You may have noticed a little obsession I have with Chevron.
Well, I recently made some pillows for my family room and thought it might be fun to try to decoupage some Fall pumpkins with some of the leftover fabric to fit into my family room decor!
I had some leftover chevron pillow fabric. So I experimented a little and came up with some sophisticated Chevron Pumpkins. I love them!!
Here’s what I did:
- I cut up my fabric into 2.5 inch wide strips.
- Then I soaked the fabric in water. I think this makes the material stretch a little and conform to the curves of the pumpkins.
- I put a thin layer of the Mod Podge on the pumpkin, then I smoothed the strip on the pumpkin.
- I put a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the strip too
- Then I layered the next strip of fabric with the edges overlapping, until the whole surface of the pumpkin was covered.
- The last thing I did was let the pumpkin lay out in the sun until it was dry.
And I thought it would be fun to make a silver pumpkin to go with my Chevron ones. So I took some Krylon Metallic Spray Paint and painted a Dollar Tree pumpkin. Super easy. I love the shine with the Chevron!
So that’s my newest addition to non-traditional addition to Halloween decor.
{I bought the fabric from BuyFabric.com — Grey Zig Zag}
Here’s another non-traditional Halloween decor idea — make Blue Crackled Pumpkins!

These are so fab! So did you put the strips on wet?? And the wet doesnt mess up the Mod Podge? Way cool. Love the fabric…it’s on my wishlist 🙂
LOVE the new site Jenn!!! Looks so great 🙂
Jen says
Yes, putting the fabric on while wet makes it easier to smooth over the pumpkin. It waters down the Mod Podge a little but it works out fine 🙂

Love your pumpkins. You make it seem very easy, but it must have been quite a challenge to keep that chevron pattern all ligned up across the pumpkin.
But it was definitely worth it.
Jen says
Thanks Marianne!! It really isn’t lined up that great. I am a bit of a hasty crafter. But overall they are fun and different 🙂 Thanks for your comment. Have a wonderful week my friend!!
