Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball Tastes Like Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin-everything is our favorite in the fall! We love pumpkin pie and we love cheese balls. I thought it would be fun to make a SWEET cheese ball as a dessert dip.
Everything Bagel Seasoning Cheese Ball
We created a Everything Bagel Seasoning Cheese Ball last year and it was such a hit. Be sure to check it out if you are looking for a SAVORY cheeseball. It’s so easy to make!
Sweet Cream Cheese Ball
The premise behind a sweet cream cheese ball is basically the same as a savory one. They both use cream cheese. The difference is that the sweet cream cheese ball uses pumpkin puree, brown sugar, powdered sugar and pumpkin pie spice to achieve the taste of pumpkin pie, instead of cheese.
What is in a Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball?
I experimented with this recipe for while before I achieved the consistency I needed for the cheese ball to hold it’s shape. In making sweet cream cheese balls, you don’t use cheese so they have a runnier consistency and are a little trick to create.
Tricks to Make a Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball
The main thing to create this recipe and have the mixture retain a pumpkin shape is you MUST freeze the ball overnight. I experimented with a few different recipes and times in the freezer and had the best luck when I left the ball in the freezer for at least 8 hours. This lets the mixture freeze completely.
Graham Crackers Coat the Outside of the Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball
Since I wanted this cream cheese ball to taste like a pie, I rolled the cream cheese ball in graham cracker crumbs. I also added sliced almonds to the bottom and lower sides of the cream cheese ball. I love the addition of almonds because they give the dip a little bit of a crunch.
What Do You Dip in a Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball?
There are a few different things you can use to dip in the cheese ball. I love thin cookies like the waffle cookies in the pictures. But if you are looking for a healthier pairing, consider thinly sliced apples, or a combination of both!
How Do I Store a Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball?
The ream cheese ball can be made up to 3 days in advance and wrapped tightly in cling wrap. Just unwrap it right before you want to serve the dip and roll it in the graham cracker crust. You can also store the cheese ball in the fridge for up to a day, it will lost a little bit of it’s height in the fridge because it’s a softer consistency than a regular cheese ball.
Refreeze Your Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball
You can also refreeze your cheese ball and serve it later. Gently wrap the cheese ball in plastic wrap. I would also put the entire cheese ball inside a gallon freezer bag if you plan to freeze it for longer than a day or two.

Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball Dip Recipe
Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Ball Dip Recipe. Make this sweet cream cheese ball that tastes just like pumpkin pie. Pair it with slices apples or cookies and you have the perfect fall dessert or party food!
Ingredients
- 2 packages cream cheese (8 oz. each) softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbs. brown sugar
- 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 Tbs. pumpkin pie seasoning
- 4 Tbs. butter, softened
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup peeled and blanched almond slices (optional)
Instructions
-
In mixer, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie seasoning and butter. Mix well until there are no lumps.
-
Lay a sheet of plastic wrap on your work surface and scoop the pumpkin mixture onto the plastic wrap. Wrap into a ball shape. You might need to use another sheet of plastic wrap going the opposite direction so there are no gaps in the wrap.
-
Place dough ball in your freezer overnight (at least 8 hours)
-
You can shape the dough ball at this stage while it is still covered in plastic wrap. Roll it on the counter until it resembles a ball shape.
-
Place graham cracker crumbs in a flat container or dish. Take frozen dough out of freezer and unwrap. Place dough ball on top of graham cracker crumbs and roll gently until covered.
-
Add almond slices to the bottom and sides by gently pressing them into the soft outer layer of the cream cheese ball.
-
Add a stem. I took a stem off a mini pumpkin and put it on top of the cheese ball. You can also made a stem out of a twig.
-
Plate the cream cheese ball and add sliced apples and/or thin cookies around the edges.
