Modern White and Grey Fall Pumpkin Mantel!

I LOVE this time of year!!

Decorating for Fall is my favorite.

slipcover sectional

Last week I made a bleached dropcloth slipcover for my couch and I thought it would be fun to keep my Fall decor to grey and white. Kind of non-traditional. I just really wanted to go with a neutral and kind of beachy look for Fall.

decor art multi surface paint

DecoArt has an awesome multi-surface line of paints coming out. They were kind of enough to send me some and ask me to make a project with them. I thought it would be fun to paint pumpkins and attach wood letters that spelled out something for Fall!! I chose the word AUTUMN.

Here’s how I made this Beachy Fall Mantel!

painting the pumpkins

  • I took 6 small pumpkins. You can find them at your local craft store.

first try

  • Then I painted them. I originally painted them grey but once I put them on my mantel, I found that I liked a lighter color. So I repainted them white (just keeping it real).

autumn letters for pumpkins

  • And I painted the wood letters Dolphin Grey.
  • I attached the wood letters to the pumpkins with hot glue.
  • I also painted a round grape vine wreath with the paint  and hung it on an old vintage door.

I just love the way it looks!!

I think the mantel needs something else — maybe a few grey and white Fall pennants??

What do you think??

I love the way the Autumn Pumpkin mantel looks with my new slipcovered couch.

So light and bright!!

LOVE your blog! This post is SO inspiring. I feel like I could tackle those pumpkins (both the chevron and the AUTUMN ones)-so cute and festive. I love that AUTUMN sign too! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

L O V E the simplicity. Sometimes that makes much more of an impact. Sit back and enjoy the beauty and breath of fresh air, don’t clutter it up!

Thanks for your opinion Rebecca!! I am an embellisher and so I always think I need to add more details. But I do love the simple clean look of the mantel right now.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

It looks great! I painted small styrofoam pumpkins that I picked up from the dollar store. I glittered the crap out of one and painted the other with a metallic champagne paint. Love how classy muted colored pumpkins are this time of year!

Thanks so much my friend!! I really love that sign. And it was so easy to make. I want to make some more but I don’t have anywhere to put them LOL!! It cost me $6 for the wood 🙂

A drop cloth slip cover is on my weekend agenda!!! Yours looks great! Did I miss your tutorial on it?

    • Jen says

      September 6, 2013 at 2:08 PM

      Hi Michelle!

I am so excited about your dropcoth slipcovers!! I haven’t had time to write up the tutorial yet. One tip is I bleached mine three times and washed them. It was time consuming but it really made them lighter. They look like linen now but have the durability of the dropcloths. Send me an email if you have any questions or need help. [email protected]

Oh I love the clean feel of the grey & white. It gives a lovely feeling of peace & calm. I must be in that mode because my latest project for our mantle was grey & white too.

Apologies for being MIA & not visiting & commenting too much this week- been absolutely overwhelmed with catching up from the long weekend. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel- which is great as we go into another weekend 🙂

    Have a good one Jen!!!
