Help Kids Get Creative by Taking Classes!

Help kids get creative by taking classes. I think I’m a life-long-learner. I enjoy learning new hobbies and skills. Maybe I have creative ADD? Some of the ways I learn new things are watching videos, reading books and taking classes. For me, I learn the fastest by hands-on learning. So taking classes is my favorite.

This month as part of the #MichaelsMakers program we were asked to take a class. There were so many to choose from! Ella and I ended up going to a free drawing class.

I loved art in high school and charcoal drawing was my favorite medium. So I loved the idea of having Ella try out a drawing class. We even brought her little friend with us along for the fun!

Our teacher for the night taught us about perspective and shading and the difference between the different pencils. It was a really fun night. Now Ella is wondering what our next class will be. I think we should try arm knitting!! That would be a super fun thing to learn.

A few years ago I took an acrylic class at Michaels and created this painting. It was really fun because I took it with my mom and the instructor was a super talented woman who lives in my neighborhood. I learned so much. And my mom and I finished the class with paintings that we both are really proud of.

That class really increased my creativity and not long after I started my blog. I also think it would be amazing to take a watercolor class. I’ve always wanted to learn how to watercolor.

You can find a listing of classes at YOUR Michaels store on Michaels website.

Simply click on the Classes & Events button at the top of the website.

Then you can see all of the different categories. You can take a class at the store or online.

If you want to take a class at your local store, simply input your zip code and a list of classes at your nearest store will come up. You can also look up classes by type of class – like knitting or crochet, or baking, etc. There are also free classes like the drawing class Ella and I took as well as the cookie decorating class above. Such a fun way to bond with your kids or friends and learn new skills and hobbies!!

And another way to learn a new skill is by ordering a craft kit. It comes with everything you need to create a fun project and learn skills too.

Take a look at your Michaels store and see what classes they have. Which one do YOU want to take?

Let us know in the comments!!

Have a Creative Day!

xoxo
