One of my favorite parts of blogging is working with companies that I love. One of my favorites is Michaels Stores. I have loved being a part of the Michaels Makers program since they created it. And, last week I was able to travel to California and meet up with the Michaels Makers team and my fellow Michaels Makers bloggers. It was so fun to get away and recharge my creative juices.
We took four amazing classes (weaving, watercolor, paper flowers and image transfer) – all taught by Michaels education partner, Creativebug and great news – each of the classes are available online for FREE on Michaels.com until 8/22 (you can re-create one or all of our summit projects)!
We had a great time – here are some highlights:
The online classes are really cool – I can’t wait to watch them with my girls.
We even got to see the Golden Gate Bridge. So fun!
When I got home I was so inspired by the weaving class that I decided to base Ella’s new room at the #1905Cottage on the tapestry that we are making. It kind of has a adventure theme! I painted the main wall in her room with chalkboard paint and we are working on a gallery wall with the tapestry as the focal point. I can’t wait to share more on her room soon!
One of my favorite parts of being on the Michaels Makers team is the Christmas Tree challenge they give us each year. I love coming up with a tree theme and seeing all of other handmade Christmas tree ornaments and decorations that the other bloggers share. It’s so fun. I am already thinking of tree ideas.
Here is the 12 Days of Christmas tree that I created last year for the challenge.
In case you haven’t met all 50 of this year’s Makers, check out each of our blogs and bios here! Follow along throughout the year and feel free to create projects with us by sharing on Instagram using #MadeWithMichaels.
And check out all of the fun reports about the Michaels Makers Summit!

I went to Michaels website to look at the free classes and it won’t play the classes unless you sign up for a free trial and then you only get one free class. 🙁 I don’t want to sign up for a $5 a month plan. 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁
