On the duck cloth (outer layer), fold over the top ¼ inch and press. Do this on both pieces & set aside.
On the 2×3 pieces of material, fold and press the ends on the 2 inch side. Then fold in half and press.
Take your 7 inch zipper and pin the 2×3 pieces to the ends of the zipper & sew on. This tab adds a very nice finished look to the bag.
Next, take one piece of your lining and lay the zipper about ¼ inch from the top & sew.
With the 2nd piece of lining do the same thing and sew.
After you have sewn on the lining, take 1 piece of the duck cloth (outer layer). Pin it and sew.
Lay your layers of fabric so they are all on one side of the zipper, this will prevent you from sewing all the layers together & having a mess on your hands.
Lay the project on ironing board and press around the zipper so they are nice and pressed.
Unzip your zipper (very important step)!
Fold matching fabrics together to sew the pouch close.
Fold the tabs up towards the duck cloth & pin.
Pin the edges together & sew.
You will sew a “u” starting with one side of the lining.
Fold the lining and press.
Turn right side out & push the tabs on the zipper out.
Sew the lining closed, tuck into place.
Give a nice press when finished.
