Holiday Kitchen Shelves. Create a modern farmhouse kitchen nook with an upholstered bench and floating wood shelves, decorated for the holidays!
Our little kitchen nook is coming along at the #1891AvenuesCottage. I love the black and white checked theme with bright POPS of color!
How to Style Kitchen Shelves for the Holidays
A couple of weeks ago we hung some simple wood floating shelves. Since I don’t have a mantel to decorate at this time, I am sharing how to style simple shelves for the holidays!https://www.instagram.com/tatertotsandjello/

Group Shelves Around a Larger Piece of Art
I love my signs by my friends at Sincerely Us Shop. I thought it would be fun to have the sign hanging in the middle of the nook and then surround the sign with floating shelves. Since the sign has a wood frame, I found shelves that are similar in color and stain.
Since the main focus of the nook is the large sign, I wanted to keep the shelves pretty simple. I have been collecting little houses for a few years. So I pulled out the ones I had. I also found a couple more houses in the Dollar Spot at Target this year too!
I loved the colorful trees I used in last year’s “Joy to the World” mantel. The wood bases of the trees look great with the wood shelves. I like how the trees bring in some color to my kitchen.
Keep Holiday Items Similar
I think using the trees on all of the shelves and the houses keeps the shelves simple without being too busy-looking. I echoed the colors of the trees with little vintage-looking glass ornaments.
Another thing I did to make the shelves more festive is I added little wreaths to the front of most of the houses.
Alternative Mantel Ideas
Floating Shelves are a great alternative to a mantel. You can find shelves to work with any size space in your home. So even if you don’t have a mantel, you can use these ideas to create a beautiful space for the holidays.
I am excited to switch the items out on our kitchen nook shelves throughout the year! It’s nice to have a space that seems almost done in the middle of a home remodel. Next up for the kitchen nook is a light fixture to ground the space. You can see all of the behind-the-scenes projects on my Instagram stories @tatertotsandjello!
