Handmade Heart Magnet Gift Idea
There’s just something special about a handmade gift idea. Knowing that someone you care about made something just for you is a wonderful feeling. This Valentine’s Day give someone you love a handmade heart magnet. It’s soft and pretty and it’s magnetic so they can put it on their fridge or in their office and every time they look at it they will think of you!! I’ve teamed up with SweeTARTS Hearts and SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes to bring you this handmade valentine’s day gift idea. The great thing about SweeTARTS Heart and SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes is they are SO tasty, PLUS they are all ready to be given as gifts. There is a TO and FROM section on each package. All you have to do is make your heart, attach it to the SweeTARTS Hearts or SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes and then just write the name of the person you are giving your gift to on the front. EASY!!

Here’s how you make these EASY Soft Heart Magnets. They are FUN to make with kids too.
Supplies:
Felt or faux leather fabric. I bought 1/4 yard and only used about 1/4 of that. So you don’t need much material.
Embroidery floss. You can use different colors if you want.
a big needle
Cotton balls or quilt batting

- First of all print off the heart template below on cardstock. Cut it out and use it to trace the shape onto the backside of your material.
- I found faux leather which is thinner than actual leather but with the same look.
- After you trace your hearts on the material, cut them out.
- I used cotton balls to stuff my hearts, but you can use pillow batting too. I used three small cotton balls in each heart.
- I threaded my needle using all the strands in the embroidery floss. You need a needle with a big head to fit the embroidery floss.
- I used a blanket stitch – here is a good tutorial if you don’t know how to do this easy stitch.
- Connect the front and back of the heart together with the blanket stitch. I found it was easiest to sew each heart up about half way and then put the cotton balls and magnet inside. Then I continued sewing around the edge of the heart until I came to where I started and then I tied a knot in the embroidery thread and cut off the excess.
- The last thing I did was tie the heart to the SweeTARTS Hearts or SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes packages with bakers twine. I put the baker’s twine through one of the loops in the outside of the heart to attach it.
- The last thing to do is write your name and the name of the person you are giving your Handmade Heart Magnet to!
