HAPPY Holidays – Make DIY Faux Fur Trees!

Hi! We’re Nat and Holly from My Sister’s Suitcase…

We are thrilled to be here as a part of Jen’s “Happy Holidays” series. This Christmas, I wanted to create some of the simple “cone” trees, but with a little texture and whimsy. The result is really quite elegant, but can go rustic or modern too… depending on your decor. Presenting our faux fur tree…

If any of you have made these cone trees before, there are few different options available in craft stores. Paper mache and styrofoam cones are the only ones I had ever used before.

They can get a bit pricey for the larger sizes, but last week I discovered this little secret in the doll crafting aisle…
Plastic Doll Cone {12″} for $1.99
This is a perfect size, and the price can’t be beat 🙂 I also picked up a sheet of craft fur in the same aisle for $2. For under $5, I created a beautiful piece of holiday decor for my mantel!
Here’s how I did it:
Start by covering your cone with the sheet of fur to see where you need to trim it. Cut off the excess fur, and then glue it together in the back with your hot glue gun {on low heat setting}. Pretty simple right? I love it!
Here is a peek at another tree I created with a cozy {and trendy} fabric… plaid flannel! You can get all of the details for my flannel scalloped tree here.
Hope you enjoyed this simple holiday decor idea, here are some of our other Christmas projects:
Thanks for inviting us to be part of this fun series! Merry Christmas everyone!

I need to look for those cones!!
You can see why  My Sister’s Suitcase is one of my newest obsessions.

HAPPY Holidays!
xoxo

It’s almost time for The Weekend Wrap Up Party.
