Clear The Air Challenge!!

We moved to Utah almost exactly 10 years ago. I can’t believe it’s been that long!! I grew up back east — in Michigan, New York and Connecticut, so living so close to the mountains amazes me every single day. I have noticed though that there is a lot of pollution here, especially in the winter. When I am coming down the road in my car, I can see a murky haze laying over the entire valley. And as someone who suffers from asthma, I have a hacking cough almost all winter long.

Now there is something I can do about it.

Over 50% of the air pollution comes from cars.

And as a mom, I drive around ALOT!

I spend most of my time taking kids from school to practices and after-school activities.  Luckily, my kids go to a school right behind my house so they walk. But I also have been trying to carpool more. And, I have the cutest cruiser bike. I try to take my bike if I have an errand to run around my neighborhood. Another way I have been trying to cut down on my carbon footprint, is turning my motor off if I am waiting line anywhere in my car.

I recently learned about the  Clear The Air Challenge!  And I was so impressed that I signed myself right up!!

The Clear Air Challenge runs throughout the month of August and it also tracks your energy and miles. Plus, you can win prizes. Awesome!!

I love how my tracker shows me how much money I’m saving AND the emissions that I helped reduce. I even saved my self $3 today!

Come join me and join the Clear the Air Challenge.  You can register at  Today’s Mama. Let’s band together and make a difference.

I think it’s worth it, don’t you??

Okay, love the clean air plan…we just have 1 car, so I rarely drive…but what I really LOVE is that family picture! It’s amazing! You look like one of the girls! 🙂

I opened up my July issue of Woman’s Day, saw your picture, stared at it for a few seconds while thinking…why do I know this woman? Then it hit me! Great article. Lovely picture of you.

I’d just like to point out that Utah has bad air quality along the front. Those of us off the front enjoy clear air all year round :). But, driving less is still a worthy goal. With a little planning, you can easily consolidate errands or bike, etc.

That’s true! I agree. When I thought about it I realized that I was wasting a lot of gas and with a little more planning I can conserve better 🙂
