love this felt & thread mini heart valentine’s day banner
Hi I’m Heather Dawn from Just Lovely Things and today I’m going to share with you a quick and simple project that is easy to do alone, with kids or even with your girlfriends.
This project is great because most of us already have the supplies, and you can make it as little or as big as you want it.
The supplies include:
your color choice of felt, thread (embroidery floss or bakers twine), a needle and scissors.
First up decide how big you want your hearts, I cut a standard size sheet of felt into thirds and then free hand cut my heart shape (feel free to print a template or use a fancy cutting machine for this part).
Next take your thread and tie a knot at one end, pull it through just enough so the thread doesnt fall out of your needle and start stitiching around the shape of the heart.
Tie off the ends and repeat these steps til you have as many hearts as your own little heart desires!
Next up flip all your hearts face down and tie together.
I left about 5″ of thread out of one side, then following my stitches (so they are hidden)
just looped them all together and left another 5″ out of the other side.
-believe me when I say the back doesn’t look too cute, but just wait!!-
Turn your hearts around & find a cute place to hang them!
I put mine next to our message table in the kitchen, and that music note pencil can you see?
That is a mod podge fabric can that I shared how to make here.

What a lovely project Heather Dawn – thanks for sharing it with us!!

    Hi,
firstly everything you make is so cute and original, i love it! Secondly i was hoping you could get creative for me, i am planning my wedding and would like to make alot of the decortions and favours myself and have a heart/birds/birdcage theme… ive attempted a twine heart using a balloon mould and pva, but not very successfully, is there anything you can suggest or create?

Love these sweet simple hearts! I am always trying to find ways to bring the seasons and holidays into my home and incorporate into my everyday decor. I love it when you can find a project like this that is so simple and cute! Even with all the hectic day-to-day stuff going on you can still find a few minutes to sit down and make something like this. Thanks so much for sharing!

Love love love this felt banner. I have the bakers twine – just not sure if I have the felt or will get it before Valentine’s. But, this is so inspiring for any of the holidays – cutting out the appropriate decoration and also using the embroidery floss. Thanks so much for sharing this. I can’t wait to try it!!

Adorable heart garland. My daughter & I made something similar out of red & pink tie-dyed coffee filters cut into hearts and strung together. We’re always looking for fun little projects to do together.

    Thanks!
