$30 Ceramic Candle Wall Sconces That Look Like Designer Lighting

One of my favorite things about fall isn’t the pumpkins or the changing leaves.

It’s the way our homes begin to glow again.

As the evenings get shorter, I find myself turning on lamps a little earlier, lighting candles while I make dinner, and creating those little pockets of warmth that make home feel extra cozy. I’ve always believed lighting is one of the easiest ways to change the feeling of a room, which is why I’ve wanted candle wall sconces throughout my 1932 Tudor since I found it.

The only problem?

My home still has its original lathe and plaster walls.

When I talked to my electrician about installing hardwired sconces, he explained that it would mean opening the walls, running electrical, repairing plaster, repainting, and paying for all of that labor. I knew it would be expensive before I even started shopping for fixtures.

Then I found the sconces I thought I wanted.

They were beautiful ceramic sconces with scalloped edges…and they were almost $500 each.

By the time I added the cost of two sconces, an electrician and repair work, I knew I needed another plan.

That’s when I stumbled across these ceramic candle wall sconces.

They’re only $30 each, and honestly? I like them even better.

Why I Fell in Love with These Ceramic Candle Wall Sconces

When the box arrived, I wasn’t expecting much.

For $30, I assumed they’d be lightweight and feel like a budget find.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The first thing I noticed was how substantial they are. They’re made from heavy ceramic with a beautiful glossy finish that reflects candlelight in the prettiest way. The scalloped edge and beaded detailing give them so much character, and they’re much larger than I expected at almost 15 inches tall.

Sometimes you open a package and immediately know you’ve found something special.

That was exactly how I felt.

They Look Like They Belong in My 1932 Tudor

Whenever I’m decorating my home, I always ask myself one question:

“Does this look like it belongs here?”

I don’t love filling my home with trendy pieces that I’ll be tired of next year.

I’d much rather buy something classic that feels like it could have been part of the house all along.

These ceramic candle wall sconces have that timeless feeling.

They’re simple.

Elegant.

Classic.

They don’t compete with the original character of my home—they complement it.

I hung two on either side of the mirror in my dining room, and the room instantly felt warmer and more finished.

The Secret Is the Battery-Operated Taper Candles

The sconces are beautiful on their own.

But the real magic happens when you add the candles.

Instead of using real taper candles, I found the prettiest battery-operated taper candles.

They have a warm brown wax finish that looks so beautiful against the creamy white ceramic.

The fluted sides give them a vintage look, and the flickering flame is incredibly realistic.

Most people assume they’re real candles until I pick up the remote.

And yes…

They come with a remote!

My Favorite Feature of Tese Remote-Control Candles Is the Remote

I simply grab the remote, turn them on, and the room instantly feels cozy.

The brightness is adjustable, so I can create a soft glow while we’re eating dinner or brighten them up a little if friends come over.

They also have built-in timers, so I can set them for two, four, or six hours.

They turn themselves off automatically, which saves battery life and means I never have to remember before going to bed.

It’s one of those little luxuries that makes everyday life just a little easier.

The Sconces Were So Easy to Hang

One of the biggest reasons I chose candle sconces instead of hardwired lighting was how simple they were to install.

No electrician.

No wiring.

No holes cut into my original plaster walls.

I used my favorite picture hangers instead of large wall anchors, and they were up in just a few minutes.

Originally, I only ordered two.

I wanted to make sure I loved them before buying more.

That lasted about a day.

After hanging them in the dining room, I kept walking back into the room just to look at them.

That evening, after dinner, I turned on the candles, sat down with a cup of tea, and realized how much the soft glow changed the feeling of the room.

Before I went to bed, I’d already ordered eight more.

Now I’m trying to decide where they’ll go next.

The hallway?

Our bedroom?

The living room?

Honestly…I want them everywhere.

Why I Love Layered Lighting

If there’s one decorating lesson I’ve learned over the years, it’s this:

Lighting changes everything.

When a room feels cozy, it’s usually because there are several different light sources instead of one bright overhead light.

I love mixing lamps, candles, picture lights, and candle sconces throughout my home.

The result feels softer.

Warmer.

More inviting.

Especially during fall and winter, I reach for cozy lighting long before I start decorating with pumpkins or garlands.

A simple glow can completely change the mood of a room.

Rechargeable Batteries Make The Sconces Even Better

One little tip before you order the candles…

I always use rechargeable batteries.

I’ve used them for years in twinkle lights, flameless candles, and seasonal décor.

They’re less wasteful, save money over time, and I always have a charged set ready to go.

Favorite Things Friday: My Favorite Finds for Women Over 50

One of my favorite parts of blogging has always been sharing the little things that genuinely make life easier, prettier, and more enjoyable. Before social media became what it is today, blogs were where we swapped recommendations with friends. We shared products we loved, decorating ideas, recipes, and little discoveries that made everyday life feel a little more special.

As I begin this new chapter, I wanted to bring that tradition back

The Wonder Oven Is Perfect for Empty Nesters

One of the biggest adjustments after becoming an empty nester has been changing the way I cook. I don’t need to prepare meals for six anymore, and I definitely don’t want to heat up my full-sized oven for one or two servings.

That’s why I’ve been loving this adorable Wonder Oven.

Not only is it incredibly cute sitting on the countertop, but it’s also surprisingly versatile. It air fries, bakes, toasts, reheats, and cooks small batches much faster than a traditional oven. It’s become my go-to for lunch, roasting vegetables, warming leftovers, or making a quick dinner without the extra cleanup.

If you’re cooking for one or two people, I honestly think it’s one of the handiest appliances you can own.

My Rechargeable Candle Warmer Lamp

I’ve always loved burning candles because they instantly make a home feel cozy, but lately I’ve found myself reaching for my rechargeable candle warmer even more.

Instead of burning the wick, the warming bulb gently melts the wax and fills the room with fragrance. The one I’m using has several brightness settings, so it doubles as a beautiful ambient lamp in the evenings.

I love that I don’t have to remember to blow out a candle, and my favorite candles seem to last much longer.

It’s one of those little luxuries that makes everyday life feel just a little bit calmer.

An Affordable Lip Gloss That Rivals My High-End Favorite

If you’ve followed me for very long, you know I’ve been loyal to Buxom lip gloss for years.

Recently I picked up Revolution’s Pout Bomb Plumping Lip Gloss, and I was honestly surprised by how much I liked it.

It gives that same glossy, fuller-looking finish with a comfortable plumping effect, but it costs a fraction of the price. It has quickly earned a permanent spot in my purse.

I love finding affordable beauty products that perform like luxury brands because they prove you don’t always have to spend more to get great results.

Two Pieces I’ve Been Reaching for Again and Again

There are two fashion favorites I keep grabbing this summer.

The first is my Mother jeans. I’ve talked about these before because they’re truly worth the investment. The fit, stretch, pocket placement, and quality are unlike anything else I’ve found, and they hold their shape beautifully year after year. I’ll be linking my favorite styles in my LTK so you can see exactly which pairs I wear most often.

In your 50s, it’s time to stop apologizing for buying good jeans. Buy the inexpensive top. Invest in the jeans that make your butt look amazing. I carry my laptop almost everywhere, whether I’m heading to a coffee shop, filming content, or meeting clients.

This padded laptop sleeve has become one of those purchases that I use every single day.

It protects my computer without adding a lot of bulk, and the soft gingham pattern makes me smile every time I pull it out of my bag. It’s practical, simple, and exactly the kind of organizing product I appreciate because it solves a problem without overcomplicating things.

My Favorite Little Self-Care Routine

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that self-care doesn’t have to mean an expensive spa day.

Sometimes it’s as simple as slowing down for an evening.

One of my favorite rituals lately has been putting on the Mediheal Hyper Hyaluronate sheet mask, slipping into my leopard robe, making a cup of tea, and watching a movie.

Those quiet moments help me recharge after a busy week of work, remodeling projects, and everyday life.

Remodeling, Real Estate, and the Farmers Market

This weekend is going to be a busy one.

I’m hosting an open house tonight, spending time working on projects at the Tudor, and hopefully wandering through the farmers market on Saturday morning. There’s something about fresh flowers, local produce, and strolling through the market that always inspires me.

How to Make a Tissue Paper Heart Tree Centerpiece

Here’s how to make this easy centerpiece idea!

Use Branches

To create the tree, use real or faux branches. I had a olive leaf garland that I found on sale, so I just cut that apart to make branches. You can cut some branches from a tree in your yard or use faux branches. Find a container to use. I used a simple white vase. Then put your branches in your vase.

Cut Tissue Paper Hearts

I used two different colors of PINK hearts for my tree. I used about 8 layers of tissue paper and cut out three different sizes of hearts out of both colors of the pink tissue paper. But you can use ANY color or multiple tissue paper colors for your project. White would also be beautiful!

Attach the Hearts to Your Branches

Once I had the hearts cut out, I used hot glue to attach the hearts to the branches. If you don’t want to use hot glue you can use glue dots or even a dot of regular white glue.

Distribute the Different Sized Hearts on the Tree

I used the largest size of hearts first. Once I had those attached, I worked my way through the hearts by ize, ending with the smallest size hearts. I love using tissue paper for this project because the tissue paper is so thin and the light comes through the tissue paper hearts which I think is so pretty!

Display Your Tissue Paper Heart Valentine Tree

This valentine tree is so fun as a centerpiece for a coffee table or dining room table, but it would also be so pretty on a kitchen counter or island or even on a entryway console or bedroom dresser. The possibilities are endless!

The best part about this craft if you probably already have all of the items needed to make these cute hearts! Just cardboard, yarn and a hot glue gun and you can make these festive yarn-wrapped hearts!

30-Minute Valentine’s Day Craft

The best part of this easy craft is it’s so fast! In 30 minutes you can have several heart-wrap cardboard hearts to use! And your kids will love making them too. I used a glue gun to keep the yarn on the curved edges of the hearts but you can use a glue stick too if your kids want to make some!

Yarn-Wrap Cardboard Hearts Can Be Used For Valentine’s Day Projects

Once you have a few hearts made, either use them by themselves on a table like I did. Or you can glue them onto ribbon to create a Valentine’s Garland. Sprinkle them throughout your home on shelves or add them to a wreath!

How to Make a Yarn-Wrap Heart Valentine’s Day Centerpiece

I used the yarn-wrapped cardboard hearts to create a sweet little Valentine’s Day centerpiece on our dining room table. This is how I created this easy centerpiece idea:

• I added some pretty yarn to the bottom of the jars.
• Then I added fairy lights.
• I put a heart from my Pebbles Avenues Line on little houses and put a house in each jar.
• Then I added a couple of the yarn-wrapped hearts to each jar.
• The last thing I did was tie some red and white ribbon on each jar and put them on cake stands in the middle of our table.
• I sprinkled more of the yarn-wrapped hearts around the jars on the table!

Yarn-Wrap Valentine’s Day Heart Tips

Here are a few tips I found while making these hearts.

Start Each Yarn-Wrap Heart

Add a dab of glue to the center of each heart and start wrapping the heart by wrapping the yarn tightly and closely together in one direction.

Turn Heart and Start Wrapping in Different Direction

Once one section is covered, turn the heart and put a dab of glue at both ends of the heart and start wrapping in that direction. The hot glue (or glue from glue stick) will hold the yarn in that new direction.

Keep Turning the Cardboard Heart Until Covered

Keep turning the heart and adding glue as you turn until the heart is covered with yarn.

Add More Yarn to Sparse Sections

After the heart is covered, see if there are sections that need a little more yarn so that none of the cardboard is showing through. Add more yarn to places that need more coverage.

Add Glue and Cut Yarn

Once the heart is covered, add a dab of glue under the yarn strand and cut it right next to the glue you added to neatly finish off each yarn-wrapped heart.

Make an Easy Giant Christmas Bow. Turn inexpensive table runners into a show-stopping giant Christmas bow with this easy step-by-step tutorial.

How to Make an Easy DIY Giant Christmas Bow (Using Table Runners!)

For years I’ve loved the look of giant Christmas bows — they’re whimsical, oversized, and look like something straight out of a holiday storefront window. They make such a statement whether you hang them on a front door, over a fireplace mantel, or even on a Christmas tree. But every time I looked up a tutorial, they seemed complicated and SO expensive. Most of them call for yards of fabric, interfacing, stabilizer, or pricey materials I didn’t want to buy. And this tutorial is NO SEW!!! I wanted something simple, affordable, and easy to make, so I decided to come up with my own version — and I’m obsessed with how it turned out!

They just have the best selection for everything — not only Christmas décor and crafting supplies, but also Christmas entertaining. Their aisles are filled with greenery, ornaments, ribbons, runners, bells, entertaining essentials, baking supplies, and tableware. And because their Christmas department is 50% off right now, it’s so easy to pick up everything I need for holiday projects without running all over town. It’s truly one-stop Christmas magic.

Why I’m Using Table Runners for This DIY Giant Christmas Bow

As I wandered through the Christmas department looking for fabric, I spotted the Christmas table runners — and instantly knew they were the perfect solution. They’re long, fully hemmed, sturdy, structured, and come in the cutest patterns. Even better? They were $10.99, but with the Christmas sale at 50% off, they came to $5 each. Instead of spending $60+ on materials, I made this entire giant bow for around $25 — and it looks so high-end. Truly the easiest shortcut ever. I used the plaid version, but there are a few different patterns to choose from!

Giant Christmas Bow Supplies

• 5 Table Runners
  • 1 for the bow top
  • 2 for each of the long tails (4 total for the tails)
• Medium-gauge wire
• Hot glue gun + glue sticks
• Zip ties (optional)

Make the Top of the Bow

Step 1: Thread Wire Through Both Long Seams

• Cut tiny holes at the top and bottom of each long seam, only through the back side of the seam.
• Next, make a small loop at the end of your wire so it doesn’t snag and flatten it so it is as small as possible..
• Thread wire through each seam, leaving about 3″ sticking out on both ends.

Step 2: Shape the Bow Loop

• Flip the runner to the back.
• Fold both long edges toward the center.
• Twist the wire ends together to attach the ends together.
• Flip it back over to the front.

Create the Bow Center

Add a piece of material in the center of the runner to create a bow shape.

Step 3: Cut an 8″ Strip From One of the Tail Runners

• This becomes your bow “knot.”

Step 4: Finish + Wrap the Center

• Fold raw ends under and glue.
• Wrap around the bow center and glue on the back.

Make the Long Tails

I wanted the tails to be as long as my doorway, but you can use only ONE runner per tail if you don’t need as long of tails.

Step 5: Glue Two Runners Together Per Tail

• Create two long tails (two runners each).
• We will hide the seam will be hidden later.

Step 6: Attach Tails to Bow

• Gather the top of each tail.
• Hot glue them to the back of the bow.

Hang Your Giant Bow

Now hang up your bow where you want to display it – on top of your doorway, on a wall or on your tree!

Step 7: Attach the Top of the Bow

• Use wire, ribbon, or zip ties.
• I threaded a 10″ wire piece through the back and twisted it onto the screw above my door.

Step 8: Secure Each Side

• Now poke wire through the top corners of each bow loop.
• Next, Attach to screws/hooks (or branches if you’re hanging it on a Christmas tree).

Attach and Drape the Tails

Step 9: Create Cascading Sections

• Add a zip tie wherever you want a draped ribbon “tier.”
• Now attach that zip tie to your garland, hook, or branch.
• Repeat 2–3 times to create a soft cascading effect.

Step 10: Hide the Attachment Points

• Blouse the fabric over each zip tie to keep the drape looking smooth and natural.

Trim the Tails

Step 11: Even Out the Lengths

• Because of the cut center strip, your tails won’t match at first — trim them to be even.

Step 12: Cut the Tail Shape

• I cut mine into a V-shape, but diagonal or straight works too.

Coordinating Porch Decor

Step 13: Add Greenery Garland

• Mine is from the Hobby Lobby Christmas department. I layered the pine Norfolk garland and the Cedar Garland. Along with Twinkle Lights! And I added some brown ball picks that reminded me of gingerbread houses!

Step 14: Hang a Gingerbread-Themed Wreath

• Wreath + gingerbread cutting board = Christmas aisle.
• “Gingerbread cookies” = wooden snowflakes painted like cookies in the craft section of the Christmas Department.
• Wire from the ribbon dpartment.

Step 15: Layer a Buffalo Plaid Rug

• Festive red + white buffalo check rug — which is also from the Christmas department.

Step 16: Paint a Galvanized House Into a Gingerbread House

• Paint one of the galvanized Christmas houses with craft paint for the cutest porch accent. I’ve linked a sweet Gingerbread House below.

Whimsical Holiday Home Tour with Gingerbread Houses & DIY Decor

This holiday season, I’m thrilled to invite you into my home for a whimsical holiday home tour with DIY Christmas and gingerbread ideas! This year, I’ve gone all-in on a gingerbread theme to transform our space into a cozy and festive Christmas dream. Let’s dive into all the gingerbread-inspired ideas!

A Gingerbread Kitchen Wonderland

In our kitchen, the gingerbread theme comes to life with warm and cozy gingerbread touches. I started by transforming galvanized houses into a charming gingerbread village. These hand-painted houses are perched on our kitchen shelves surrounded by a blanket of faux snow and accented with twinkle lights, creating a magical glow.

Above the stove, I hung a cheerful Gingerbread Cookies sign that sets the tone for the space. On the kitchen hood, I added a show-stopping DIY gingerbread wreath. The wreath features a large gingerbread man, which I crafted by painting a gingerbread-shaped cutting board, and I adorned it with painted wood snowflakes and battery-operated lights for a cozy and festive touch.

A Festive Christmas Dish Cabinet

In the kitchen, I repurposed a vintage gun cabinet, adding modern tile for a fresh, updated look, and installed it as a stylish storage solution for cups, glasses, and dishes.

For the holiday season, I transformed it into a festive Christmas dish cabinet. I brought out my collection of Santa mugs, Christmas plates, and red bakeware, creating a cheerful display. To add an extra festive touch, I lined the shelves with holiday McKenzie-Childs tartan napkins, making the cabinet a charming focal point in the kitchen.

A Plaid Christmas Kitchen Nook

Adjacent to the kitchen, our dining nook is dressed in cozy plaid. A tiered tray filled with festive treats and ornaments sits atop a tartan throw, creating a warm and inviting holiday scene.

Across from the nook is our little reading corner, where I added some mini Christmas trees, a festive pillow, and another tartan throw. This cozy spot is perfect for sipping hot cocoa and enjoying a holiday book.

Gingerbread-Themed Christmas Tree

The centerpiece of our holiday decor is our main Christmas tree, decked out in all things gingerbread. I crafted DIY gingerbread house ornaments and added velvet bows in warm, rich tones.

Gingerbread-shaped ornaments complete the look, turning our tree into a sweet and whimsical focal point. It’s a gingerbread lover’s dream come true!

Colorful Gingerbread Village Mantel

The mantel is another area where the gingerbread theme shines. I painted colorful gingerbread houses that line the mantel, adding a playful and cheerful touch.

A Norfolk pine garland draped across the mantel is adorned with velvet bows and faux candle lights that mimic the flicker of real flames. The combination of greenery, soft lights, and bright gingerbread details makes this space truly magical.

Gingerbread-Themed Dining Room Glow

In the dining room, I created a stunning DIY gingerbread village centerpiece. Painted and decorated gingerbread houses sit on cake plates of varying heights, surrounded by paper trees and twinkle lights.

A lighted branch centerpiece in the middle adds height and an ethereal glow. Seeing the dining room illuminated in the evening is a highlight of the season, making it the perfect spot for festive dinners with family and friends.

And on the buffet, behind the table, I added some sweet Christmas decor. I love this little mirror.

Sparkling Disco Ball Tree

One of my favorite additions this year is our DIY disco ball tree. Adorned with shimmering disco balls, it’s a modern, playful twist on holiday decor. To tie the look together, I added a pinkish mauve ribbon that complements the color of the rug and brings a cozy warmth to the sparkling display.

When the sunlight streams through the windows, it dances off the disco balls, creating a magical, light-filled moment that never fails to make me smile. It’s a glamorous yet cozy addition that perfectly complements the rest of our holiday theme.

Spiraling Staircase Showstopper

Our spiral staircase is dressed to impress this year with festive garland. I added velvet ribbons, gilded branches, and wooden ornaments to create a cohesive and elegant look. This eye-catching display wows visitors the moment they step into our home and ties together the gingerbread theme with a touch of classic holiday charm.

I love decorating our home with inexpensive ideas that make a big impact. One of my favorite projects to bring the spirit of Christmas into any space is DIY paper bag snowflakes. They are easy to make, customizable, and absolutely stunning. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a beginner, these snowflakes are a perfect addition to your holiday decor.

Festive Paper Gingerbread Snowflakes Anywhere

You can make these snowflakes to decorate almost any space in your home. Hang them over your dining table, above your mantel, or in your entryway. I hung mine over our front door, adding a whimsical touch. Just be sure to keep them dry if displayed outdoors on a covered porch.

A Craft I Love

I’ve been making paper bag snowflakes for years, and this time, I added a gingerbread-inspired twist. The charming details made them extra festive, and I love how they turned out!

Snowflake Designs

Here are the snowflakes before I hung them up!

Gingerbread Snowflake Supplies

Gather these simple supplies to make your snowflakes:

• Large paper bags
• Glue sticks or hot glue
• Scissors
• Clear fishing line
• A white paint pen

Choose a Snowflake Design

Start by deciding on your snowflake’s look. Add gingerbread-style details, like dots and squiggles, with your paint pen.

Prep the Paper Bags

Cut 12 paper bags using your design. Stack them neatly and take one bag from the stack.

Glue the Bags

Apply glue across the bottom and center of the first bag. Lay the next bag on top, aligning the edges. Repeat for all 12 bags.

Assemble the Snowflake

Pull the first bag up and glue it to the twelfth bag to form a circle.

Add a Hole for Hanging

Punch a hole at the top of the snowflake for hanging. Reinforce with tape to prevent tearing.

Finishing Touches

Once assembled, add extra details with your paint pen to personalize your snowflake.

Display and Enjoy

Hang your snowflakes using clear fishing line. They look beautiful above tables, mantels, and doorways!

I love this time of year. The weather is beginning to cool down and fall is just around the corner. One easy way to bring fall into your home is by creating some pretty pumpkins! Over the years I’ve shared so many DIY pumpkin tutorials. I thought it would be fun to round them all up into one post so you can see the different ideas and pick your favorite pumpkin to make!

Here are a few of my favorite pumpkin tutorials I’ve shared!

Yarn Pumpkin Garland

I shared our fall mantel last week and I love the way it looks! The DIY Yarn Pumpkin Garland was so easy and fun to make! You can use it in so many ways for early fall — on a mantel like I did, on a shelf, over a doorway, etc!

Colorful Pumpkin DIY Ideas

When we lived at daybreak I created a colorful pumpkin porch and it’s still my favorite! I spray painted pumpkins, created a DIY pumpkin garland for over the door and a DIY ombre pumpkin rainbow wreath. I have the details on those pumpkin projects on the post that is linked above!

DIY houndstooth pumpkin wreath

Take houndstooth material and create little houndstooth pumpkins! You can make them in any size you want. I made some small ones and created a warm and cozy pumpkin wreath!

DIY gold geometric pumpkins

Turn carvable pumpkins into gold geometric pumpkins. They look so pretty at night!

Embroidery Hoop and Paper Pumpkins

Turn embroidery hoops and pretty paper into the most adorable pumpkins. I used paper from my American Crafts line and I love the little house paper in that line!

Gilded Leaf Pumpkins

Gild fall leaves and decoupage them onto pumpkins for a fresh and beautiful take on fall!

3-D Pumpkin Art Wall

For this easy craft, I used dollar store frames which I spray painted, then cut foam pumpkins in half and mounted them inside the frames on scrapbook paper. I used command hooks so I didn’t have to put any nails in my wall!

Stacked Pumpkin Topiary

This is one of my favorite pumpkin tutorials. I painted pumpkins white and black, then stacked them to create this fun topiary!

Polka Dot Pumpkin Tutorial

Turn plush minky material into the softest pumpkins with this tutorial. I even made a giant one to use as a pumpkin pillow!

Gold Glitter and Grout Pumpkins

I covered foam pumpkins with a layer of plaster and then added gold glitter to create a concrete-looking pumpkin. I loved the contrast between the matte plaster an the sparkle!

Plaid Pumpkin and Ruffle Wreath

One of my favorite wreaths I’ve ever made! I used raw silk material to make the ruffles, then cut a foam pumpkin in half and decoupaged grey and white gingham fabric on top and ended with a silk bow! I might have to make a new one this year!

Ruffled Pumpkins

You don’t have to use traditional halloween colors when you are creating pumpkins! I used some of my favorite bright material to create these ruffled pumpkins and I love how bright and happy they all look together!

Dollar Store Crackled Pumpkins

This is an oldie but a goodie. Turn dollar store pumpkins into crackled pumpkins. You can paint the pumpkins white and put a color over the top so that the white comes through.

Fresh Sweater Pumpkins

Use inexpensive dollar store pumpkins and transform them into beautiful decor with thrifted sweaters! I need to make some PINK ones this year!

Painted Autumn Pumpkin Mantel

Another favorite! I took craft pumpkins, spray painted them white and painted wood letters that spell AUTUMN. I loved how simple it was on our fall mantel.

Easy Scrap Wood Pumpkins

Take scrap pieces of wood and turn them into cute pumpkins! n easy and inexpensive idea.

Elevated Toilet Paper Pumpkins

Transform toilet paper into the cutest pumpkins for fall in FOUR different shapes and customize them for YOUR decor!

As leaves cascade from trees in hues of red, orange, and yellow, there’s a sense of wonder that fills the atmosphere. Capturing this natural beauty and bringing it indoors is a delightful way to celebrate the season. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create your very own felt leaf beaded garland—a charming craft project that allows you to customize the colors to match your fall decor.

Supplies You’ll Need:

1. Wood beads (how many depends on the length you want your garland to be.)
2. Twine or string
3. Felt sheets in various fall colors (red, orange, yellow, and brown)
4. Hot glue gun and glue sticks
5. Leaf template (download our free template)
6. Scissors
7. Optional: Regular glue for a kid-friendly version

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before diving into the crafting process, gather all the necessary materials and set them up in a clean, well-lit workspace. Make sure your felt sheets are large enough for the leaves you plan to create and that you have a variety of beads to choose from.

Step 2: Download and Cut the Leaf Template

We’ve created a free leaf template to make this project even easier for you. Download and print the template. Then, carefully cut out the leaf shapes. These templates will serve as a guide for creating your felt leaves.

Step 3: Trace and Cut Your Felt Leaves

Place the leaf template onto your chosen felt sheets and trace around it with a pen or chalk. Repeat this step for as many leaves as you’d like to include in your garland. Once traced, carefully cut out the felt leaves along the marked lines.

Step 4: Add Beads for a Touch of Elegance

Now, it’s time to add the beaded accents to your felt leaves. Heat up your hot glue gun and prepare to attach beads to each leaf. Place a small dot of hot glue on the backside of a leaf and press a bead onto it. Continue this process, arranging beads in various patterns or styles on each leaf. Experiment with different bead sizes and colors to achieve the desired look.

Step 5: Create the Beaded Garland

To assemble your garland, cut a length of twine or string to your desired length, leaving a little extra for hanging. Using your hot glue gun, attach each felt leaf to the twine. Be sure to space the leaves evenly along the twine. This process not only secures the leaves but also allows you to adjust their positioning to your liking.

Easy Ways to Create a Warm and Vibrant Fall Mantel

Choose A Focal Point

I found this beautiful Hello Fall sign. The style is beautiful and simple and I love that simplicity of the sign can be used in so many different styles. It’s perfect for our simple cottage style.

Add Fall Color and Texture

When I was looking through the fall pumpkin selection, I fell in love with these cozy, plush, velvet pumpkins! They come in a few different sizes. The bright jewel tones are so beautiful for fall! Look at the shades of yellow, greens, oranges, reds and pinks. So pretty!

Incorporate Natural Elements

When I think about fall colors, I think of the leaves changes. I found these amazing tree branches in the fall floral section. I love the way they look draped along the mantel.

Add a Fall Garland

Echo the colors in the mantel by adding a coordinating garland. I decided to make a yarn pumpkin garland using yarn that I matched to the velvet pumpkins. The full tutorial for the yarn pumpkin garland is below.

Add Candlelight for Warmth

I love candles, especially in the fall. I found these mercury glass votives last year at Hobby Lobby. There is a great selection of votives in the fall shop that you can choose from. There is something so warm and cozy about candles in the fall.

How to Make a DIY Yarn Pumpkin Garland

Here’s how to make this easy fall garland!

DIY Yarn Pumpkin Garland Supplies

Here what you need to make this easy yarn garland

• Yarn for the pumpkins – I used four different colors that match the velvet pumpkins.
• Twine or a Bead Garland – I used a plain bead garland from the Fall Department.
• Pipe Cleaners – I used tan pipe cleaners to mimic the look of pumpkin stems.

Choose Your Yarn

I matched the yarn to coordinate with the gorgeous velvet pumpkins. You can use any color yarn you want that goes with your home decor.

How to Create the Yarn Pumpkins

• Wrap yarn around your four fingers 75 times.
• Gently take your fingers out and lay the wrapped yarn on your work surface.
• Cut the Yarn that connects to the large yarn ball.
• Cut a 6-inch section of yard.
• Lay the yarn ball on top of the 6-inch piece of yarn, with the yarn laying under the two openings in the yarn ball.
• Tie the 6-inch section of yarn around the yarn ball in a knot. Make sure to tie it tightly, that makes the yarn contract, forming a ball shape.
• Take one pipe cleaner, fold it in half. Lay the folded “v” over the knot on the yarn ball. Tie the pipe cleaner onto the yarn ball and make a knot.
• Trim the excess yarn from the knot.
• Twist the pipe cleaner and make a curve at the top about 2 inches on top of the yarn ball.
• Create as many pumpkins as you need for your garland. I created three pumpkins per color for 12 pumpkins total.

Tie Pumpkins Onto Twine or Bead Garland

Now you will tie the pumpkins onto the twine or bead garand. I measured my garland and attached each pumpkin about 3 inches apart from each other.

How to Attach Pumpkins onto Garland

Measure where each pumpkin will attach and wrap the pumpkin onto the twine or bead garland by wrapping the top of the pipe cleaner onto the twine or bead garland about twice and then cut the excess pipe cleaner. Twist the cut edges at the top to hide the edges.

If you don’t have a mantel, don’t worry! These mantel tips are just as cute on a shelf or bookshelf! You can also make a yarn pumpkin garland to go around a doorway or your front door!
