Adorable Baby Gift {using the Silhouette Craft Cutter}

Do you want to make an adorable, custom baby gift? I am addicted to making fabric projects with my Silhouette. They have this medium called Heat Transfer sheets that are so cool! It come in all sorts of colors and you cut out images with the Silhouette and then iron the images on to clothing. And it comes out so smooth. Every. Single. Time!!
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7CeA7S0YWUk/S4Z4Kqb8Y3I/AAAAAAAAA7g/lkAOFNrPLWA/s400/Heat-Transfer-Material.jpg
My sweet neighbor/friend had a baby boy a week ago and I wanted to make something cute for him. I knew that her kids love dinosaurs so I found some images in the Silhouette Library — all three dinosaurs for $1. I downloaded the images into my library. Then I added some text and inserted the Heat Transfer material. Easy peasy. **Note – be sure to mirror your image before you cut it out!!
The Heat Transfer material has a shiny side that is sticky once you peel the negative space off. Then I flipped it over onto the onesie and ironed the image on to the little shirt. Once the transfer cooled, I peeled the shiny clear coat off and there was the decal — perfect! Each onesie took about 10 minutes to make!
And I just discovered that there is PRINTABLE Heat Transfer material. So you create your image using the Silhouette software on your computer, then Silhouette records the dimensions, you print it on the printable heat transfer material using your color printer, then insert the sheet into your Silhouette and it knows exactly where to cut it. And you iron it on! I need to get some of those PRINTABLE sheets!

Ohhhh – the possibilities! I am learning something new and wonderful every single day!

    Sooo cute! I'm a new silhouette owner and have just started exploring the heat transfer possibilities – so far i've only used the printable heat transfer to make a hunger games t-shirt for my sister (we're obsessed!) but i want to buy some heat transfer to make onesies like yours – did you use the smooth or the flocked transfer? I'm not sure which to go with so figured i'd ask someone who has already experimented!!
    love your blog by the way! i'm a long time lurker!

    These are SO cute! I have three boys! I was shopping for clothes the other day for my 10 month old. While browsing through the horrid selections. I told my husband that I hated how dorky all the boy clothes were and I wanted something with trucks or dinos! So this is PERFECT! Love your blog btw!
