Five Easy Ways to Add Patriotic Charm to Your Outdoor Spaces
I love red white and blue in the summertime! And the great thing about living in Utah is that our state holiday is on July 24th so I can keep the patriotic theme up for the entire month! I usually decorate our front porch and our back patio with some easy red white and blue ideas.

Five Easy Ways to Add Outdoor Patriotic Charm
follow these five easy ideas and you can add patriotic home to your outdoor spaces in minutes!
Add a Patriotic Wreath
I think your front door is such a great place to add some welcoming charm to your home. I love making easy wreaths, especially patriotic ones. Here are a few patriotic wreaths I have made:
Red White and Blue Basket Wreath
This is a fun idea if you want something other than a traditional wreath. It’s so easy too! Just take a basket add floral foam and push faux flowers into it. Then add flags and you have a festive door hanging in 10 minutes!
Farmhouse Patriotic Wreath
This was one of my favorites. You can find the galvanized wreath form at Hobby Lobby. Then I added scrapbook paper to stars and a ribbon and fabric bow.
Patriotic Flag Wreath
Here’s a super easy wreath idea. I took a plastic flag garland and wrapped it around a wreath form. Then added a dollar spot cut out and vinyl!
Neutral Patriotic Hydrangea Wreath
This wreath idea is great if you have a home that clashes with the traditional red and blue. In our last house I had a hot pink rug in our family room but I really wanted to make a patriotic mantel so I used neutral woods and a little dark blue and loved the look!
Red White and Blue Pillows
This is so easy. I found these red and white gingham pillows and blue and white buffalo pillow covers on amazon. They are such a great deal. Much less expensive than making your own. Just pop them on pillow inserts and you have instant patriotic charm! I also use the red and white pillow covers for christmas and valentines day!
Add Flags
Did you know you can buy flags at the dollar store? It’s true! They come in all kinds of different sizes. The smaller flags come in packs. I think the smallest size flags come in packages of 5. Such an inexpensive way to add patriotic charm to your outdoors. I put them in my planters!
Add Red White and Blue Buntings
Buntings are another way to add patriotic colors to your outdoor space. I put buntings on my front door. But I also added a bunting to a little faux fireplace that I have on my side porch and it’s so cute! Here are a few buntings I have made in the past few years!
Plaid Red White and Blue Bunting
This was a bunting I found a couple of years ago at Targets Dollar Spot. The Dollar Spot has great patriotic items and I love the prices! I added some simple red and white ribbon to lanterns on my porch which match the ribbon in the basket wreath!
Wood Shim Patriotic Bunting
This is another great idea if you want neutral patriotic decor to better fit your decor. Can you believe this bunting is made with wood shims?? I went through a time when I wanted to make as many crafts as I could using wood shims. I also made giant wood flowers out of shims that are so cute!!
Tie Dye Patriotic Banner
This was so fun to make with the kids! We tie dyed a banner for the porch at my 1901 cottage and it was so cute!
Pot Red Flowers
I love geraniums because they bloom all summer long and they do really well in Utah with our dry heat. So I usually buy a bunch in the spring and then just add some flags to their pots in June and July for easy fourth of july color.
