DIY Snowy Wreath Tutorial

Happy Tuesday! It’s Holly from My Sister’s Suitcase here to share an easy holiday DIY project with you. Now that Halloween is over, it’s okay to work on a few Christmas decorations, right?? I like to make a new wreath every year (here’s my winter woods wreath from last year), and this year I’m really loving the contrast of white with bright colors. I found an easy way to make a snowy wreath with yarn, and I love how it turned out!

To create the snowy wreath base, I only used 2 items: 1. White Stryrofoam wreath form 2. Red Heart brand Buttercup yarn in white (affiliate link included) making a snowy yarn wreath I wrapped the entire wreath form with the yarn, the only place I glued it was at the very end. I just used a small dot of hot glue to make sure the end of the yarn was securely in place. That’s it! It looks like freshly fallen snow. I love it! Next up was making some miniature Christmas trees to add to the wreath. I have always loved the look of colored bottle brush trees, but the dying process just seems so messy! I wanted to see if I could make them with yarn instead, and I found this awesome tutorial from Fynes Designs. I used some of the yarn from my stash, copper wire from JoAnn Craft Store, a pair of needle nose pliers, and wire cutters to create my trees. I followed her tutorial, but instead of a drinking glass to wrap my yarn around, I used a bottle of craft paint so my trees would be a little smaller. I found these darling little birch wooden slices at JoAnn’s as well, and used these as my tree bases. birch tree bases yarn tree and birch base To create a small hole in the birch circles, I used my drill and a 3/32″ drill bit. drilling into birch base Then I trimmed the ends of the wire on each tree, added a small bead of hot glue into the hole, and inserted the tree into the base. What a cute little colorful forest! diy yarn tree tutorial I arranged my trees and decided I liked the solid color trees together the best… snowy yarn wreath I secured the trees in place inside the center of the wreath with hot glue. The black and white buffalo plaid ribbon is my favorite pattern right now, and I think it works perfectly with the bright colors of the yarn trees! What do you think? Christmas snow wreath
