I love this time of year! Decorating our home is always so much fun. I think I have decorating ADD because I can never decide what my “style” is. This year I had this vision of a gold and white Christmas. I sewed our dropcloth slipcover so I could have this neutral holiday decor. But I also love BRIGHT holiday too. So in kitchen/family room area of our home I went with a gold and white theme, and then in the entryway and living room I went for BRIGHT and colorful.
I’m excited to be joining in Just A Girl’s Holiday Home Tour! If you are coming from Cassie at Hi Sugar Plum – welcome!! Isn’t her home amazing???
Here’s our holiday home!
Welcome to our home. Here’s the front porch. I found some gold lights from Ikea and strung them across the highest window on the porch. I found the wreath from Lowes and I added some bows to it. I added some festive pillows to the Crib Bench that I made a few years ago.
In the entry way, I added a evergreen garland up the stairs and embellished it with red and white paper fans.
I also hung a little Joy to the World banner.
In the living room, I went for a BRIGHT theme. I found a resin deer head at zGallerie and I mounted it on a little DIY pallet. Then I added my Pom Pom Trees and a few of the Felt Trees I made a few years ago. The colorful bowl of ornaments on the coffee table bring in all of the fun happy colors.
I went with a flocked tree this year. I think the white flocked tree brings out the gold accents. I also made a crate for the base of the tree. I have the full DIY and I will share it in another post, but I spray painted the crate gold and I love the way it looks with my flocked tree.
I created a gold and white mantel. I’m a little obsessed with making cone trees this year.
I made a whole bunch of them with metallic linen as well as some gold lame and gold sequin fabric. The wreath is from Lowes. And I hung it on a gold framed mirror that I had in our bedroom. I’m so proud of myself for making the linen stockings. I had been wanting to make some stockings for a few years and it always seemed so intimidating to me. I love the gold monogrammed letters too that I ironed on using heat transfer material.
I also spray painted our Advent/Card Display Ladder from turquoise to gold. I also made a new holiday sign — Joyeux Noel.
I made metallic pillow covers for our dropcloth slipcovered sofa and created some Merry & Bright Chalkboard pillow covers.
And I printed the printables off and framed them in our banquette area too!
In the kitchen I made some pretty pillow covers out of matching metallic linen and put them on our banquette. I created a pretty centerpiece with some gold metallic candle holders from Target. I love the way they glow at night.
I updated our open shelves with some Christmas plates and figurines and I made a little wreath garland with Dollar Store wreaths and hung it over the window.
And in our bedroom I added a little festive wreath pillow to bring the feeling of Christmas up to that room too.

Your house is extra pretty for Christmas this year Jen!! I would love to know which gold stars those are in your front door window? I see they’re from Ikea, are they metal? 🙂 🙂
Your living room is stunning! I love the gold accents on white. It’s elegant and sophisticated, but extremely clean and simple – SO beautiful!
Oh JEN! I adore this tour! Your white Christmas tree totally stole my heart! And the rest is just so playful! What a fun tour!
Love your use of gold -especially the ladder/card holder. I do believe I will be showing this picture to my DH for him to make me one. It looks pretty simple and could be used for so many things even after Christmas – ooo, towel holder, magazine holder, you could use it in so many ways! Thanks for sharing your home.
I absolutely love your “have Yourself a Merry little Christmas” Mirror.! Ever since you displayed it as one of your Silhouette Cameo projects I’ve been in envy. I don’t have a Silhouette Cameo or else I’d try to make one for myself. I want it! Lol. Your Home is beautiful. Thank You for sharing it with us.
Oh, I am SMITTEN with the gold room! And your Cavalier resting on the hearth??? Absolutely my favorite!!!
Thanks Aimee!! Yes, our puppy Trixie loves sleeping on the fireplace hearth LOL!

I have gained so many ideas to decorate from all your wonderful pictures….I think I am going to be busy this weekend trying some of them. I just started decorating my home this past week. A really late start I know.

Thanks for opening your home for us to take a peak inside! STUNNING! If you are willing to share your secrets, I would love to know where you purchased or if you made the white stars hanging in the windows. I love to use stars in my decorating! Thanks!
Hi Erin!
Thanks so much!! I bought those stars at a local store here in Salt Lake – Tai Pan about 8 years ago. I don’t think they sell them anymore. But I bet you could find some metal stars online and spray paint them white and glitter them up to look the same. I love using them every year. I usually put them in my tree but I thought it would be fun to do something different this year.
xoxo
Wow Jen! Your home looks GORGEOUS!!

How did you make all of your cones? Did you use a Styrofoam base for all of them? Those can be expensive. Or are the out of posterboard.
Would you show us a tutorial?!!!
Hi Rose! They are out of posterboard – Here’s my post about them: https://tatertotsandjello.com/2013/12/metallic-christmas-stockings-mantel-plus-100-fabric-giveaway.html

Thanks, Patti
Hi Patti!
Your home sounds gorgeous. I bet those two rooms and color themes look great together! I have a better shot of the garland and I will post it on Instagram tomorrow 🙂

Can you tell me where you got the paper medallions going up your stairs?! Did you make them???? Love!
Hi Kelly!
I found those at Hobby Lobby, but you can also make them with 12×12 scrapbook paper 🙂
xoxo
I absolutely love the crate tree stand
Thanks Kellee!!
I love it too. I am a little OCD and having my tree skirt always looking disheveled made me a little loopy. So this way my tree always looks neat and tidy LOL!

All fixed. Weird!
LOVE LOVE LOVE it all!! And you are so totally genius to break up both styles…so you get a bit of both! Obviously we are color-loving-soul-sisters…even having the same felt banner! But I love a glam-gold and neutral look too…so clever to use both! I’m so totally doing that next year! Loved your tour, and so thrilled to share it with you today! xo
Thanks Cassie!!
Your home is amazing! I am in love with everything that you did. Gorgeous!!!
xoxo
Wow, Wow, Wow! So many inspiring ideas it’s hard to pick a favorite. I LOVE what you said about “not knowing my style”. I’m the same way! There’s always so many different things I want to do, but you’ve proven that you can mix it up. I’m swooning over how the colorful decorations/rooms blend seamlessly with the white and gold. It all works so beautifully together. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
Oh thanks Nikki!! I’m so happy to hear that someone else feels that way about their style too!! Thank you for taking the time to comment. You really made my day.
xoxo
I love how you decorate your house – in every season! I would love to know what color of aqua blue paint you used to paint your living room. I love that color and if you don’t mind sharing, I would appreciate knowing what brand and color you used. Thanks! Happy holidays:)

Everything looks so festive! I love the paper fans along the stairs! I’ve only finished decorating the mantle in our house so far. I’m working on the tree right now, but this is our first year with our tree and the dogs, so I’m trying to get them used to the idea first (hoping they don’t think the ornaments are toys).
