Hello, I’m Amy Locurto from Living Locurto and so happy to be sharing a fun and easy DIY Lavender Bath Salt Gift in a Jar with you today!
We’ll be making Lavender Bath Salts and decorating mason jars with washi tape for a simple and quick Christmas gift.
Homemade bath salts are simple to make with only a few ingredients and always a great gift for teachers, neighbors or that hard to buy for loved one.
What makes this gift extra fun is decorating the container with washi tape! A Christmas tree design is easy to make and works perfect on a large mason jar.
Just stick and layer your tape into the shape of a tree, then gently trim the sides with a ruler and craft knife to make a clean and crisp triangle tree shape. This will take no time at all and looks super cute with different patterns of tape!
You can even cover the lid with tape. I made stripes with different colors of washi tape on my lid and also decorated wooden spoons as well. I always love to make crafts with washi tape… you can never have enough right?
Don’t forget to add a ribbon and my free printable tags to complete your gift!
I designed two tags to match the Christmas tree design on the jar. One tag is for the Lavender Bath Salt and the other is a plain Merry Christmas tag incase you want to put something else in your jar. Fill a jar with cookies, candy or anything you like!
How to Make Lavender Bath Salt
You’ll need:
- 2 cups Epsom Salt
- ¾ cup Baking Soda
- 6-10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 1/4 cup Dried Lavender (optional)
Mix your ingredients well in a glass bowl. Let the salt dry overnight then store in an airtight container for gifting or personal use.
Make some extra for yourself and transform your bath into something wonderful. You’ve been working hard on your DIY gifts… you deserve some time to relax!

I saw this on Skip to my Lou’s Facebook page. I made a batch last night and let it sit until this morning. I started another batch about 10 AM. I don’t understand why it has to sit overnight. Should it be covered? Can I let it sit for 5 or 6 hours? Can it be mixed, put in jars that are left open until the next day??? Please help!
Thank you.

What a wonderful and thoughtful gift – I love lavender! I think I’d mix gift this with lavender lotion or lip balm from my favorite boutique store. Part DIY part glam.
