiday Trees

I love a creating a colorful mantel for the holidays! I’ve been obsessed with Hobby Lobby’s colorful trees for a few years. I decided to make some coordinating colorful tissue paper trees for our mantel.

Hobby Lobby Christmas Shop

I love seeing all of the Christmas and Holiday items at Hobby Lobby! This year there are so many beautiful items! There are gorgeous serving pieces, dishes, trees, ornaments, signs and anything you need to create a memorable holiday home! And everything is on sale too! I fell in love with this Christmas Tree sign. It’s the centerpiece of our holiday mantel and it looks so happy surrounded by the colorful bottle brush trees and my new tissue paper trees! I painted the trees colors that match the tissue papers I used.

How to make Tissue Paper Holiday Trees

These trees are so easy to make! You only need a few supplies and you can find them all at Hobby Lobby!

DIY tissue Paper Holiday Trees Supplies

• Holiday Tree Sign
• Tissue Paper (you can use any color you want! Hobby Lobby has a wonderful assortment of colors).
• Wood Dowels (these came in a package of 20)
• Wood Shapes (these shapes are in the same section as the dowels).
• Hot Glue Gun
• Glue Dots (optional)
• Stapler
• Templates (I created two sizes you can download for FREE).

DIY Tissue Paper Holiday Tree Directions

Lay the template on top of the tissue paper with the straight edge at the fold!

Trace the template with a pencil

Cut out the traced design

Do this 2 or 4 times, depending on how fluffy you want your trees to be!

Divide the trees in half. Open up the trees you just cut out and staple the center of the trees so you have two sections of trees.

Lay the first section of trees on your work surface, with the fold facing up. Hot glue a line of glue from the center of the trees down to the tree trunk.

Lay the wood dowel on top of the glue.

Hot glue a line of glue starting at the top of the tree, over the dowel to the bottom of the tree. Lay the second set of trees on top of the first section with the fold facing inwards. You want the folds next to the dowel so that the trees flare outward.

Hot glue the dowel with the tree on it onto the circle or square piece. I used a drill to make an indentation to hold the glue. You can do this or just use glue and hold it as it cools and it will stand up.

I used glue dots to close the gaps between the first set of trees and the second set. You can also use hot glue to do this. You might also need to glue the tops of the trees so they don’t gap.

How to Make Different Heights of Trees

I cut the dowels in half and used the smaller template to make smaller trees. But you can cut the dowels at different heights if you want all of the trees to be different heights

How to Print off the Tree Templates

Click on the link below and save the image to your computer. Then print off the templates. Cut out the shapes and you have templates that you can use to make the tissue paper trees!

Turn a Ceramic Village into a Gingerbread Village

‘Tis the season for festive transformations, and this year, I’ve taken my love for Christmas decor to a whole new level—turning a ceramic village into a whimsical Gingerbread Village. Last year, I shared my vibrant, hand-painted ceramic village.

But this holiday season, the inspiration came from the viral sensation of the Pottery Barn gingerbread village. Now, every nook and cranny of my village is adorned with sugary sweetness and holiday cheer.

The Gingerbread Galvanized Lanterns and Mini Houses

The gingerbread theme has taken over my Christmas decorating spree, starting with my galvanized lanterns and mini houses. In case you missed it, I documented the transformation of my galvanized lanterns into adorable gingerbread houses in a previous post (link here). I also got crafty with my mini galvanized houses, turning them into a festive gingerbread house wreath. Now, it’s time to share the joy of turning a plain ceramic village into a delectable Gingerbread Village.

Sprucing Up with Spray Paint and Paint Pens

To achieve this festive transformation, I stuck to the winning combination of spray paint and non-smudge paint pens that worked wonders on my galvanized lanterns and houses. However, this time around, I wanted to add a 3-dimensional element to bring the gingerbread magic to life.

Experimenting with Puffy Paint and Opting for Precision

Initially, I experimented with puffy paint to create intricate details on the ceramic houses. The idea was to replicate the icing and candy decorations you’d find on a classic gingerbread house. However, the puffy paint turned out to be a bit too thick for my liking, resulting in a somewhat sloppy appearance. Learning from this, I decided to switch gears and rely on the precision of paint pens for the finer details.

Infusing Personality with Finer Details

The transformation process was both joyful and therapeutic. I loved coming up with different decorating swirls and motifs. I have included a close up of the different houses details for inspiration. The paint pens allowed me to infuse personality into each miniature dwelling, turning them into unique gingerbread creations.

Snowy Accents with Puffy Paint

One of my favorite touches was using puffy paint at the tops of the houses to simulate a layer of snow. It added a delightful wintry element to the scene, making the village look like a magical, sugar-coated wonderland. The combination of the warm gingerbread hues and the snowy accents created a perfect balance of coziness and winter enchantment.

15 Themed Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas

Hi friends! Can you believe it’s Christmas time? it’s my favorite time of the year. One of my favorite way to celebrate Christmas is creating a beautiful tree for the holidays. I love creating a theme with a matching mantel too. I’ve been sharing my tree ideas for almost 15 years here at tatertotsandjello.com, so I thought it would be fun to round up the ideas and share!! I hope they give you some inspiration!

Colorful Disco Ball Christmas Tree

This year I went with a disco ball theme. I think disco balls are so festive. I created a disco ball wreath and added disco balls to my tree and also a disco ball centerpiece in our dining room!

Christmas Tree Mantel and Tree

Last year was one of my favorite themes. I took a Christmas Tree Farm from Hobby Lobby, painted it and made tissue paper trees. In the tree I added paper tissue balls.

Candy Cane Themed Tree

A classic candy cane themed tree is always a cute idea at Christmas time! I love the pops of red and white. I added a sleigh and pretty red and white merry christmas pillow!

Colorful Falalala Tree

A falalala tree is a fun theme. I found these signs and decorated the tree around them. I loved the plaid ribbon with all of the happy colors that matched the ornaments o the embroidery hoop wreath and bottle brush trees.

Joy to the World Tree and Mantel Theme

One of my very favorite themes. I created a Joy to the World mantel using a large branch and hanging embroidery hoops that say Joy to tThe World. I also created a large JOY sign and made these colorful wood slice snowflake ornaments

Santa North Pole Tree Theme

A Santa tree is sure to delight your family! I added these sweet Santa ornaments, created a SANTA saying in the middle of the tree and even added coal to the sleigh under the tree.

I’ll Be Home For Christmas Tree

This was such a fun one. I found paper mache houses. I painted them and added glitter. Then I put the houses in the tree and on the dining room table. I also created a Home for the Holidays sign that I put in the tree too.

Family Photo Tree

This was such a sweet tree. I painted wood frames white and added black and white family photos. I also stenciled the crate and put the tree inside.

12 Days of Christmas Tree

Another favorite. This 12 Days of Christmas tree was so fun to make! Giant candy canes and different sized packages with the number of each of the twelve days! Inside the packages are activities and treats!

Joyeux Noel Gold Themed Tree

Gold is always pretty for the holidays. I made this Joyeux Noel sign. Built a gold crate fir the treem=, spray painted an old door for the mantel and created gold fabric trees along with gold stockings this year.

Sunburst Christmas Tree

This year I was inspired by some sunburst ornaments from Ballard Designs. I made my own sunburst mirrors with popsicle sticks! I loved the natural elements in this tree.

Cottage Themed Tree

Black and white checked were the cottage theme of this tree the first year we lived in our cottage. I loved the tree tucked into the curve of our spiral staircase.

Pom Pom Tree

Last year I decorated an outdoor tree ad it made our back entrance so festive. I themed it my pom pom tree and I used pom pom yarn I found at JoAnn Stores and pink and white pom pom garlands. I felt so whimsical!

Merry Red and Turquoise Themed Tree

This year I matched my Christmas decor to my couch. I added red and turquoise ornaments with snowflakes to the tree and added red and turquoise pinwheels to the mantel that spelled MERRY,

Hello Christmas Tree

I loved our little entryway at the 1905 cottage. It was perfect for a little tree. This one was simple and went so well with the plaid pillows. I loved the dutch door and the glittering hello sign.

1891 Cottage Bright Holiday Tour

Hello friends!! It’s my favorite week of the year – it’s time for Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk Tour!! I look forward to this tour all year!

Ways to Bring Color to Your Home for the Holidays

I love color and I especially love bringing happy colors in for the holidays! My favorite color is PINK so you will find pink elements throughout my holiday home!

Holiday Home Front Porch

Welcome to our holiday porch! A touch of boho fun is added with these indoor/outdoor rugs. I love the pink color and the tans which match really well with our Serena and Lily hanging double chair.

A soft blanket so is perfect to wrap up in it while having hot cocoa and watching our downtown neighborhood!

Pink Holiday Wreath

My friend Laura from @roundwreathdotcom sent me this gorgeous Ice Queen wreath. It’s the centerpiece of my porch. I will be doing a giveaway with her soon. She makes the most amazing wreaths. I added some natural garland with a FLALALA banner at the top. My cute sled and my favorite wicker tree round out the porch.

Holiday Dining and Kitchen

Come inside! I added a sweet little village on our console table and a warm and fuzzy rug. Our dining area is lit up with this whimsical centerpiece.

I added some color to our front spiral staircase by adding my favorite colorful chunky stockings going upstairs!

Holiday Dining Room Centerpiece

I made this no-sew fabric runner and added pom poms to the ends.

Then layered a soft faux fur runner on top. This little sled is the centerpiece and layers of faux greens and twinkle lights make our dinners so warm and cozy for winter!

Colorful Holiday Village

Across from our dining table is this funny little nook. I haven’t known what to do with it since we moved in three years ago. This year I decided that it would make a magical Christmas village nook! I added garlands to the pretty bookcase and then painted a village set that I found at Hobby Lobby.

I have a post with all of the directions if you want to check it out — Colorful Christmas Village Nook! Then I put our sweet little Balsam Hill tree in front and it feels so magical all lit up at night!

Colorful Elements in Our Holiday Kitchen

I brought out my favorite Santa gnome for the holidays and put him in center display on our island. I love how he shine! Above our stove I created a vintage ornament wreath with ornaments that I sourced through our local KSL Classified App. These ornaments were the seller’s husband’s grandmother’s from the 1950’s! She was excited when I told her that I am going to hang them on a Christmas wreath!

A Hot Cocoa Cabinet

Our everyday dish cabinet is an old gun cabinet from the turn of the century. I love the details. For Christmas, I transformed it into a hot cocoa cabinet. I added my MacKenzie-Childs plates and mugs.

Our elf on a shelf lives there too!

A Christmas Santa Bar Cart

Next to the hot cocoa cabinet is our santa bar car. I display my santa mug collection here and it’s perfect for wheeling around when we have game night in our family room!

Christmas in Our Butler’s Pantry

Down the hallway to our butler’s pantry I added some garlands in our little mudroom section and then in the pantry are bright and colorful ornaments.

The wreath, garand and tree are beautiful colors and I think they play well off of the black and white theme in that little room. This is where our Christmas cookie station is!

Colorful Christmas in the Family Room

Right off of the kitchen is our little family room. When we moved in, the previous owners used it is a dining room but since it flows so well into the kitchen, I thought it was the perfect cozy get-together space. We built this electric fireplace and mantel and it’s my favorite to decorate for the holidays!

A Disco Ball Themed Mantel

I went with a disco ball theme this year on the mantel! For some reason disco balls seem so happy and remind me of the roller rink when I was in middle school. I created an easy Disco Ball Wreath and I have the tutorial for that if you want to make one!

A Colorful Vintage Tree

I love a colorful simple tree. This one is full of the happiest colored ornaments. I matched the ornaments to our rainbow striped rugs. So the ornaments are mostly yellows, oranges and PINKS! My favorite colors! I tied simple ribbon bow on the ends of the branches. And I also used my new candle lights!! I love the way the candles glow. The come with a remote so they are super easy to use. You can change the white colors, program with different modes and they even have timers. So fun! I matched the colorful ornament theme with a simple centerpiece using a beautiful rattan basket filled with ornaments and a matching rattan candle that smells so good!

Whimsical Tree Village in My Office

I even brought some Christmas color into my office. This is the original 1891 fireplace. I made these fabric trees and a matching wreath. I love working at my desk in front of the fireplace and seeing the festive colors! We have french doors between my office and the family room so I can see the mantel in my office and the mantel in the family room at the same time. It’s so magical!

Early Holiday Inspiration

Hi friends! How was your week? Can you believe that it’s almost November?? This year has flown by. This week I’m sharing some easy ways to get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas! The holidays are even more enjoyable when you are organized and have everything planned out ahead of time. You are going to LOVE these ideas that will save you time!

New Projects

This week I shared the easiest fall dinner idea.

This is the easiest fall dinner idea — Zucchette Pasta Bake. Full directions below

Did you know zucchette means small pumpkins? @traderjoes has this cute pumpkin-shaped butternut pasta right now. They also have a yummy autumnal havest creamy pasta sauce. And don’t worry if you aren’t a big squash or pumpkin-flavor fan, the flavor is so subtle and delicious! My kids loved it! Here’s how to make this easy dinner idea

Ingredients:

Traders Joe’s Zucchette pasta
Trader Joe’s autumnal harvest pasta sauce
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese

cook pasta in boiling water until al dente

pour pasta into a baking dish with a little olive oil on the bottom.

sprinkle pasta with Parmesan cheese.

pour pasta sauce over the top. I also added about 1/4 cup of water to the bottle and swirled it around to get all of the pasta sauce and poured the water over the top.

sprinkle shredded Colby Jack cheese over the top.

cook in a 35-degree oven until cheese is melted.

sprinkle with fresh basil (optional but so yummy)

enjoy!!

A New Adventure

I also started a new adventure as a real estate agent with an amazing Avenues business – City Home Collective! I spent a long time considering who I wanted to work with and I felt such a strong draw to City Home. City Home Collective approaches helping people find and sell their homes with such compassion and heart. They value relationships over transactions.

Colorful Holiday Bedroom Mantel

I just finished our bedroom remodel and I am loving having a real bedroom again! One of my favorite parts of the project is this little fireplace makeover! We took out the 90’s tan stone and replaced it with this hexagon black tiles. We also brought brought the tile higher up on the wall and put in a natural wood mantel! It’s our kitten’s very favorite spot!
