It’s always more fun to do things with friends, right?
Shelley and I were tooling around Ikea the other night and we both wanted to try making a Painted Spring Rug. So we BOTH bought this rug:
We liked it because it was pretty neutral, had great texture and was a great price. So we each took our rugs home and painted them.
And then a couple of days later, we met up at my house for some painted fun!
With this stencil – I bet you can guess what we were doing – LOL!
I am excited to show you the finished project!
they are cuuuuute!!!
Do you ever meet up with your girlfriends for crafty projects?
I think it would be so fun to plan a weekend like Meg from Whatever just had with her friends!

That is GORGEOUS I wonder if us unlucky ones could use paint tape instead of stencil to do the stenciling. Hm.
I love crafting with friends. We get together, bring food and craft once every couple months. Craft Night!

That very rug in big size covers my LR floor over the hardwoods. I grabbed it in the as-is section and still don't know why it was there. Can't wait to see your finished product and I may buy it as an entry way rug to paint!

I have been wanting to do this for a rug in my kitchen – can't wait to see the final project! I also LOVE crafting with friends – so much fun. Nothing beats a bottle of wine and a glue gun! LOL!

Okay…show us already! I got together with my bestie 2,000 miles away this last weekend and we worked on projects too. I'll have to get mine up soon!
Mom of Lee says
Love the rug! Where did you get the stencil?
jamie @ kreyv says
I'm glad to see that other people are painting rugs! When I painted my rug, the guy at Lowe's looked at me like I was a crazy person. At least I think that's why he thought I was crazy! It does work, though!
MiMi says
We talk about it all the time but never get around to it. LOL

My girlfriends call me to do the crafty projects for them! LOL 🙂 I love the way you have your latest projects scrolling on your sidebar! Looks great!!

I love crafting with friends, but it's not something I get to do as often as I'd like.
Can't wait to see when you're done. This might be a perfect project to get the "perfect" rug for our back porch!
Dawn says
i have that rug already!! can't wait to see your finished project and think about what i might be able to do with mine!

That's so funny, I just blogged about that. I have a group of friends who I get together with every month and we do what we call "Craft-a-palooza". Basically we come up with a bunch of crafts we want to do then we marathon craft while our kids are in school. We've been slowly putting together a set of decorations we've made for each holiday. Just did one yesterday for Easter. It's so much fun and we somehow get so much done. Finished 5 pretty big crafts yesterday within a 7 hour period. Not bad. Go check it out…

I cant wait to see how you do yours! I'm going to paint the chevron design on a large rug for my bedroom, for my next painted rug.

I LOVE this. I just had a client who fell in love with a rug that was much too pricey so she is doing something similar. Darling. Can't wait to see them.

So fun! Crafting with friends is alot of fun…unfortunately most of my friends aren't crafty! I need to work on changing that:)

Can't wait to see the finished product. Of course it will be chevrons, what else? My friend T and I always talk about meeting for a craft time, but we never do

I'm jealous! I've never been to an Ikea and the closest one is 2 hours away from us.

Those are going to be insanely cute.
Every Wednesday night, my two besties and I get together for what we call BYOGG (bring your own glue gun). Sometimes we work on the same project, sometimes we work on completely unrelated things, and sometimes we get distracted and watch a movie. But it's super great to have that motivation to get projects rolling and to have girl time that's got a focus.
Nicolette @ Momnivore's Dilemma says
Love that project!
Most of my friends are not the crafty type…I'd love to do a girls night in like this, because everything with my friends revolves around food, shopping, and drink…
I'd rather hit Michael's and the GW…LOL…
Maybe I need to find some new friends…
Thanks for sharing!

My best friend (she's the sister I never had) and I like to get together and relax, drink chai tea, crochet, and watch the office or other goofy shows. We've done any other crafty type thing but thats probably cuz we've never thought to do that!
Amanda @ Serenity Now says
So funny you should ask that question, because a friend is coming over this morning to work on some crafty stuff with me. 🙂 I'm hosting an Elmer's Craft and Tell party on Friday night and she's helping me finalize some craft ideas. The kids can play while we craft–I love it!
Can't wait to see the finished products(s). 🙂

I can't wait to see the finished product. I have had the painted rug on my mind ever since I read your post about it. I can't wait to try it myself! Thanks for sharing.
Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says
I can't wait to see it, Jen! This is such a great idea to do especially if you can't find something you have in mind in rugs. I'd love to try a Harlequin pattern and I even have a stencil that could work {it's meant to be a wall stencil in the Harlequin pattern}. Our Ikea is quite a drive away, but I'll bet I could find something in Walmart or Home Depot.

I have one friend who lives here in England who is a crafty friend and we do get together and craft. However, the latest one we tried making bath bombs and had a huge disaster (think bath bombs that grew like alien life forms!). And Martha made it looks so easy…So we ended up going to a cafe here in London called the Make Lounge where you can learn new crafts – we made soap. There was wine and crafts and lots of other cool women. It's the way forward. I blogged about it here: http://tinyurl.com/6jdypso

It's always more fun to do things with friends, though for me it's dining out, movies and shopping. Crafts are rarely involved… 🙂 Can't wait to see the finished project!
