Tasty Tidbits Thursday: Oscar party food

oscar1[1]

As you know, I like to watch the Oscars to see the fashion -- and the opening skit is usually entertaining. So at the last minute, I thought it would be fun to do something special with my kids to celebrate the Oscars. And since my daughter's birthday was the day before, we turned it into a spur-of-the-moment birthday/Oscar party. {Hayley with her Grandmas -- Ella snuck in too}I wanted to make … [Read more...]

Tasty Tidbits Thursday: Grandma’s Pierogies

Jean+and+Paul[1]

We grew up far away from any family. Once a year we would pile in the station wagon for the annual summer 20-hour trip to see our relatives. It was such an adventure and so much fun to see our cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents. We spent many summers running around in the desert heat catching grasshoppers and running through the sprinklers. Eating toasted bologna sandwiches on hot … [Read more...]

Creative Fridays: Chocolate Christmas Mice

mice[1]

This is a fun project to do with your kids. We were over at my mom's house and she showed us how to make these fun little guys. This is what you need to make them: 1 package of chocolate (the kind you use to dip strawberries) 1 package of almonds, sliced 1 jar of cherries with the stems on small candies (we used little red hots and sprinkles for ice cream) Other ideas would be silver round balls … [Read more...]

Favorite Thing Wednesday: My Favorite Childhood Dessert!

no+bake+cake[1]

When I think of my childhood, one of the most vivid memories I have is of begging my mom to make this dessert. And when she would make it, I remember eating my piece as fast as I possibly could. Then after my mom left the kitchen I would sneak another piece out of the pan and run outside with it to eat without her seeing me. Light, fluffy with a delicious lemon scent and taste. The crust buttery … [Read more...]

Favorite Thing Wednesday: Peppermint Hot Chocolate

starbucks-02[1]

On a cold winter day there is nothing as scrumptious and warming as a delicious cup of Starbuck's hot chocolate. I love to get the non-fat milk with a shot of peppermint and whipped cream. Yum! It just takes the edge off of a cold, cold day. Last year we discovered a nifty invention called the Mr. Coffee Cocomotion. We gave it out to everyone in our families for Christmas. It makes a great … [Read more...]
