How to create a fall mantel two ways! Take some of your favorite fall items and repurpose them in new ways to change up your fall mantel each year!

26!! That’s the number of bags of decor and supplies that I dropped off to our local thrift store last weekend! We just moved and our new home doesn’t have a garage or much storage! It really made me evaluate what I wanted to store at the new house.

Create a Fall Mantel with Some of the Same Items
I decided to create a mantel using my favorite fall decor. And while I was working on it, I styled our mantel at the Daybreak house in two ways with mostly the same items!
I love creating something new each year for fall. But I also love using projects that I have made over the years in a new ways.

Mantel 1 — Warm and Rustic Mantel with Pumpkins

Create a Centerpiece
The first mantel I styled centered around a frame that I stained walnut and actually used in my Fourth of July Mantel. I backed the frame with burlap material.
Add a Wreath

I created a paper leaf wreath using my Pebbles paper line. Then I put the wreath over my letter board and added a fall saying for fun!
Fill the Shelf or Mantel in with Seasonal Items

To add some fall cheer I added a pumpkin garland to the mantel. I’ve been using this garland in different ways for probably 10 years.
Layer Fall Items at the Base of the Mantel

Under the mantel I added an AUTUMN sign and a little footstool and plants. the AUTUMN sign is one of my favorite things. I love making giant typographical signs.
Mantel 2 — Light and Airy Fall Mantel

A Mirror Adds Light to a Mantel

I hung a mirror above the mantel. I love the way it reflects light in the room. Using mirrors in my home is a way that I brighten up my home. I probably have 8 different mirrors throughout our home.
Neutral Fall Elements

Using neutral elements for fall lets you celebrate the season and it works well if you aren’t ready to bring in the dark colors of fall or if you have decor that doesn’t work with fall colors.
Repurpose Fall Items in New Ways

I made some white sweater pumpkins out of dollar store foam pumpkins and donation sweaters. I love being able to use items over and over again.
Make an Easy Wreath for Fall

Wreaths are another thing I love to create for fall. This one was made with paper from my Pebbles This is Family line. Instead of using a craft machine, I created a pattern of a leaf and traced it onto the paper and then cut the leaves out and created a fall wreath.

I am SO excited to show you our mantel at the new house. It’s original to the 1891 house and really cute and quirky. It will be so fun to restore and share. I hope you will follow along with our 1891 Cottage.
