I love a fun party! So it was fun to get a package in the mail from Keurig with their new Kold drink maker. I use my Keurig 2.0 hot drink maker all the time.
We had a little Super Bowl party at the 1905 Cottage and the kids were excited to try out the Kold machine. Ginger Lime Fizzy Drink and Keurig Kold machine review.
Here’s the Ginger Lime Fizzy Drink Recipe –
- 1 Canadian Dry Pod for the Keurig Kold drink maker
- 2 ounces of seltzer water
- squeeze of fresh lime juice
- Slice of limeand mint leaves for garnish
- Pop the Canadian Dry pod in the Keurig Kold machine and let the machine produce the drink. Add seltzer water, lime juice and ice cubes. Garnish with slilce of lime and mint leaves.
Some thoughts about the Keurig Kold machine. I was a little surprised at the size of the machine. It’s quite a bit larger than the Keurig 2.0 hot machine that I have. I looked into why and I saw that there is a lot of technology packed into the Kold machine. I learned that it is much harder to cool down liquids than it is to heat them up. It’s quite impressive technology involving different chambers, propellers and flash cooling all of the drinks. It weighs over 20 pounds.
Some other details on how the machine works: To get the temperature down to the coldest temperature, the machine must be plugged in for two hours. However, we found a trick to make the time faster and to cut down on the time you have to wait between drinks — fill the water container on the Kold machine with ice and then water. This brings the temperature down significantly and increased productivity of drink making at the party. A couple of other details — the drink maker is quite expensive as are the packs of drinks – but Keurig is packing some serious technology into this drink maker.
Some of the things that we loved – there are so many varieties of drinks that can be used in the Keurig Kold machine. We looked online and it looks like there are more than 25 different variety of drink options with more on the way – selzers, diet colas, margarita flavors, energy drinks, teas and more. The company sent us some varieties and the kids and I had a great time making drinks. Were the Keurig Kold drinks better than the canned equivalents? On average – no. But I have to say that the Canada Ginger Ale seemed more carbonated than a can of the same brand soda. Also, it’s pretty impressive that the machine can make carbonated drinks — the CO2 element is build right into the pods. The carbonated pods are about twice as big as the non-carbonated pods. And like all Keurig drink makers, you pop the pod in, shut the lid and the machine pours out your drink.
Overall – we have had a fun time with this drink maker and it’s so fun to let party guests pick any drink they wanted and magically have it appear!
