Holiday Porch and Entry
We moved into our new home about 3 months ago and are SO excited to spend our first Christmas here!! We are remodeling the inside of our new home, but we had such a fun time decorating our new porch and entryway room!
Easy Ways to Decorate a Holiday Porch
Decorating our front porch is my favorite- especially for Christmas! There are some simple ways to decorate a porch for the holidays easily!
Add a Holiday Wreath
I hung a pretty leaf wreath with a cute sign in the middle. If you can only do one thing to decorate for the holidays, I suggest hanging a wreath! This is one that I bought and I just added a little sign to the inside. So easy!
A Pretty Holiday Rug
A rug is an easy way to add color or pattern to your front porch. And a rug is a great idea in the winter because it keeps the snow and wetness from coming inside your home. I bought an indoor/outdoor neutral mat that I can use all year. Then I switch out the mat on top. I added a simple jute holiday rug to layer over the top of the buffalo check middle rug.
Fresh Garland
I love the look of fresh garland. It’s inexpensive and so beautiful. I ran the garland up the railings on the sides of the porch and also above the door. Then I tied buffalo check ribbon to hold the garland onto the railings and continued the ribbon above the door with two big bows. The last thing I did was add a couple strands of felted pom poms and it looks so festive!
Add Potted Greens
Just Knock Knock sent me the most beautiful potted greens for our porch. I put them in galvanized pots and tied them with the same buffalo check ribbon. SO pretty!
A Giant Sign
I love making giant signs. They are so inexpensive and easy. I have a Giant Sign tutorial that you can check out if you want to make one for YOUR home too! This year I was going to make a FALALA sign to go along with my FALALA tree, but I found this sign at HomeGoods and the price was too good to pass up! It lights up too!! So fun!
Holiday Pillows
I added a couple holiday pillows to the porch. I also found a tiny plaid pillow that matched the ribbon on my wreath and put it on a vintage child chair that I found thrifted a few years ago.
Easy Ways to Create a Holiday Entryway
We have the sweetest little entryway room at the cottage. I think homes built around the turn of the century built these rooms to insulate the inside of the house. We use it as an entryway. I added a bench I built a few years ago, a big mirror and some hooks. So my kids can park outside the house and come in through the front door. They can hang up their coats and backpacks and take off their shoes here.
Add a Fresh Garland
I used the leftover garland from the porch and wrapped it at the top of the mirror.
Hang a Wreath
I hung a festive green wreath inside the mirror. I am going to add some lights at the top of the garland too!
Holiday Bench Pillows
I found some festive plaid pillows and a pillows that says — gGood Tidings of Comfort & Joy. I love the way they look on the bench.
Other Festive Entryway Elements
I hung some stockings on the hooks that match the entryway pillows. I also put a cute lantern on the bench and put a giant sign in the entryway room too!
