Pin the face on the Pumpkin free printable!
Looking for an easy Halloween party game that kids will actually want to play? This Pin the Face on the Pumpkin game is a silly Halloween twist on the classic Pin the Tail on the Donkey—and you can download the pumpkin and face pieces for free!
This printable Halloween game is simple to prepare, easy to play, and so funny when everyone removes their blindfolds and sees the faces they created. Use it for a Halloween party, pumpkin-carving night, classroom celebration, fall festival, playdate, or family Halloween night.
Best of all, you only need a few basic supplies, and you can print the game at home on standard 8.5-by-11-inch paper or make an extra-large version using 13-by-19-inch paper.

A Fun and Easy Halloween Game for Kids
We originally made this game for our pumpkin party, and it was such a fun activity to add to the celebration. The idea is just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, but instead of trying to pin on a tail, each player adds facial features to a big printable pumpkin.
The kids can choose from different eyes, noses, and mouths, so every pumpkin face turns out a little different. Once the blindfold comes off, the crooked eyes and upside-down smiles usually get the biggest laughs!
It’s an especially nice party activity because it doesn’t require a complicated setup or a lot of space. Hang the pumpkin on a wall, door, bulletin board, or piece of foam board, and you’re ready to play.

Pin the Face on the Pumpkin Halloween Party Game. We are getting ready for our Pumpkin Party!! We have sent out the invitations.

How to Play Pin the Face on the Pumpkin
- Hang the printable pumpkin at a comfortable height for the children playing.
- Place a small piece of removable adhesive on the back of each face piece.
- Let the first player choose an eye, nose, or mouth.
- Cover the player’s eyes with a blindfold.
- Gently turn the player around one or two times. For younger children, you can skip the spinning.
- Point the player toward the pumpkin and let them attach the face piece.
- Continue until the pumpkin has a complete face—or several wonderfully silly faces!
- Take off the blindfold and enjoy everyone’s funny creation.
You can play just for laughs or turn it into a friendly contest. Give small prizes for the face that is closest to the right spot, the silliest face, the most creative face, or the most surprised-looking pumpkin.
And we are so excited about this fun party game! It’s a spin on Pin the Tail on the Donkey, for Halloween.

We have also created some different faces that kids can choose when playing this game.

What’s fun is that the kids are blindfolded and the kids find the results hilarious when the blindfolds come off!

As a party favor, we are going to take pictures of the kids with their funny pumpkin faces and send them home so they can remember the fun pumpkin party!!

Make It Easier for Preschoolers
Skip the blindfold and let younger children build their own jack-o’-lantern faces. Set the pieces on a table and use the activity as a Halloween matching game or quiet-time craft.
Make It a Classroom Game
Divide the class into teams and give each team a set of face pieces. Children can take turns adding one feature at a time. Use reusable adhesive so you can reset the pumpkin between groups.
Create a Halloween Photo Booth
After each round, take a picture of the player beside the funny pumpkin face they created. The photos make cute party keepsakes and are fun to share with parents after a classroom celebration.
Let Every Child Design a Pumpkin
Print a pumpkin page for each guest and place the face pieces at a craft table. Children can arrange their own faces and glue the pieces in place for an easy take-home activity.
Add Small Halloween Prizes
Offer simple prizes such as Halloween stickers, pencils, erasers, temporary tattoos, glow sticks, or a small bag of treats. You can also give every player a prize so the activity stays light and fun.
Tips for Setting Up the Game
- Hang the pumpkin away from furniture, sharp corners, stairs, or breakable decorations.
- Use painter’s tape or removable adhesive to protect painted walls.
- Prepare all the face pieces before guests arrive.
- Write each child’s name lightly on the back of their piece if you want to choose a winner.
- Keep one sample face assembled nearby so young children understand the game.
- Place cut pieces in small bowls or envelopes so they do not get lost.
- Laminate everything if you want to bring the game out year after year.
Frequently Asked Questions
What ages is this Halloween game best for?
Pin the Face on the Pumpkin works well for preschool and elementary-age children. Younger children can play without a blindfold, while older children may enjoy being gently spun around before placing their pieces.
Can I use the printable for a classroom party?
Yes! You may use the printable for personal or classroom use. Please do not sell, redistribute, or upload the printable files to another website.
What kind of paper should I use?
Regular printer paper works, but white cardstock is more durable—especially for the smaller face pieces. Laminating the pages makes the game reusable.
How can I make the game larger?
Print the 13-by-19-inch version at home if your printer supports that paper size, or send the file to a local print shop. Mounting the printed pumpkin on poster board or foam board will also make it sturdier and more visible.
What adhesive works best?
Use removable mounting putty, painter’s tape, glue dots labeled removable, or small loops of low-tack tape. Test the adhesive first if you are attaching the game directly to a painted wall.
