How to Make a DIY Holiday Scrabble Tile Letter Board. Take an old frame, add paint, wood molding and scrabble letters for a DIY letter board you can use all year!
Use Scrabble Tiles as Letter Board Letters
I love letter boards. Last weekend I was organizing my craft supplies and I found my box of scrabble letters. I used to make necklaces out of them a long time ago. I thought it would be fun to use them as a letter board. So I created a really easy project. This is a letter board that you can use all year round. But I decorated it with a few simple things for the holidays!

Find a Frame
I had a sign that I didn’t need. If you don’t have a sign or frame to use, you can buy one at a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. You can also ask your friends if anyone has an old sign they don’t need. Another option is to put a listing on a free classified site or on a site like freecycle.com.
Paint the Inside of the Frame
I painted over the saying on my sign. If you have an empty frame, you will need to find a piece of plywood or mdf and fit it inside the frame, then paint it.
Wood Molding
Buy wood molding. I used thick, square 1 inch molding. Mine is from Hobby Lobby. But any craft or hardware store will have molding.
Cut the Molding
I wanted about 2 inches on both sides of my ledges. So I cut my molding to the size I needed. A tip — if you buy molding from the hardware store, you can have an associate at the hardware store cut it to the size you need and it’s free.
Stain or Paint the Molding
I stained my molding to the color of my frame.
Attach the Molding to the Back of the Sign
I hot glued my molding but you can also nail your molding onto the back of our frame. I scrabble tiles are small and don’t weigh much so hot gluing them should be fine.
Add the Scrabble Tiles
Now you can spell whatever saying you want. I also bought a little package of miniature bottle brush trees and added those on the ledges.
Where Can I Find Scrabble Letters
Where Can I Find a Frame?
You can buy a frame like the one I used at a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. You can also ask your friends if anyone has an old sign they don’t need. Another option is to put a listing on a free classified site or on a site like freecycle.com.
