I love decorating my home for the holidays. And I think there’s nothing that makes a statement quite like your front door. So when Lowes asked us if we could do a post about welcoming guests for the holidays, I immediately thought of the front porch at the #1905Cottage.
This year I am going for a mostly red and white theme. I love how classic and happy red and white are together. I had such a fun time creating my red and white 12 Days of Christmas Tree which is inside the cottage, and I wanted to continue that theme on the outside.
I also wanted to make some topiaries for each side of the dutch door. I had a couple very small artificial christmas trees and I thought it would be fun to create a container for those and turn them into topiaries. So I headed off to Lowes to see what I could find. I ended up finding these galvanized buckets there and I thought they might be perfect! I brought them home and cut out some vinyl circles with my Cricut Explore machine. Then I put the artificial trees inside and I have instant topiaries.
I fell in love with this snowball wreath from Lowes. It has balls that are covered in sweater-like material. And there was even a matching garland. Perfect! I strung some lights on the trees and some sparkly trim. I added a bow to the side of the wreath. And then I wrapped up some boxes in red and white paper and put them in a crate by the side of the door. I also found some edison lightbulb lights which are really cool and hung them in the garland.
I love how happy and inviting the house looks! Makes me smile every time I see it. Now the cottage is ready for holiday guests!!
And my good friend Amy at The Idea Room also decorated her front porch for the holidays. Her JOY wreath is beautiful and she made those planters. Amazing!!

I love the little Christmas trees! Love how you decorated and used color. I can’t believe the wreath was pre-made like that, I thought you made it! 🙂

Really cute! I’m curious. Do you leave your outside decorations up until Christmas? I started decorating our home at the end of September so I could be completely finished before we leave for our family vacation trip to Disney World on Friday. Everything is done on the inside. We will get to the outside when we get back. Happy Holidays!

This is the 2nd YELLOW front door I have seen this month and I am beginning to want one myself! 🙂 The first one was on an Old Farmhouse and it was so Adorable. Amy’s Joy wreath is Beautiful. I was just over there commenting on her Grandmothers delicious Pie recipe. 🙂
