5-minute t-shirt neckline refashion. I go through project phases I think. A few years ago I wanted to refashion my entire wardrobe. And since then I haven’t really refashioned or sewed much. But last week when I was in Texas I saw this t-shirt at the airport and LOVED it. I am all about mexican food and I just had to have that shirt. Nevermind that I can’t wear high collared shirts (I feel like I am going to choke in them lol).

So when I cam home I decided that I would cut the neckline into a deeper oval. And now I think the shirt is perfect for me!

It’s super easy to do. There is no sewing involved. Here’s how to alter a t-shirt neckline:

1. Try the shirt on and decide where you want the new neckline to fall. Mark that spot with a pin or write on the shirt lightly with a pen, right above where you will make the cut.
2. TIP – make the neckline a little higher than you think you want. It’s easier to go back and make the neckline bigger, than try to make the neckline higher later.
3. Use GOOD scissors. As you can see in the photos I started off with some cheap scissors and ended up using my good fabric scissors – they make a much smoother cut on the fabric.
4. To make the scissors cut as smoothly as possible, start cutting at the top of the front, cut through the collar ribbing and then hold the fabric that you just cut with one hand and pull the fabric taut as you cut. This will let you cut in a straighter line without as many jagged edges.
5. Once you cut all the way along the front, smooth the t-shirt and cut the same line along the back, so both sides match.
6. Then wash and dry the t-shirt and the neckline should roll, making it look more finished.
7. If the neckline is still too high, follow the neckline along and cut off as much as you need to so you get the effect you are going for.

The 5 minutes I mentioned does not include the washing and drying time (just in case you were wondering LOL)

And I didn’t have anyone in the house to show you how the shirt looked when it was done so I had to take some selfies – sorry about that haha!

How to Create a Bullet Journal

Cover Page

Start with a beautiful cover page to set the tone for your journal. I drew the year “2025” in bold numbers and added a delicate bow for a whimsical touch. Feel free to let your creativity shine by using metallic watercolors or adding stickers and embellishments. This design was inspired by Brigid Carey Creates.

First Page: Introduction

On the first page, include a photo of yourself taken on January 1st with your journal. This is a special way to mark the beginning of your 2025 journey.

Recap of 2024

Dedicate a page to reflecting on the past year. I created a spread to list my all-time favorite things, including songs, colors, activities, and food. On the next page, I highlighted my favorite things from 2024, such as TV shows, products (like my beloved Buxom lip gloss), and favorite places to shop. ATF page inspired by Bling Bling on Pinterest.

Goals for 2025

The next two pages are for setting goals. I added a big bow at the top and watercolored it for an extra splash of color. Write down your aspirations and dreams for the new year to keep yourself motivated.

Memories from 2024

Reflect on your achievements and growth from the past year. I included prompts like “What did I achieve?” and “How did I change from 2024 to 2025?” Decorate this spread with drawings or watercolors to make it visually appealing.

Books to Read

Create a page dedicated to your 2025 reading list. I painted books and listed titles I want to read throughout the year. This is a fun way to stay on top of your reading goals.

January Inspiration

For January, I painted cozy illustrations like a fireplace, tea, and blankets. This page captures the essence of my intentions for the month: relaxation, self-care, and productivity.

Intentions for 2025

On the next two pages, write down your intentions for the year. I added boxes beneath each intention to expand on specific goals and plans.

Monthly Introduction

Start each month with a decorative page. For January, I used a fireworks theme to celebrate the new year. Add tabs to the edges of the pages for easy navigation between months. The January layout was inspired by @bulletwithe.

Daily Boxes

Design a spread for daily entries. I drew boxes for each day of January and decorated the first two pages with a disco ball, the next two with trees, and the last two with a forest theme. The disco ball image was inspired by @erikabeeswax.

These daily boxes are perfect for jotting down quick notes or highlights from each day.

Monthly Wrap-Up

End each month with a summary page. For January, I included sections for books I read, home projects, favorite movies, songs, and TV shows. This is a fun way to reflect on your month and document your favorite moments.

Year-End Reflection

Reserve the back of your journal for a 2025 wrap-up. This space is perfect for reflecting on your growth and accomplishments, adding memorabilia, and celebrating the year’s highlights.

DIY Halloween Gingerbread Village

Last year, I chose a gingerbread theme for my holiday decor, and it was such a delight! I shared all kinds of gingerbread tutorials that you all loved, like how to create gingerbread houses, garlands, and themed ornaments. (scroll down to the bottom of the tutorial to HOP over to see these gingerbread projects.) This year, I thought it would be fun to take that gingerbread theme and give it a spooky twist for Halloween by creating a DIY Spooky Gingerbread Village. These little haunted gingerbread houses are perfect for adding a spooky-yet-sweet touch to your Halloween decor!

Easy and Fun Supplies for Your Spooky Village

One of the best things about this project is how simple it is to put together! You don’t need a ton of fancy materials or complicated tools. Here’s what you’ll need to create your own spooky gingerbread village:

• Black spray paint (or pre-painted black houses)
• White paint pen (fine tip recommended)
• Black paint pen (if you want to add eyes to your ghosts)
• Small light-up houses (The ones I used are already painted black and are in the holiday area of Hobby Lobby) but you can also use white houses and spray paint them black. I included links to these as well.
• Timer lights to use with houses that don’t have lights inside of them. Just add one of these lights and set the timer so your houses will light up!

I love that these supplies are so accessible, and you might already have some of them on hand from other DIY projects.

Make It Spooky!

The first step in making your gingerbread village spooky is switching up the classic color palette. Instead of painting the houses brown, we’re going for a dark, eerie look by painting them black. If you’re lucky enough to find houses that are already black (like the ones I used from Hobby Lobby), you can skip this step! But if you’re starting with white or unpainted houses, simply give them a couple coats of black spray paint.

Next comes the fun part—adding spooky details! After your houses are painted and dried, grab your white paint pen and start outlining the gingerbread designs just like you would on a traditional gingerbread house. You can add rooftops, windows, and even faux frosting swirls. To make things extra spooky, think about including little elements like spider webs, tiny ghosts, or gravestones in your design. You can also attach small plastic spiders, skulls, or other eerie embellishments to your houses for added creepiness. Let your imagination run wild—this village is meant to be haunted!

Using a Paint Pen for Fine Details

For creating detailed lines and intricate patterns on your gingerbread houses, I love using a paint pen. Paint pens are fantastic because they allow you to have a lot more control than a traditional paintbrush, especially when working with smaller surfaces like the tiny windows or intricate details of the houses. They come in a variety of widths, from fine to thick, so you can choose the one that works best for your project. For my spooky gingerbread village, I used a fine-tip paint pen to get those crisp, clean lines that make the white stand out against the black background. Aand don’t worry if your lines are not straight, imperfections show that this is handmade!

If you’re new to paint pens, they’re super easy to use! Just give them a shake, press the tip to get the paint flowing, and start outlining. Don’t worry if your lines aren’t perfect—it adds to the whimsical, homemade feel of the village.

How to Fix Mistakes

Mistakes happen! But don’t worry, if you mess up a line or accidentally smudge the paint, it’s easy to fix. While the paint is still fresh, grab a damp paper towel and gently wipe away the paint where you made the mistake. You can start over without much hassle. The great thing about this project is that imperfections can add to the spooky, hand-made charm. And since you’re working with a white paint pen over black paint, any slip-ups can be quickly corrected. Just make sure you’re patient and allow your design to dry before handling the houses again.

Built-in Lights with Timers!

One of my favorite features of these black village houses is that they come with built-in lights! Even better, they have a built-in timer. You can turn them on using the “timer” setting, and the lights will stay on for six hours before automatically shutting off. Every night, your spooky gingerbread village will light up, casting an eerie glow that’s perfect for Halloween nights. You don’t even have to remember to turn them off—how easy is that?

If you’re buying similar houses that don’t come with built-in lights, you can still create a similar effect by placing battery-operated tea lights inside or even small string lights to illuminate the village. I’ve included these in the supplies as well.

Add Your Own Spooky Touches

Once your gingerbread houses are all decorated, you can place them together to create a whole spooky village scene! To make your village even more Halloween-ready, consider adding some creepy accessories. You could place small fake cobwebs across the rooftops, tuck in tiny ghost figurines, or even add mini gravestones around the houses for that ultimate haunted look. Little plastic spiders or bats would also look fantastic hanging from the edges of the roofs or resting on the windowsills.

Feel free to personalize your village to match your style—whether you want something more whimsical or eerie, the choice is yours!

DIY No-Carve Monogram Pumpkin. Create a stylish, no-carve monogram pumpkin for fall using gold thumbtacks and decoupaged florals cut from napkins—perfect for adding a personal touch to your seasonal decor!

DIY No-Carve Monogram Pumpkin is the Easiest Pumpkin Craft

Fall is all about pumpkins! Whether you’re decorating your front porch, adding a touch of fall to your mantel, or looking for a fun crafting activity, pumpkins are the ultimate fall decor item. Over the past 17 years that I’ve been blogging and creating content, I’ve crafted literally hundreds of pumpkin projects. From painted pumpkins to fabric-covered pumpkins, I’ve tried it all. But this project? It’s one of my favorites! Not only is it super simple and quick to make, but it’s also a perfect craft to do with family or friends. I recently made these DIY no-carve monogram pumpkins with my mom and sisters, and we had the best time together. If you’re looking for a fun, personalized fall craft that requires minimal supplies, this is it!

Six Best DIY Pumpkin Crafts

And today I am joining five friends who are sharing the prettiest pumpkin to make! Be sure to scroll down and PIN the tutorials to make later!

Supplies You Will Need

One of the best parts about this DIY project is how few supplies are needed. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Faux pumpkin
• A napkin with a design you love
• Matte Mod Podge
• Gold thumbtacks
• Pencil

That’s it! These are probably items you already have around the house or can pick up at your local craft store. It’s budget-friendly, which makes it even better.

Step 1: Trace Your Monogram

The first step is to trace the letter you want to monogram on your pumpkin. You can either freehand it or print out an example of the letter to trace. I like to use a straight edge for any straight parts of the letter and something round, like a cup or small plate, for the curves. Here’s a helpful tip: don’t center the letter! When you place your pumpkin on the floor or a surface, the top part of the pumpkin is the most visible. To ensure your monogram is seen, trace the letter slightly higher than the center of the pumpkin.

Step 2: Apply the Thumbtacks

Once your letter is traced, it’s time to start applying the thumbtacks! This step is incredibly satisfying. I’ve found that it’s easiest to center the thumbtack on the lines instead of trying to line up the edge of the thumbtack with the line. This technique makes the lines appear much straighter. Another tip – to make it easier to control, you can put the pumpkin between your knees to steady it while you insert the thumbtacks (see my cute mom below).

Start at the top of your letter and work your way down and across. You can choose between two different methods for applying the thumbtacks:

• Uniform Rows: Follow the traced line and apply the thumbtacks in straight, even rows. Place the second row so that the edges of the thumbtacks just meet.
• Mermaid Scale Rows: Start with one row of thumbtacks along the traced line. Then, for the second row, slightly overlap the first row, giving a layered “mermaid scale” effect.

Both methods look beautiful, and you can decide which one you prefer! In the photos of my pumpkins, you’ll see that one of the “J” monograms has straight, uniform rows while the other “J” features the mermaid scale look. Both give a unique touch!

Step 3: Cut and Prepare the Napkin Design

Now that your monogram is done, it’s time to move on to the decorative part of the pumpkin. Pick a napkin design that you love. Florals work beautifully for this project, but any design will do. Before you cut out your design, be sure to peel off the backing of the napkin so you’re left with the top, printed layer.

Once you have peeled the napkin, carefully cut around the design. If you’re working with florals, cutting around the individual flowers and leaves gives the pumpkin a more intricate and delicate look.

Step 4: Apply the Napkin with Mod Podge

With your cut-out napkin design ready, it’s time to adhere it to your pumpkin using Mod Podge. Here’s a key tip: use matte Mod Podge instead of glossy. Matte Mod Podge dries clear, while glossy can leave a shiny residue if any goes outside the edges of your napkin.

Start by applying a thin, even layer of Mod Podge slightly smaller than the napkin cutout. Press the napkin onto the pumpkin, smoothing it out as you go. Then, fold back the edges of the napkin, apply more Mod Podge to the pumpkin’s surface, and press the edges down. This ensures that the entire napkin is securely adhered and lies flat on the pumpkin.

Repeat this process for all of the napkin designs you want to apply, whether it’s one large design or a few smaller ones placed around the pumpkin.

Step 5: Let It Dry and Enjoy!

Once you’ve finished applying the thumbtacks and napkin designs, let your pumpkin dry completely. It usually takes a few hours for the Mod Podge to dry, but once it’s set, you’re left with a beautiful, personalized pumpkin that’s perfect for fall.

I love how versatile this project is! You can create a monogram for each family member or experiment with different napkin designs for a truly unique look. The combination of the gold thumbtacks and the delicate napkin art adds a touch of elegance to your fall decor.

A Fun Craft for Kids and Friends

One of the things I love most about this project is that it’s perfect for a group craft. Whether you’re doing it with your kids, friends, or family, it’s an easy, fun, and mess-free activity. Imagine hosting a fall girls’ night and everyone going home with their own personalized pumpkin! Or, this could be a sweet gift idea for someone with a fall birthday or a thoughtful present for a teacher.

Final Thoughts

Pottery Barn-Inspired Halloween Bat Wreath

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year to decorate. Each October, I dive into a new theme to keep things fresh, spooky, and fun. Whether it’s playful pumpkins, eerie skulls, or haunted houses, there’s something exciting about choosing a theme and running with it. This year, I decided to go with a bat theme. You may have already seen my posts on how to turn Dollar Tree bats into Pottery Barn-inspired versions, as well as my Halloween Bat mantel that’s full of flying creatures. Now, I’m excited to share another bat-themed project: a Pottery Barn-inspired Halloween Bat Wreath. The original costs over $75, but you can create this dupe for just $20 with simple supplies! Here’s the Pottery Barn version:

Supplies You’ll Need

One of the best things about DIY projects is how affordable they can be compared to high-end decor. For this bat wreath, we’ll use a few basic items, some of which you might already have. The main supplies are:

• Twig wreath
• Black macrame cord (the same cord I used to turn Dollar Tree bats into the Pottery Barn-inspired versions)
• PVC bats (the kit comes with 100 bats in three different sizes)
• Micro lights with a timer

I’ll add links to these supplies below so you can grab everything easily. Now, let’s dive into how to make this fun and spooky wreath!

Step 1: Prep the Macrame Cord

To begin, take your black macrame cord and cut 10-12 pieces, each about 10 inches long. These will be the “hanging” strings from which our bats will dangle, giving the wreath a dynamic, 3D look. You can adjust the lengths if you want some bats to hang lower or higher, but for now, aim for about 10 inches for each piece.

Once you’ve cut your strings, make a simple knot at one end of each piece. This knot will help secure the string to the wreath. Don’t worry if the knot isn’t perfect, as we’ll hide it later!

Step 2: Attach the Macrame Strings to the Wreath

Now that your macrame strings are prepped, it’s time to attach them to the wreath. Start by placing a small dab of hot glue on the knot of one of the macrame strings. Then, tuck the knot under the branches of the twig wreath so it isn’t visible. Press the knot into place with the hot glue and let it cool. This will keep the string securely attached to the wreath.

Repeat this process for each of the macrame strings, evenly spacing them around the wreath. Once all the strings are in place, you can trim the ends to your desired lengths. Don’t worry if some are longer than others—it adds to the whimsical look!

Step 3: Create the Bat Sandwiches

This is where the magic really happens! Take two matching bats from your PVC bat kit. These bats come in different sizes, so start with the larger ones first. Apply a small dab of hot glue to the center of one bat, and place the end of one of your macrame strings over the glue dab. Then, take the matching bat and sandwich the string between the two bats, pressing them together. This will hide the end of the string and create a clean, polished look.

To secure the bats even more, add a couple of dots of hot glue to the tips of the wings and press the wings together. This will keep the bats looking uniform and prevent them from separating over time. Repeat this step with all the macrame strings, working your way from the larger bats at the bottom of the wreath to the smaller ones toward the top.

Step 4: Add the Micro Lights

Once your bats are attached and hanging perfectly from the wreath, it’s time to add the micro lights! These lights will give your bat wreath a soft, eerie glow, perfect for spooky nights. Start by tucking the battery pack into the back of the wreath, hiding it behind the branches so it’s out of sight.

Next, string the micro lights around the wreath, weaving them in and out of the branches. The lights should subtly illuminate the bats without overpowering the entire wreath. Once you’re happy with how the lights look, set the timer on the micro lights so they’ll automatically turn on at dusk, adding a magical touch to your Halloween decor.

Step 5: Hang Up and Enjoy!

Your Pottery Barn-inspired Halloween Bat Wreath is now complete! All that’s left is to hang it up on your door, mantel, or wall and admire your work. The bats will appear to be flying in mid-air, thanks to the dangling macrame cords, and the lights will give off a soft, spooky glow.

This wreath is such a fun and easy way to bring your Halloween decor to life, and it costs a fraction of the price of the original Pottery Barn version. I love how simple materials like macrame cord, PVC bats, and a twig wreath can be transformed into a chic, high-end decor piece. Plus, with the added micro lights, it’s perfect for both day and night displays.

Why DIY?

Every time I create a DIY version of an expensive decor piece, I’m reminded of how satisfying it is to craft something beautiful and budget-friendly. This Pottery Barn-inspired Halloween Bat Wreath is a great example of that! Not only does it save money, but it also allows you to customize it to your taste. You can add more bats, use different colored lights, or even spray paint the twig wreath black for an extra spooky effect.

Easy Fall Over the Door Lighted Garland

The Viral Christmas Garland Inspiration

Last year, I shared a VIRAL over-the-door garland for Christmas that took the holiday decor world by storm! It was such a simple yet stunning way to dress up your front door or any entrance in your home. This year, I thought, why not create a fall version using the same concept? With a few easy swaps and some inexpensive garlands, you can create a fall-themed look that’s perfect for the autumn season! Plus, I reused the same lights from last year’s Christmas garland, so you’ll already have a head start on your supply list. This fall garland is not only budget-friendly but also versatile enough to switch out for the holidays later. Let’s dive into how you can create this easy fall over-the-door garland to decorate your home!

Fall Over the Door Garland Supplies

Before we get started, here’s a quick rundown of the supplies you’ll need for this DIY fall garland. I’ll add links to all the products soon!

• Black shower curtain rod
• 6 red and orange leaf garlands
• 2 white and tan leaf garlands
• 2 (200-light) twinkle lights with 8 settings, timers, and remote

These supplies make it easy to customize the look based on your style. Whether you prefer a bold, colorful autumn theme or something a bit more neutral and soft, the combination of red, orange, white, and tan leaf garlands offers the perfect balance of fall color. Now that you have your materials ready, let’s move on to the fun part—putting it all together!

Step 1: Setting Up the Base

To start, you’ll need your black shower curtain rod. This will serve as the base for your over-the-door garland. Simply place the rod inside your doorway or window opening, making sure it’s secure and positioned at the right height. The great thing about using a shower curtain rod is that it’s adjustable and won’t damage your walls or door frame. It’s the perfect no-hassle solution for hanging garlands, and you can reuse it throughout the year for different occasions!

Step 2: Hanging the Leaf Garlands

Next, it’s time to add the leaf garlands! For this step, I used 6 red and orange leaf garlands and 2 white and tan leaf garlands to create a rich, layered look.

Start by hanging two red and orange leaf garlands from each end of the shower curtain rod. Tie the garlands securely to the rod at each end, ensuring they’re hanging evenly. This will create the foundation of your fall garland and give it that beautiful, cascading effect on the sides.

Then, take two more red and orange leaf garlands and wrap them around the middle section of the rod. To secure them, loop one end of the garland through the knots you made at each end. This will ensure the garland stays in place and adds fullness to the overall look.

Step 3: Adding the Neutral Tones

For a balanced and cohesive look, it’s essential to incorporate some neutral tones alongside the vibrant fall colors. That’s where the white and tan leaf garlands come in. Drape these garlands across the middle of the rod, allowing them to blend naturally with the red and orange garlands. These lighter shades help break up the bold fall colors and add an elegant touch to the garland.

This combination of bright fall hues and neutral tones creates a dynamic and visually appealing design, making your doorway pop with autumnal vibes.

Step 4: Wrapping the Twinkle Lights

Now comes the part that takes this garland to the next level—twinkle lights! I reused the same 200-light twinkle lights with 8 settings and a remote that I used for my Christmas garland. Twinkle lights add a magical glow, perfect for cozy autumn nights.

Begin by tying the battery pack to one end of the shower curtain rod. The leaf garlands will do an excellent job camouflaging the battery pack, so you don’t have to worry about it being visible. Next, wrap the lights around the garlands hanging down on one side, working your way across the top of the rod. Repeat the process with the second string of lights for the opposite side.

The lights will not only enhance the look of your garland but also make it stand out when the sun starts to set. With 8 different light settings and a timer feature, you can customize the vibe, whether you want a subtle twinkle or a bright, festive glow.

Step 5: Securing the Garland

Once you’ve added the garlands and lights, it’s time to put everything in place. Push the shower curtain rod upwards until it reaches the top of your doorway or window. The rod should fit snugly, holding the garlands and lights securely in place. Take a step back to admire how beautifully the leaf garlands frame the entrance and how the twinkle lights make everything sparkle!

Step 6: Optional Pumpkin Detail

If you want to add an extra festive touch, consider adding faux pumpkins to the top of your garland. Here’s how:

Simply hot glue wire to the bottom of each pumpkin, then use the wire to attach the pumpkins to the rod. This extra detail adds dimension and a cute fall element to the garland. Plus, pumpkins are a classic fall staple that ties the entire look together!

Step 7: Set the Lights and Enjoy!

The final step is to use the remote to set the timers for your twinkle lights and experiment with the different settings. You can change the light settings depending on the occasion, whether you’re hosting a cozy fall dinner or just want to enjoy a peaceful evening at home.

This festive fall garland is such a beautiful way to decorate your home for the season, and the best part is that you can leave it up until Thanksgiving. When the holiday season rolls around, you can easily swap the leaf garlands for faux pine garlands and reuse the same base and lights.
