We are making progress on the remodeling of our new (old) house! Right now we are working on the kitchen, but the bathrooms are coming up. Since our new home is similar in age as the #1905Cottage I remodeled a few years ago, I want to do something kind of similar with a bit of a modern twist!

I’ve been researching bathroom ideas. Here are a few of my favorite bathroom ideas using different tile patterns!

What Tile Designs are Considered Modern Farmhouse?

Farmhouse tile is typically tile that was used in farmhouses built at the turn of the century. Modern farmhouse uses these traditional materials but with a modern twist. For example a modern farmhouse bathroom would use traditional subway tile but add in modern details. Like laying subway tile in modern patterns or adding trendy cement tiles to accent subway tile.

There are so many reasons I love this bathroom. The black and white tile on the floor are so striking. The contrast of the back tile shower floor is nice. And the simplicity of the marble subway tile create an interesting bathroom without being too busy.

Crisp Architects

Another one of my favorites. The window pane shower doors are gorgeous and really showcase the beautiful subway tile with dark grout. The built in cabinet is a wonderful use of space and trough tubs are really popular now.

RueMag

This is an excellent example of a modern farmhouse bathroom with a bohemian vibe. The traditional farmhouse planking is modernized with the addition of hexagon tiles.

This is my friend Kara’s home. The wood planking around her tub give a warm feeling along with the classic white subway tile.

There are a couple details on this beautiful bathroom that are striking. The diamond-shape subway tile and laying the tile vertically puts a modern twist on the farmhouse theme. Also the dark emerald green color of the cabinet is very on-trend, in addition to the gold cabinet modern handles.

White Cottage Home and Living

For a big statement, consider laying statement tile on your wall like this beautiful bathroom. The wood tones of the cabinet and mirrors add a nice contrast to the black and white square cement tiles.

Curbless showers are a huge trend right now. I love the way the tile continues seamlessly into the main part of the bathroom. hw borders along the shower and bathroom are a beautiful tile statement.

The stand-alone clawfoot tub is the star of this striking bathroom. Larger octagon tile with white grout are a subtle statement in this room.

A black and white marble checked floor ground this bathroom against walls that have subway tile running all the way to the ceiling. I also love the black fixtures in this gorgeous bathroom.

This is the inspiration for my girls’ bathroom in our new home. I love the penny tile patterned floor. The black and white theme is complemented by the black planked wall and built-in cabinet in this small but amazing bathroom design.

The herringbone patterned wood floor in this room warm the space up and complement the subway tile with dark grout. The gold handles and fixtures really shine in this bathroom.

Trough tubs are really trending right now. I love the white rub with the tile in this farmhouse bathroom.

Captivating Houses

Several different grey tile patterns work well together in this room. The grey grout showcases classic subway tile and is a beautiful background against the black cabinet and fixtures.

Scallop tile os the star of this bathroom. The black tile looks beautiful with the black and gold clawfoot tub for a really sophisticated feeling in this home.

Better Homes and Gardens

One of my favorite bathrooms because of the warm wood tones in the floors and vanity. The stone sink and brick accents make this space seem really warm and welcoming. This bathroom technically doesn’t have tile, but I included it because of the use of brick instead of tile.

Another beautiful of striking floor tile. This is a wonderful idea for a small bathroom. Instead of installing a big sink cabinet, the wall-mounted sink takes up far less space in a small bathroom. The ledge built into the back of the sink has ingenious shelves built into it for storage.

Subway tile are laid in straight lines for an updated look. I also love the round tub.

Sunny Circles Studio

This herringbone pattern is a fun way of updating a bathroom but still maintaining a classic look. The black and white tile on the floor is also classic and timeless.

Using grey and white tile on the floor softens the overall look of this gorgeous bathroom. The black accents are statements in the tub and wall at the end of the room.
