New Shiplapped Fireplace Mantel!

You guys — we just finished this new fireplace! I think it really centers our room and I can’t wait to sit around the fireplace this winter. I will write up a post all about how we made it (big thanks to my friend Frank Smith Renovations. He took my ideas and made them magically appear.

Bring Outside Flowers Inside

One of the things I did was bring in some of the beautiful pink flowers from our pots outside. I love having fresh flowers in the house.

Display Mantel Flowers in Small Vases

These little vases are perfect for displaying small flowers. I picked two different kinds of flowers from our pots and put them in these little bottles to display their glory.

Elevate Mantel Flowers

I used white candle holders and cake plates to display the flowers. The different heights of the vases and cake plates make everything more interesting.

Pot Succulents in Small Copper Mugs

I couldn’t resist these tiny Moscow Mule mugs a few years ago. I love the copper color and their diminutive size made them irresistible. My daughter found the mini succulents at Trader Joe’s and grabbed a few. I love the way the small succulents look in the copper vessels. They really shine and add sparkle to our summer mantel.

Bring Outside Plants Inside

I had this giant fern outside by our hanging swing. I thought a tropical-looking fern might be the perfect accessory for a summer mantel. I brought the fern and the stand inside next to the fireplace.

Add Colorful Pillows

I am a pillow addict. So of course I already had some colorful pillows. I love hot pink in general, and it’s the perfect color for a bright summer accent. I also brought in one of my favorite handmade items – this Hello Globe from ….
