Spring Mantel Decor – Plaid and Carrot Signs, DIY Banners and More! Create a bright and happy Spring Mantel with elements of plaid and carrots – from DIY banners, to giant signs and more!
Easy Ways to Create a Spring Mantel
It’s still cold and snowy here but I am dreaming of Spring!! I decided if I decorated for Spring/Easter – maybe it will start getting warmer LOL! One of my favorite areas to decorate in my home is our mantel. I love dressing it up for the different seasons and holidays. This year I decided I love the idea of a plaid mantel theme!
Plus – I’m joining Krista of the Happy Housie and 27 other creatives are sharing their mantel ideas too! Be sure to check them out at the end of the post!
Adorable Handmade Wood Signs
My friend Laura at The Handmade Sign Company makes the cutest signs! I fell in love with her carrot and plaid signs and decided to design my mantel around her cute signs! I love the wood frames and her signs are three-dimensional. The carrots are actually wood elements that are cut out and painted on top of the sign. The same with her plaid sign. The plaid elements are wood cut outs that are on top of the sign. The bunny sign is also from Laura’s shop.
I love the stained background with the white bunny – so cute!!

Laura also has a discount on her signs that you can use to order ANY sign from her shop! Just use TATERTOTSBOGO — Buy one sign, get the other for HALF OFF! Yay!

Four Easy DIY Spring Banners to Make
I also made some easy banners for the mantel. I shared a live tutorial on how to make them last week. Two are simple paper banners — one strips of paper that you staple to make carrots, and the other uses my Pebbles Punch Board to cut easy pennants out with green trim at the top for the carrot tops. I also made a little pennant printable banner with bunnies. I will have that printable up this week. It’s an alphabet so you can say anything you want!!
Simple 10 Minute Spring Pillow Covers
The last banner is made uses cute plaid carrots I found at hobby lobby.I just hot glue the fabric carrots onto a piece of rope twine and added strips of orange and white plaid material that I ripped into pieces. I also used the same plaid fabric in the frame at the back of the mantel and I sewed a couple simple pillow covers to go on our couch!
I have a simple 10 Minute Spring Pillow Cover Tutorial in case you want to make some for YOUR home!
Make a Giant Spring Carrot Sign
The other big element I used in my mantel was a GIANT sign. I’ve been making giant signs for years. It’s so easy. You just use a piece of pine shelving from the hardware store. This one I painted white and then I taped off a triangle and painted it orange. I added some faux leaves and hot glued them to the back, with a ribbon at the front. So easy!! It’s a great way to make a big statement inexpensively!
I’m so happy with my Spring Mantel! Now I’m off to work on my Spring Porch!! Be sure to check out the other 25 Spring Mantel Ideas!! So much Inspiration!!!

This spring plaid mantel is just gorgeous! It is so cheerful and I love seeing orange and green used in decorating. I love the banners – especially the “stuffed carrots” and the orange checked pillow is just waiting for someone to plump down on! Love the carrot print on the mantel and the large carrot with the “fern leaves!” You have excelled in making this vignette!

What a lovely mantle! SO colorful and happy! I am also very much looking forward to spring…only 20 degree F this morning in DC with more snow coming soon, I always find our mantle decors perfect but this one might be my favorite. I hope to make some garland this weekend, inspired by yours.
