Kitchen Remodel Sneak Peek — and a Painted Pantry Door!!

Tatertots & Jello is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

I’ve spent a large part of the summer working on a kitchen/family room remodel.
It started off with my entertainment center redo. And then morphed into painting the kitchen cabinets and island, a slipcover for my sectional, painting my kitchen and other related projects. I think my husband is afraid that this project is slowly encompassing the entire house (shhhhh — he may be right).
entertainment center beadboard remodel
I have a hard time showing little projects along the way. I always think that everyone likes the complete reveal. My friend Shelley was saying that I should do some updates along the way.
So I thought I would share my pretty painted pantry door today.
turquoise pantry door from the side
I love the turquoise and aqua tones that are so popular right now.

They are so soothing. So much of my kitchen and family remodel focuses on these shades, as well as neutrals like grey and white. I thought it would be fun to add a bright POP of color in the kitchen with a happy pantry door.
martha stewart rainwatermartha stewart lagoon
I mixed a little Martha Stewart Rainwater, along with some Lagoon and painted the door. I found it so much easier to do once the door was taken off the hinges. I used an eggshell finish, but I saw a door that was done in high gloss and it looked awesome. I may be painting it again with the high gloss. I think the contrast would look great against the matte grey walls.
Here’s a before picture:

I am still looking for a really cool doorknob to add. Here are a few I am thinking of:

I might just buy another doorknob like the one that I put in my Beachy Laundry Room:

I also miss my chalkboard on the front – it was a great place to put our menu for the week and who was cooking each night. I have quite a bit still to do on the kitchen – today I am working on making some DIY no-sew Roman Shades. Plus, I have a wall treatment I am doing on two of the walls. And a few other things before the big reveal!!

In the meantime – look at these fun painted pantry door ideas. It’s a great way to bring a POP of color into your kitchen. And if you don’t have a pantry, what about an interior door?

I did it. I jumped on the bandwagon and I am so glad I did. I painted my pantry door this week. Not a bright color, like you. A went with black, but the change is dramatic. My husband even loved it. You can see my door here: http://myheart4him.com

Love the aqua door. The color is fabulous.

Jen, I love your pantry door! I've been kind of a stick-in-the-mud for the past few years about color, but lately I'm hankering for some color changes, and turquoises and aquas are wowing me, too. Maybe there's something in the water!

I made a no-sew faux Roman shade this spring and it really was super-easy–no sewing at all, and I'm tickled with how it looks. You probably already have a method for making yours, but let me know if you need something uber-easy.

It'll be fun to see your whole reveal!

The pantry door is a fabulous color…why not make your own chalkboard paint with the same color and put that in the recess instead of doing a magnetic board? Just a thought!

Love your beautiful re-do projects. In the late 1950's my aunt had her kitchen cabinets in the color of your door…It was so pretty. She also had living room furniture that was covered with turquoise and lavendar printed fabric…might sound goofy, but it was stunning! Keep up all that hard work…winter is coming and it will give you so much pleasure to be inside with pretty surroundings.

I LOVE that door. LOVE! After years of beige & very traditional colors, I'm craving somthing different. Working on my mud room right now & anxious to see it finished BRIGHT AND CHEERY 🙂

Seeing your cabinets painted is confirming my desire for white wood cabinets. We're (well – I anyway) are planning a remodel of our kitchen soon & sometimes I second guess my desire for white wood. So timeless though. Question, Do you have brass knobs/hinges throughout? Are you changing them out as you go? All our door knobs and hinges are brass & I was just going to leave them, but I do love the silvery look. A lot to re-do in a whole house.
