Hey everyone!! I am so excited for this chance to be a guest blogger- I am probably as new as they come at doing these kinda things but will give it my best shot!!!
-My little family moving across the country (far far away from family)
-Husband starting medical school
-Starting to work graveyard shifts in the ER.
Yes -all three of these things have given me a lot of extra time on my hands. I found that by working on projects, I didn’t miss my family far away or my husband upstairs studying his brains out and really made my long and tiring nights in the ER go by pretty quick. Yes I do craft in my scrubs!!
So, what you can expect from my blog: a whole lot of random crafts and ideas- I love trying everything and am truly learning as I go!
So here I am and today I wanted to share some fun ways to get in the the “Irish Spirit” and celebrate St Patricks Day– Do you celebrate St Patricks Day?? It’s one of my favorite holidays. I really don’t know why- maybe cause it means spring is here (or trying to be) or because of my Irish blood, or because it’s just another excuse to eat treats and decorate!! Whatever the reason, I love it. My mom always went all out for every holiday and it was so fun, so now I am trying to do the same with my family.
So first, lets start with decorating. Here are a couple ways to get your house ready for St. Patricks Day!!
Warning: You will notice that I use a lot of what I like to call “poor man’s fabric” or felt. (Remember my husband is a medical student, can’t beat 29 cent felt!!) Love the stuff!!
Shamrock Garland– This was a lot of fun to make and really you can go so many ways with this project- even use the idea for other holidays (easter eggs, stars, leaves etc..)
Now some stuff for the kiddos
Personal Pot o Gold- So every year, when I was little, the “leprechaun” left little green treats for us and just loved it. I want to continue the tradition with my kids but my problem was that I didn’t have anything to put the goodies in like my mom did. So I decided to try making one myself…..
So here is his pot of gold that the leprechaun can fill- I may emroider his name in gold sometime
St Patrick’s T shirts-
For these I went all out and used regular fabric!!! I just took plain shirts and did the whole iron on fusible webbing zigzag stitch thing…similar process as these- (link) I just loved using all the different fabrics for these shirts.
