Hello Tatertots & Jello Readers! I’m Susan visiting from Oh My! Creative and I am thrilled to be sharing my Patriotic Frozen Yogurt Stars with you today! To me red, white and blue are the colors of summer. We have three patriotic holidays from the start of the season until we wrap up summer in September. The Fourth of July is around the corner, but you can make these Patriotic Stars all summer long!

I would like to think these are a little bit healthy, but since they are topped with a red, white and blue chocolate drizzle – I’m not sure they can be called “healthy”…but they are cute! If you are looking for additional Patriotic Treats, you might also like my Red White & Blue Patriotic Star Popsicles or my Firework Chocolate Covered Pretzels!

SUPPLIES

Vanilla Yogurt | Granola | Red, White and Blue Candy Melts

Wilton Silicone Star Mold | Squeeze Bottle or Sandwich Bag

My measurements are based on the ability to make six stars. Use approximately 1/2 cup of granola and mixed it with 1 – 2 tablespoons of the vanilla yogurt. This will help bind the granola together. Take about a teaspoon of the granola mixture and press it into the bottom of the stars. Then spoon in the vanilla yogurt overtop until the stars are full. Give the pan a little giggle now and then to help the yogurt settle. Pop them in the freezer.

Once the stars are frozen, remove them from the freezer and let them sit for a few minutes. The stars should be easy to remove from the mold.

If you are going to make more than six, I recommend making all your yogurt stars, keeping them in the freezer, before starting the decorating process.

I recommend decorating all the stars with one color at a time, keeping them frozen between each color. The chocolate will begin to harden in the bag if left sitting for awhile. Best to use it when it is warm.

To decorate, take a small sandwich bag and cut a tiny hole in the corner. Then melt the candy melts in the microwave, in small time increments, stirring in between. Once you have the right consistency, spoon the chocolate into the sandwich bag. Gently squeeze the bag creating a nice chocolate drizzle! Repeat with each color and pop back in the freezer until you are ready to severe!
