I am sure you have seen sugar scrubs all over the internet over the past few years. I have too! I’ve never tried making any before, although I love facial and body scrubs. The other day my daughter’s friend, who was moving, gave her a HUGE container of coconut oil from Costco. We wondered what to do with it. Then Hayley said – I am going to make sugar scrub. What a great idea! This is a recipe she whipped up!
You can make this scrub in ANY fragrance
Another thing that is great about this sugar scrub recipe is you can make it ANY fragrance you want with essential oils. We’ve been HUGE fans of Young Living essential oils for years because they really help with our anxiety. So we have a big box of essential oils. We decided to make a batch with lemongrass essential oil which smells AMAZING. But other essential oils that would be fabulous are lavender, peppermint, orange, grapefruit, or they also have essential oil blends that are wonderful and save money because they have different essential oil combinations in one vial. Some of my favorite essential oil blends are the Christmas Blend and the Citrus Fresh blend. You can also diffuse these instead of candles and your home smells wonderful.
This is a fun craft to make with teens or tweens. They can whip up a batch of sugar scrub and give it to their friend as a birthday or holiday gift! It’s really fun to make!

The EASIEST 3 Ingredient Sugar Scrub Recipe! Make a sugar scrub for yourself or as a gift in minutes! Sugar Scrub is a great item to keep in your shower to exfoliate your skin!
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut oil
- 2 cups sugar
- 15 drops essential oil
Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine the coconut oil and sugar. Stir to combine.

Add 15 drops of essential oil. Stir well.

Check the texture of the sugar scrub. You want the texture to be moist and grainy. If the scrub is too wet, add additional sugar until you get the consistency you want.

Put the scrub in a container with a lid to keep it fresh. Mason jars work great.

Add a tag and give it as a handmade gift.

NOTE - you can use any essential oil that you want to customize your scrub for yourself or as a gift.
