Kids Project — make an easy Summertime Chevron (zig zag)Tote!

Last week I had the opportunity of participating in the I Love to Create Live event.
Video streaming by Ustream
{My segment begins at about 1:30 into the show}

It was so much fun!
There were a few guest designers that were sent the same I Love To Create products, and then we each made something with those products.
Here is a picture of the cool products that they sent me:

Since it was my daughter Hannah’s birthday the day of the show, I decided to make her a Summertime tote for her birthday. Her favorite color is yellow. I stenciled a Chevron pattern on a Hobby Lobby $2 tote and then I also stenciled her name on the tote.
I Love To Create also sent me some beautiful gold glitter paint so I painted the Chevrons in yellow and added some gold glitter over the top.
{This is the same stencil that I used on my Chevron Rug}
Then I used Mr. Tacky Glue to glue on the gems for a little sun at the top.
And I also used Mr. tacky to glue on some hot pink ric rack to the top of the bag.
 Now Hannah has a bag she can take to the pool or to the library this summer and tote around her summertime items. She really loved it!! I think I’m going to make a different tote for each of my kids to use this summer, with each of their favorite colors!

This is a quick and easy project — you can do it in about 20 minutes (plus drying time).
Your kids would probably love to design and paint their own totes for the summer!!

Thank you to the I Love To Create team for letting me be a part of such a fun day. I loved seeing all of the different things that the designers made with the same products!!!
Be sure to check out the I Love To Create site for great giveaways all the time!!
xoxo

    Adorable! What a cute idea. I'm thinking of doing one for myself for summer, or for a new teacher bag next year! 🙂
