Ashley’s Grey & Coral Nursery!!

My sister Ashley just had a baby a couple of weeks of weeks ago. Her baby is so adorable – I can’t wait to be able to go out and hold her!!!

My other sister Wendy took these amazing pictures of Ashley’s baby:

I am so excited to have Ashley here to share her daughter’s nursery with us!!

Here’s Ashley –

When I found out I was having a girl, I was so excited to get started on the nursery! When I had my son 3 years ago we lived in an old warehouse converted to lofts and Hudson didn’t have his own room, so getting to design the nursery was a first for me.

I scoured Pinterest and put together a board just for the nursery. I love Pinterest! I think it’s a great way to see all your ideas in one place and edit down your selections.

I wanted to the nursery to reflect the overall style in our home, which is a mixture of vintage and modern pieces. The room was already painted the perfect cool gray color with a hint of blue in it. It’s almost like the color of the clouds on a bright sunny day! I kept that color on the walls and went from there. I wanted the color scheme to be one that can grow with her, so I chose to work with a palette of gray, coral and turquoise.
For her closet, we had standard folding closet doors that I decided to take off. Once I removed the doors, I painted the inside of the closet a bright coral color (Benjamin Moore’s Cool Lava). I added a vintage chest that I picked up years ago at a garage sale that is used as the changing table. Baby girl clothes are so cute (and I LOVE clothes) so I thought it would be perfect to have them on display. As Charley gets older I will move the dresser out into the room and add an Ikea Expedit console for storage.
I reused Hudson’s old crib and purchased bedding from Serena and Lily that tied in perfectly with the color scheme in the room. I added a zebra print rug in gray and white to add some sophistication and fun to the room. I like the juxtaposition of the vintage chest and side table mixed with the modern crib and rocking chair. I also threw in some bohemian elements with the Moroccan leather pouf, woven basket for storage and ceramic elephant on the changing table.
When it came to artwork for the room, I turned to Etsy, where I always find great prints! I also used a bunch of tissue poms in the corner for a fun element and vinyl decals of birdcages on the focal wall above the crib. One of my favorite pieces in the room is the large metal letter “C”. I first spotted it on Pinterest and knew I had to have it!

I used my sister’s specimen art project for inspiration and created my own version with a butterfly paper punch and paint chips from the hardware store. I mounted them on some scrapbook paper and put them in a frame from Ikea. The whole project cost me less than $10!
I hope you enjoyed touring baby Charley’s new nursery. I loved putting everything together and finding inspiration from all different sources!
