I partnered with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment to bring you these Musical Party Ideas. All opinions are my own.

Musical Note Party Cookies - pitch perfect party ideas. Easy ways to celebrate a musical birthday party!

We have THREE birthdays at the end of February – it’s a fun time of celebrating! One thing that all of our children have in common is the love of music. So when Universal contacted me to see if I wanted to have a Pitch Perfect 3 party – I knew it would be the PERFECT birthday theme this year! We planned a Pitch Perfect 3 music-themed birthday bash. It was SO fun!!

Musical Note Party Cookies – Chocolate-covered Oreo Note Cookies

We have LOVED the Pitch Perfect movies. They are all so funny, filled with awesome music and great story lines. We love laughing and following along with the talented BELLAS. In Pitch Perfect 3, now available on iTunes, The Bellas are back for one last call. After winning the World Championships, the bellas have graduated from college and out separately in the real world. They reunite for an overseas USA tour and all kinds of shenanigans. We love these awesome nerds and all of the hilarious situations they get themselves into! Download it for a movie night this weekend, it comes with new musical performances, gag reel and extended scenes not seen in theaters.

Directions:

Melt your chocolate.

Dip the oreos in chocolate. I placed the cookie in the chocolate and spooned the chocolate over the top of the cookie until it was covered. Scoop the cookie out of the chocolate using a fork so the extra chocolate will run off the fork back into the bowl.

Place the cookie on a sheet of parchment paper and let it cool.

Do this until all of the cookies are covered.

Refrigerate the cookies for an hour to set the chocolate well.

Musical note cookies for parties

I made two different batches of cookies. One with dark chocolate and one with white. Then I used contrasting frosting to draw the notes on the cookies. If you only want to make one batch of cookies, get one type of melting chocolate – for example dark chocolate for the cookies and white frosting for the notes. Or white melting chocolate for the cookies and dark chocolate frosting for the notes. That way the notes will show up on your cookies.

Take the cookies out of the fridge and draw the notes on. I used pre-made frosting, but you can make your own if you want. You want the frosting to be thick or the notes will run. I used basic Betty Crocker frosting. I cut the hole on the frosting very small, that makes it easier to create more detailed creations on your cookies. My daughter who is 13 actually drew the notes on – it’s that easy! Have your kids help you – they will love it! We drew a few different kinds of notes on the cookies.

Then I put the cookies back in the fridge to let the frosting get hard.

Now take your platter and draw the music lines and the treble clef. These are all drawn with the frosting as well. Don’t worry – if you mess up just take a damp paper towel and wipe it off and try again! Once you have the lines and treble clef drawn on the platter, pop the tray in your fridge too. This will set the frosting so that when you put the cookies on top of the lines they won’t stick together.

Get the rest of your party table set up and then just take the cookies and platter out of the fridge and put the cookies on the lines on the platter so they look like notes on a staff.

The film studio sent us some really fun shirts for the party! The CRUSHED IT shirt would be SO easy to DIY! Just print those letters off with heat-transfer vinyl and iron them on shirts. And you have the perfect Pitch Perfect 3 shirts to go along with your party!

This party is SO fun for tweens and teens. The music in the movie is awesome and my teens have followed along with the Pitch Perfect squad since the first movie. So it was the PERFECT party for our 10-24 year old kids!!

Hi! I am not sure what is going on with my email list. I have had a few people say they want to get my newsletter and they can’t sign up. I will see if I can figure that out. Thanks for letting me know!
