1905 Duplex Update

I’ve been spending time with my mom this week working on the 1905 duplex. It’s looking so cute. We are going to rent it out for a while until the renters move in and I will share a link to it as soon as listing is live! Super bright and colorful and such a happy space, it’s been really fun to work on this 1905 historic property. We did a lot of renovation, including taking out the original cabinets and opening up the kitchen we added warm walnuts countertops, gold hardware, and Industrial faucets that looks so pretty.

We added black and white tiles to the kitchen to add to the Vintage vibe. Another thing that we added was dishwashers which really updates the property. We also added washer and dryers which are so nice to have for people who are staying long-term and short term. Here’s what it’s looking like so far:

The Ultimate Mother’s Day Gift Guide for the Traveler!

While most of us have not been able to travel for awhile, hopefully soon we will be able to plan all of the trips we put off during Covid! Right before the pandemic hit I was able to visit England and Scotland on a girls trip with my mom and sisters. It was SO much fun! Here are some of my favorite things that save me time and are so useful while traveling!!

Waterproof Kindle — $129+

Kindle now has a version that is waterproof! This is perfect for the mom who wants to take it to the beach! Kindles are also great for reading on planes. Instead of having to turn on the overhead light which can be annoying to your seat mate, Kindles have a back light which glows and makes reading at night so easy!

Mom can keep her passport in a safe place, along with her other important credit cards and identification with this clever wallet and it comes with a matching luggage tag too!

Ugg Dakota Slippers — $47.99+

These Ugg slippers are comfortable for traveling or staying home. They have a water-resistant upper and a rubber sole. The pom pom on top adds a cute touch! These are my favorite footwear to wear on the plane.

A travel shawl is a great gift idea. Mom can wear it as a sweater everyday or keep it in her travel bag and get it out on a cool flight to keep her warm.

12-piece Makeup Brush Set with Case — $8.99

This 12-piece makeup brush set has all of the brushes mom needs plus it comes with a matching holder she can pop into her travel case. And the price at $8.99 is amazing.

Cosmetics Train Case — $24.89

This cosmetics train case will hold all of mom’s makeup and cosmetics. There are multiple pouches and compartments so everything stays in place. I love being organized while traveling. No more rummaging around in my makeup bag looking for that certain tube of lipstick!!

Travel Humidifier and Diffuser – $14.99

Mom can take this tiny travel humidifier and diffuser and use her oils to relax on her trip. Some of my favorite oils are orange, lemon and peppermint!

Outlast Makeup Setting Spray — $7.49

Makeup Setting Spray is great for travel. It moisturizes your face and sets makeup in place. This is so great to keep makeup in place in hot places where your makeup otherwise melts off and also keeps your makeup moisture in place while flying.

Travel Throw and Pillow — $26.45

This micro plush travel pillow and blanket is perfect for the mom that travels. It comes in a case which she can use as a pillow, or unzip it and inside is a blanket! I never travel without this!

Picnic Basket Backpack — $45.89

This picnic Basket Backpack is perfect for the active mom. She can pack a picnic with all of the goodies. There are compartments inside the bag for everything and there is also a folding table that can be set up once she gets to her picnic spot! I keep this in my car and it’s great when we get take out and want to stop at the park to eat!

I am so thrilled to be here again to share something pretty with you all today. Mother’s day is only 2 days away and it’s a BIG day as we celebrate the most important woman in our lives.

If you have not found the perfect gift for MOM yet, I will show you how you can make these pretty amazing wine bottle vases in no time for your MAMA.

Are you ready to see how I created this beautiful gift?

First you need to dig out 2 empty wine bottles from your recycling can ( or any other long neck bottles would be perfect )

Other things you will also need are:

– 2 different color spray paint

– rubber bands

– colorful ribbon to embellish

– fresh flowers

I chose white and ocean blue spray paints for my project. I really loved these colors together.

1. I spray painted both bottles, one with white, one with blue spray paint. I let it dry completely.

2. Once the paint was dry, I pulled on a handful of rubber bands for each bottles. The painted bottles looked great already but I wanted to create some sort of design on them to make them more unique. As you see on the picture below, there was no particular order that I followed with the rubber bands. They were randomly placed on the bottles. I sprayed the bottles again, but this time I chose the opposite color for each bottles.

3. I let the paint dry completely and once everything was super duper dry I slowly started pulling the rubber bands off of the bottles.

Easy enough, right?

I really loved how these bottles turned out.

For embellishment, I used pretty strawberry pink ribbons on the bottles.

I put fresh TULIPS (check out more gorgeous shot of these tulips HERE ) into the vases.

I created a super cute MOTHER’S DAY PRINTABLE CARD to go with these vases to get the look I wanted.

I really believe that homemade gifts are worth a thousand times more than the most expensive gifts!

They are made with LOVE and are given from the bottom of our hearts.

I hope I inspired you to dig out some wine bottles from the garage!

Thank you so much for reading

AND

a huge hug for Jen to share her space with me today!

Have a fabulous Spring to Everyone and Happy Mother’s day to All the Awesome Moms out there!

Mother’s Day is coming up soon!

Kirkland’s contacted me and asked me if I would curate a Mother’s Day Gift Guide from their online site – I was so excited!!

As I was looking at Kirkland’s website – there were SO many products that would make great Mother’s Day gifts! I had a hard time deciding which were my favorite. Here are a few that caught my eye:

This Sunburst Mirror combines a couple of elements that I love – cottage and coastal. I think it would make an amazing gift for mom.

This Hammered Glass Bottle is such a cool alternative to a plain vase. Add some flowers and mom will be amazed!

These Paneled Wall Hooks are so pretty and would be great in an entryway or in almost any room of your mom’s or YOUR house.

How pretty are these Colored Glass Lanterns? They come in a few different colors.

Another one of my favorites are these Glass and Wood Hurricanes. Look at the fun colors they come in. So pretty!

This is something that I own and love! It’s a mirror PLUS a jewelry holder. You just open the mirrored door and inside are compartments for all of your jewelry.

And what mom wouldn’t love an adorable Polka Dot Gardening Gift Pack. So fun!

I might also be a little obsessed with this Greek Key Blanket. How cozy AND chic!

And here’s something really fun – a Family Tree Picture that you can personalize with pictures of your own family. Every mom or grandma would love that!

How adorable is this little terrarium? All you need to do is add a succulent and hang it in front of a window. It brings some greenery into the home. Love.

Aren’t those fun?
