Embroidery Hoop Hanging Ornament Wreath. Three ways to create a beautiful hanging ornament wreath for the holidays!
Embroidery Hoop Hanging Ornament Wreath
I love making wreaths! This year I am matching my decor to a pink, yellow and red rainbow rug that I bought as a Christmas gift to myself from my favorite store, Anthropologie! I thought it would be fun to use in our family with a matching ombre tree until my office makeover is done. I can’t wait to show you the office – I am installing the most beautiful COLORFUL wallpaper!

Make a Hanging Ornament Wreath
I love an ornament wreath. Last year I created one with leftover dollar store ornaments and LOVE it. I am going to hang it on our front door. I was experimenting with different ornament wreaths and thought it might be fun to have the ornaments cascading down through the center of the wreath!
Hanging Ornament Wreath — Three Ways
While I was experimenting, I ended up making three different wreaths with hanging ornaments! I used the same color ornaments that I am going to use on our tree — pinks, yellows and reds. But the best part about this idea is you can use ANY color ornaments that go with YOUR decor!
Hanging Ornament Wreath: Oval Embroidery Hoop
The first wreath I created was this oval embroidery hoop wreath. I love the shape. I used some greenery that I had left over in my Christmas bin.
Hanging Ornament Wreath: Large Round Embroidery Hoop
I decided that the oval embroidery hoop was a little too small for the mantel so I tried making another hanging ornament wreath with a larger hoop and different greenery. Pine needle greenery that I also had in my leftover holiday bin. Longer ribbon on the back of the wreath makes the ribbon seem longer. I also added a few more ornaments to hang down.
Hanging Ornament Wreath: Grapevine Greens and Ornaments
For the last hanging ornament wreath I used a grapevine wreath, added a few greens and then the ribbon and hanging ornaments. I love that the grapevine wreath stands out so well against the white mantel.
Hanging Ornament Wreath: How to Hang the Ornaments
To hang the ornaments I used three different colors of very thin ribbon.
Hanging Ornaments on an Embroidery Hoop
It’s super easy to hang them using an embroidery hoop! You take out the screw at the top of the hoop and there is a natural slit. Take the ribbon, hold it up to the top of the embroidery hoop, estimate about 1 inch for the knot to go through the slit to the back of the embroidery hoop. Measure the ribbon down to the top of the ornament and then back up to make a loop. Slide the ornament onto the ribbon. Make a knot at the top and slip it into the slit. The knot a the end of the ribbon will hold the ribbon into the slit so the ornament is secure.
Hanging Ornaments on a Grapevine or Foam Wreath
If you are using a regular wreath form, measure the ornaments by placing the wreath on a flat surface, then lay the ornaments in the middle where you want them to hang and make the same knot a the ends of the ribbon. Once all of the ornaments are on ribbons, take all of the ribbon and gather the ends together. Take a piece of ribbon and wrap it under the knots and tie it tight. Then hot glue the ribbon bunch onto the top of the wreath. Cover the ends with the ribbon on the front!
That’s it! Such a pretty and easy wreath idea. Much easier and less expensive than making an regular ornament wreath. I love the way the ornaments are cascading down the wreath. You can also hang the ornaments with fishing wire and they will appear to be floating!
