Semi-Homemade Desserts are Easy to Make

Bird's Nest Cookie Cups are fun to make and are the perfect dessert to make for Spring or Easter. Make them with your kids in three easy steps!

I love using some short cuts to make cooking easier. In this recipe I use refrigerated sugar cookie dough and pre-made frosting. I discovered a super cool product in the store the other day. This Betty Crocker frosting is pre-packaged and already filled in a spill-proof icing container with icing tip! The price is the same as buying a jar of packaged frosting and such a genius idea! I love that the frosting doesn’t spill out of the back of the icing sleeve.

Ingredients

  • 1 roll refrigerated cookie dough
  • 1 package chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut flakes
  • 1 cup egg chocolate candies

Instructions

  1. Open cookie dough package roll and cut it into 12 slices. Put a slice into each compartment in a cupcake baking sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick spray. Use fingers to flatten dough at the bottom of the cup and bring the edges up, forming a "nest" shape. Use a fork to poke holes in the bottom of each nest. Bake at 350-degrees for 12-14 minutes.

  2. When cookie dough nests are lightly brown, take them out of the oven and let them cool. Once cooled, fill the inside of each nest with chocolate frosting.

  3. Add shredded coconut and chocolate eggs or other types of candy to the top of each nest.
