Are you getting excited for Christmas?? I am decking all of the halls in our home. We have a little nook in our dining room with a pretty shelf unit that I use to hold our bigger bowls and water pitchers. I thought it would be the perfect place to display a beautiful Christmas village! 

Light Up Houses and Bottle Brush Trees 

I spotted this beautiful Light Up Houses and Bottle Brush Trees set in the Hobby Christmas section at Lobby! I love how it comes in a complete set – it has a beautiful church and 6 different shaped houses, plus bottle brush trees. And there are so many different windows in each building that light up. I couldn’t wait to set it up and see the festive glow of the lights! 

Create a Colorful Christmas Village 

I got the set home and picked out some pastel paint colors that go with my colorful home decor. Then I painted each house a different color. I used a soft pink on the church. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled each building with a beautiful transparent glitter that looks like snow! 

How to Create a Holiday Christmas Village 

Here’s what I did to create this sweet village. I used a shelving unit but you can also create this idea on your mantel, a console table or a shelf in your home! 

• Pick a space for your village. 
• Use a garland to create a nice backdrop for the village. 
• Place the church from the village set in the center. 
• Then put the remaining houses around the church. 
• Add trees.
• Turn on the lights and enjoy the cozy glow of your Christmas village! 

Add Colorful Trees 

Since I wanted my village to be COLORFUL, I added some colorful trees to my village. I used these colorful bottle brush trees that I bought at Hobby Lobby over the past few years, but here are more bottle brush trees you can use.

Glitter Bottle Brush Trees – Glitter Bottle Brush Tree Set will add a shimmering touch to your holiday setting. This set includes four bottle brush trees in shades of green and gold. Each tree is coated in glitter and stands on a gold wood base, adding to its elegance. Display these festive trees in your entryway, living room, or office!

Include DIY Tissue Paper Trees 

I also added these DIY Tissue Paper Trees that I made using Hobby Lobby’s tissue paper, wooden dowels and wood circle discs. They are so easy to make and you can make them in ANY color to match your village. I shared the tissue paper tree tutorial last year with my Colorful Tree Mantel.
