Warm and Cozy Fall Cottage Tour
Hello, friends! I’m so happy you’re here! If you are visiting from My Family Thyme, welcome! Isn’t Lynn’s fall family room so inspiring?? I’m jen from tatertots and jello. I’m a mom of 5 and I’ve been sharing DIY home and craft ideas since 2008. I am so thrilled to be joining in Kelly @thetatteredpew’s Blogger’s Best Fall Home Tour. The home’s so far have been STUNNING! So many amazing ideas! You can find the direct link to all THIRTY fall home tours at the end of my post!
Easy Fall Decorating Ideas
I am so happy to share some easy fall decorating ideas in our 1891 home. Today I am sharing our NEW main bedroom all decked out for fall as well as some ideas in other parts of our home. I love creating easy, inexpensive ways to make our homes and lives more beautiful. I hope you enjoy my tour!!
Fall Touches and DIY Ideas in our New Bedroom
We have been remodeling our home for about three years and I am happy to say that we are almost done! We just finished our main bedroom and it is such a warm and cozy retreat for us! Since our home is 131 years old, the room is a little funky. There’s really only one place for the bed to go and it’s a pretty tight space. So I created a built-in headboard to emphasize the height of the ceiling and to hang lights since our nightstands have to be so small to fit in the space, along with our king-size bed.
Adding Fall Elements on Our Headboard Shelf
I created a shelf above the bed to display seasonal items and for fall I love the look of natural texture. A woven basket which also is great for serving breakfast in bed! A natural wreath, a little olive tree, a beautiful candle and a fall sign add fall warmth!
Display a Fall Wreath
I hung a gorgeous fall wreath above our bed I love the way the colors POP against our black headboard. I change the wreath out as the seasons change.
Add Fall Textured Bedding and Pillows
The weather is starting to get cooler so I added some cozy bedding. The dark pink color in our quilt is my favorite and the velvet feels so cozy! I layered a plus throw and the faux fur pom poms are so pretty against the quilt. I switched out the light summer throw pillows for a patterned pillow that brings in the light and dark pink colors and the pattern is so fun! Then I brought those colors with velvet throw pillows. It’s the perfect place to curl up with a book in the evenings!!
Fresh Fall Flowers For a Bedroom
Who doesn’t love the look and feel of fresh flowers? I love the autumn hues of this inexpensive bunch I found at Trader Joes. Flowers in your bedroom make the room feel like a special retreat. I usually put our flowers on the curved dresser in our room but they feel extra special on our nightstand. I added a little pumpkin candle and I love the way it glows in the evening!
Bring in Cozy Throws
I love our curved boucle couch that is in the bay window of our bedroom. The texture is so soft and cozy and the addition of a couple soft throws makes it my favorite place to work on my laptop at night while watching our favorite shows. What shows are YOU loving now? We are so excited for the new season of Outlander and Yellowstone!
Display Pumpkins on Your Staircase
An easy way to bring fall into your home is adding some small pumpkins to your staircase! I love our spiral staircase and adding these little pumpkins feels so festive in our entryway!
Add A Dining Room Fall Centerpiece
I created a super easy dining room centerpiece with things I already had! I put a white blanket on our table. Then I put some Fabric Pumpkins on an elevated pedestal and added some textured pumpkins and candles! It feels so pretty!
Fall in Our Kitchen
I didn’t do that much in the kitchen. I added a paper bag wreath above the stove and a owl vase full of red branches on the stove. Lighting candles always feels so cozy!
A Fall Mantel
I love creating a pretty mantel for fall. This year I found this Hello Fall sign at Hobby Lobby surrounded by the most plush velvet pumpkins! Then I added some metallic votives and a DIY Yarn Garland.
It’s so easy to make!
Pottery Barn-Inspired Pumpkin Cloches
Another project I created this year are these Pottery Barn-inspired cloches! I put battery-operated candles inside and they are so pretty glowing at night!
Halloween on Our Porch
This year I decorated our porch for Halloween. I am in the process of writing up some posts on the DIY Tomato Cage Ghosts, Hanging Ghost Luminaries and Painted Ghost Doormat, but here is a little glimpse of our spooky cute porch! And here’s a little glimpse of an upcoming fall party!
