Fourth of July MIni Donut Skewers are a really easy dessert to make for a BBQ, picnic or get-together. Mini Donuts are threaded onto red licorice for a really easy and festive dessert that kids love! You can make this in minutes and kids love them!
I know I am always talking about how much we love our neighborhood – we really do! Last week we had a neighborhood party at our hammock park. It was so fun!
It was on a Saturday and it ended up being a little bit of a crazy day, so by the afternoon I knew I needed to bring something really fast and easy. I decided to make Fourth of July Mini Donut Skewers. Mini Donuts are threaded onto red licorice for a really easy and festive dessert that kids love! I also used loopy red and blue crazy straws on some of the donuts too! And within 10 minutes they were gone!
It’s so easy to make Fourth of July Mini Donut Skewers
Buy mini donuts.
Or you can make them if you want LOL! I bought four different varieties – glazed, powdered sugar, chocolate and crumb cake mini donuts.
Buy a package of red licorice.
Thread the donuts through the licorice. One of each variety. The licorice was a little bit too long so I trimmed one end of the licorice. The licorice can get a little messy, you can wipe off any donut residue on the ends of the licorice with a damp paper towel.
You can also use crazy straws to thread the donuts.
I used red and blue crazy straws with stars on them. I found them at Walmart – a package of 6 for 97 cents!
Lay your festive donut skewers on a pretty serving tray
Bring the skewers to your BBQ, picnic or party and watch the kids make a bee-line for them!
Sit back and congratulate yourself on bringing such an EASY dessert.
I hope you love making them!
I also made my favorite Greek Orzo Pasta Salad for the neighborhood party! You can ask my kids – I seriously make this salad at least once a week. It’s so good! And the leftovers are even better the next day, and the next and the next!!
