Paper Butterfly Wreath and Free Butterfly Template

I love paper crafting! One of my favorite things about Summer are the beautiful butterflies. So I thought it would be fun to make some paper butterflies for a wreath. I am using my Jen Hadfield Flower Child line of papers, available at various craft stores including scrapbook.com and JoAnn Stores. We’ll be using these whimsical papers to create a stunning Paper Butterfly Summer Wreath that will add a touch of whimsy to any space.

Paper Butterfly Wreath Supplies:

1. Faux boxwood wreath
2. Ribbon (opt for a wider pink ribbon and a thinner yellow plaid ribbon for a playful contrast)
3. Paper (select six different designs from the Flower Child Collection for variety)
4. Gold wire
5. Hot glue gun

How to Make Paper Butterflies:

1. Print the Template: Begin by printing off the butterfly wings template from the provided resource. This template offers two sizes of butterfly wings, allowing for versatility in your wreath design.
2. Cut Out Butterfly Wings: Using the template, carefully cut out the butterfly wings from your chosen Flower Child papers. Remember, you’ll need both sizes of wings for each butterfly. Note that the bottom of the butterfly is narrower than the top.
3. Prepare Gold Wire: Cut a 12-inch piece of gold wire for each butterfly.
4. Fold Butterfly Wings: Gently fold the wings along the indicated lines for both the larger and smaller sets.
5. Assemble Butterflies: Loosely fold the gold wire in half and slip the butterfly wings inside the loop, ensuring that the wider, thinner wings are positioned on top and the thicker, less-wide wings are at the bottom. Pinch the wings together with your fingers and wrap the gold wire around them, securing them in place. Twist the ends of the wire to create antennae, then fashion them into spirals for a whimsical touch. Trim any excess wire using heavy-duty scissors or wire cutters.
6. Once the butterfly is done, lay it flat and use your fingers to push the folds so that the wings open up and pull the top wings to the top and the bottom wings to the bottom to separate the top from the bottom.
7. Create Multiple Butterflies: Repeat the process with all six different paper prints to create six large butterflies. Additionally, use the smaller set of wings to craft three smaller butterflies. Feel free to adjust the number and sizes of butterflies based on your preference.
8. Attach Butterflies to Wreath: Once all your butterflies are assembled, arrange them on your faux boxwood wreath in a pleasing configuration. Once satisfied with the placement, use a hot glue gun to firmly attach them to the wreath.
9. Add Ribbon Bow: Cut two pieces of ribbon, approximately 30 inches in length each. Tie them into a bow and secure the bow to the top of the wreath using hot glue.
10. Admire Your Creation: Step back and admire your Paper Butterfly Summer Wreath, showcasing the beauty of Jen Hadfield’s Flower Child papers. Hang it on your front door, above a mantel, or anywhere that needs a touch of summer cheer.

Other Ways to Use Paper Butterflies

I added these delightful butterflies to my wreath, but there are other ways you can use these paper butterflies!

• Add a small dowel to the butterflies and put them in a vase with flowers
• Punch holes at the top of the butterfly wings on both sides and tie the butterflies together to make a whimsical summer butterfly garland.
• Use small pins and pin the butterflies to a wall or over a fireplace to make the butterflies look like they are flying!

How to Print off the Butterfly Templates

It’s super easy to print off the template. Simply right-click on the butterfly template link. Then open it in a new tab. Right-click on the image again and select “print”.

Use Excess Paper to Create Paper Vases

I used the left-over paper to wrap around tin cans and create paper vases that match the wreath. So easy. Just measure the height of each can, then trim paper to fit and wrap it around the can, securing it at the back with either hot glue or tape. So easy!!

DIY Tassel and Bead Starfish Garland

Hi friends, happy July! We are in full summer gear here. I love decorating for summer. This year I added a coastal summer theme. This DIY tassel and bead starfish garland is SO easy to make and looks perfect on a shelf, over a doorway or on a mantel or table! I added some starfish to my boho wreath and I love the way they look together to bring summer vibes to our home.

Handcrafted Society Theme for July

This month our theme for July was “shells” and, although starfish are not really shells, I think they fit in well with our coastal shell theme. Where to Order Starfish

You might be wondering where you can order starfish from. I found the most beautiful starfish on amazon. They come in a set of 20, in two different sizes. I love that they already are drilled if you want to string them with a small string or wire. I used hot glue to attach them to the garland. But they come with gold string which you can use to hang them or tie them to a wreath.

Supplies to make a Boho Beaded Garland with Tassels

Here is the supply list to make this boho tassel starfish garland

• Macrame String
• Wood Beads – I used three different shapes of beads
• Starfish – I found the best starfish that are already pre-drilled and come in two different sizes.
• Ribbon – optional. You can use a little ribbon to wrap around the base of the tassel. I ended up not using the ribbon I was going to use.
• Boho Wreath – This is the wreath I ordered and added starfish to go with the beaded starfish garland.

How to Make a Beaded Boho Starfish Garland

You can literally complete this garland in under an hour. The longest part is creating the tassels and I will explain how to do that in a separate paragraph below.

• Cut a piece of macrame string the length you want your garland to be plus a 4-8 inches to account for the knots you will add. I always err on the side of caution just to make sure it is long enough. My garland is about 4 feet long and I cut it to be 6 feet to be safe.

• Wrap one end of the string TIGHTLY with tape. This makes it easy to push the string through a small hole in the bead. TIP – if your bead has a small hole, you can push the string through and use a pair of small pliers to pull it through the other end.

• Make a knot at the other end of the string where you want the first bead to be placed. Tip – make sure to leave at least 8 inches on the end to attach the tassel to before the bead.
• Thread the first bead through the string and push it against the knot.
• Tie another knot on the other end of the bead.

• I spaced my beads out about 5 inches apart on the string. I threaded three beads through with knots in between the first group. Space the next bead out 5 inches and attach the following bead with knots on both ends. Now space another 5 inches of string and attached another set of three beads. You will attach the starfish to the spaces in between the beads. Make sure there is room to attach the starfish.

• Now, continue this pattern until you get to the other end of your garland. Tip – make sure you leave at least 8 inches of string on the end to attach the other tassel.

• Hot glue the starfish to the string in between where the beads are.

How to Make a Boho String Tassel

Now it’s time to make the tassels for the ends of the beaded garland.

• Decide how long you want your tassels. Use a piece of cardboard or something to wrap the string around. I used a cutting board that was about 12 inches long. The tassels will be half the length of the cardboard or object you are using. A 12 inch cutting board makes tassels that are 6 inches long.

• Wrap macrame string around your cardboard or object 10 times. Cut the end of the string.
• Take the string off the cardboard or object.
• Cut the string on both ends, so all pieces are the same length.

• Put the cut pieces evenly over the end of the beaded garland string. The end of the string will be in the center of the cut pieces.
• Wrap the string around the cut piece and tie in a knot a the top of the bundle.
• Cut the end of the string right next to the knot.
• And you can use a little bit of hot glue to secure the cut end so the knot doesn’t fray and come apart.

• Fold the ends of the cut pieces down together, around the loop of the string you just cut.

• Use an 8 inch length of string to tie the looped string at the top of the tassel.
• Start by putting a dot of hot glue where you want the top of the tassel to be.
• Then wrap the string around the head of the tassel 3-4 times.
• Use another dot of hot glue to secure the string around the head of the tassel.

• Now, when the hot glue cools, cut the end of the string very close to the hot glue. Also, you can use another dot of hot glue to keep the end from fraying.
• Now do the same steps on the other end of the beaded garland.

Patriotic Red White and Blue Star Wreath

One of my favorite ways to decorate for Summer is using a patriotic theme! Red white and blue is so festive and perfect for Fourth of July, if you celebrate in the United States; and red and white for Canada Day. This year I created this festive little wreath using wood stars I ordered online. It is so easy to make!

Handcrafted Society June Challenge

It’s time for our monthly Handcrafted Society challenge. This month the challenge was paint something red, white and blue. So of course I immediately thought of the Fourth of July. And in Utah we also celebrate our state’s birthday on the 24th of July. So decorating with red white and blue is something I love to do in June and keep up throughout the month of July! How to Make an Easy Red White and Blue Star Wreath

As I said, this is a very easy wreath to make! I also have a tip on how to paint the stars that makes it easy and you won’t get any paint on your hands! I’m sharing that below.

Patriotic Red White and Blue Star Wreath Supplies

Here are the easy supplies, just click on the link and have it sent right to your door!

• Grapevine Wreath
• Pack of 100 Small Stars
• Red Spray Paint
• White Spray Paint
• Blue Spray Paint
• Duct Tape
• Red and White Ribbon

How to Easily Spray Paint Stars

I used to paint small items with a small brush and figured getting paint all over my hands was just part of the process. Then I discovered an easy way to do it! This is what you do:

• Get a cardboard box.
• Cut a piece of duct tape that is the length of the box.
• Cut two smaller pieces of duct tape.
• Put the longer piece of duct tap eon the box with the sticky side UP.
• Attach the two smaller piece of duct tape at both ends to secure the long piece. These pieces of duct tape are put down with the sticky side DOWN to secure the long piece.
• Then lay the stars on top of the sticky duct tape.
• Spray paint the stars and let them dry.
• Do this with each color spray paint that you want to use. I did it three times with red, white and blue spray paint.

How to Make a Patriotic Red White and Blue Star Wreath

Here are the steps to make this easy wreath!

• Spray paint the stars, using the steps shown above.
• After stars are dry, lay the wreath on your work surface.
• Lay the stars on the wreath until you have the placement you desire.
• Use a hot glue gun to secure each star to the wreath.
• Add a bow.
• Enjoy your festive patriotic wreath!

Create a Patriotic Mantel

I used the red white and blue star wreath as the focal point for my patriotic mantel. I hung the wreath on top of a frame that has blue and white gingham fabric inside. To easily hang the wreath, I took a piece of white thread, wrapped it around the top of the wreath and then tied it into a large loop. I looped the other side of the thread over the finials at the top of the frame. If you are using a square frame, you can take the other end of the thread loop and put it over the top of the frame and secure it with tape so the wreath will hang in the middle of the picture frame.

Add Patriotic Elements

Other elements that I used to create this patriotic mantel are:

• Large White Frame
• Blue Gingham Fabric
• Red white and blue runner
• Patriotic pennant banner
• Small flags
• Red and white striped vase

Summer Ideas I Love This Week

Happy weekend, friends! How was your week? We are in the full heat of summer here and getting ready to go on a trip to visit family. We are also making headway on my kids’ bathroom remodel!! Here are a few photos of where we started and where we are now! I can’t wait!

Bee Kind Summer Beaded Beehive Wreath

I love seeing the bees in our yard during summer. I know that they are pollinating the plants and flowers so they bloom! I’ve been really fascinated with beehives, also called skepts, this year. I think beehives are the perfect theme for summer! I’ve made a few different sized beehives out of old pots and paper containers this year. I thought It would be fun to create a summer wreath with a beehive theme!

Make Beehives Out of Old Coffee Pods

As I was creating the beehives for this wreath I searched around for a very small container that I could wrap in twine that is beehive shaped. I discovered that coffee and hot chocolate pods are the perfect size and shape! I love recycling things to use as I craft.

How Do You Make a Twine Beehive?

I shared the process of making the beehives in my post about our backyard with DIY Beehive Instructions. So head over there if you want more detailed instructions. But basically you flip the pod over so the bigger size is down. Now add a line of hot glue to the base of the pod and wrap it with twine. Then continue wrapping the pod and glueing it as you go until you get to the top of the pod. Now wrap it along the top, cut the end and glue the end into the center of the circle you have created. To get a more rounded look at the top I folded up half a sheet of paper towel and taped it to the top of the pod.

Supplies to Make a Beaded Beehive Wreath

Here are the supplies needed to create this pretty summer wreath. I have links to the supplies to make it even easier!

• 14-inch Beaded Wreath Form
• Twine
• Coffee or Hot Chocolate Pods (I figure you can find these and don’t need links LOL)
• Greenery (I used 1 bunch of fern leaves)
• Yellow Flowers
• Pink Flowers
• Scrapbook Paper (I used paper from my new Pebbles Peaceful Heart line – now in JoAnn Stores!)
• Thicker Letters to Spell Out Bee Kind (I used the thicker letters from my Peaceful Heart line)
• Heart Embellishment (this is also from my Peaceful Heart line – at JoAnn Stores)
• Ribbon

How to Make a Summer Beaded Beehive Wreath

Here are the easy instructions on how to make this summer beaded wreath in under an hour!

Make Beehives

Wrap coffee pods with twine, Check out my Beehive Outdoor Post for more detailed instructions on how to do this.

Cut Fern Leaves Apart

Take the fern bundle and use heavy scissors or wire cutters to cut the leaves apart.

Glue Fern Leaves to Beaded Wreath Form

Take 5-6 fern leaves and glue them to one side of the wreath form, the ends will be at the center of the wreath, with the leaves spread outward. Glue the ends of the leaves to the center of the beaded wreath. Then glue the leaves along the beads so the leaves fan out along the wreath. Use as much glue as you need to get them to hold. Do this on both sides of the wreath.

Glue the Beehives onto the Wreath Form

Now place the beehives where you want them to go on the wreath. Use glue to glue them onto the wreath. I centered the beehives on the wreach so the base of the beehive was in the center of the beads to give it more stability.

Use Ferns to Secure Beehives

The beehives are pretty heavy so I also glued the beehive to the fern leaves to give it a little more stability. You can also place flowers under the beehives to give them more stability and help them stay centered. Use a lot of glue. You can also flip the wreath over and glue from the back to get everything to stay.

Add Flowers

Now fill in the wreath with your flowers. You can use the bigger flowers to attach them to the beehives and to the ferns and beads so that everything is secure.

Make Banner

Since my wreath form was 14 inches wide at the biggest point, I flipped my paper sideways to cut the banner wider than 12 inches. I cut the paper into a banner with the widest point at the middle – 3 inches high. Then trimmed the edges square. I placed the banner at the top of the wreath where it was 10 inches in diameter and folded the edges over the beads. But first I added the thickers and heart brad.

Add BEE KIND Thickers and Heart Brad

Then I measured the middle of the banner and added the heart brad. I then added the BEE on the left side of the brad and the KIND on the other side.

Attach Banner to Wreath

Then I put the banner at the top third of my wreath, folded the edges over the beads and glued both side of the banner to the beads on both sides of the wreath so the banner was taught across the wreath.

Add Ribbon

I added some happy yellow ribbon to the top of the wreath, tied it in a knot and hung it up! So Simple!

Hang It Up

Now you can hang it up on your mantel, on a wall or on your front door! I am going to hang it on my front door this week. I plan on creating a Bee-Themed Summer Porch. So stop by in a few days to see how it turns out!

Dollar Store Neutral Patriotic Wreath

I love the dollar store! It’s full of all kinds of awesome things that you can use to organize your home as well as decorate! I love finding items in the dollar store that I can transform into items that fit in with my home decor style. I wanted to create a neutral star wreath to keep up this summer from memorial day through July so I headed over to my dollar store to see what kind of patriotic items they had!

Summer Wreath Ideas

I’m joining some friends who are all sharing summer wreath ideas. Scroll down to the bottom of the post and see the beautiful ideas. There’s something so welcoming about a summer wreath!

Neutral Patriotic Decor

I love red white and blue, but sometimes those colors might not go with other colored items in your home! For example, I have a bright pink rug I love using in our family room and although the pink is gorgeous, adding red white and blue in that room with a pin rug would be chaotic. On the other hand, adding this neutral wreath would look great with that pink rug or any other color combination!

What Supplies Do You need to Make a Neutral Patriotic Wreath?

Here are the materials I used to make this Dollar Store Neutral Patriotic Wreath

• Green Wreath – I used one I had, but here is a similar one.
• Dollar Store Star – This is the one I used.
• Dollar Store Rope – This is the rope I used.
• Ribbon – Here are some ribbons that are similar to the ones I used.

Dollar Store Star

I found a glittery star door hanging and I knew the star shape and size would be perfect for the center of my wreath. You have to use your imagination a little when looking for items. I looked beyond the glitter and saw the possibilities of the star shape!

Cotton Rope

Another item I found at the dollar store was cotton rope! It’s perfect for all kinds of neutral decor! Last month I shared the beehives I made out of plastic pots. I used jute for that project, but you can also use the same neutral rope! There are so many possibilities with this material.

How to Make a Neutral Star Wreath

It’s so easy to make this wreath. In just a few minutes you can have a patriotic wreath that can be used with any decor!

Deconstruct the Dollar Store Star

The first thing I did was unwrapped the star. It takes a few minutes because the glitter is held onto the star with wire that is wrapped around little posts throughout the star. Be patient and unwrap all of the wire. I got anxious when I was filming my video and pulled too hard and broke the top of the star. That made it more difficult when I was wrapping it later. Being patient in this step will save you time later.

Hot Glue The Rope to The Star

Once the star is bare, you can cut off the little posts. You can use wire cutters or scissors to do this. I didn’t cut off the posts and although you can’t tell they are there, I think cutting them off would make wrapping the star easier.

Hot Glue the Rope Every 2-3 Wraps

To keep the rope tight, ue a dab of hot glue on the star frame every 2-3 wraps to keep the rope in place.

Glue Rope Ends Together

Chances are you will need 2-3 rope packages to wrap the whole star. When you get to the end of one rope strand, hot glue the end to the back of the star. Then take the new rope strand and place the end next to the end of the pervious rope strand, connecting the two rope strands together. It may seem a little bulky but you will not be able to see the bulk at the back of the star. Continue wrapping until you get to the original rope strand glue the end of first rope strand.

What Do You Do If The Strands Fray?

Chances are you will not use all of the rope strands to the end, so you will probably need to cut the end of the strand and glue it to the back. The rope strands are taped at each end, so the rope will start to fray. Don’t get stressed, just glue the strands to the back. I had to use a bit of glue to coat all of the fray.

Use Ribbon to Tie the Top of the Star to the Top of Your Wreath

Use two coordinating ribbon to attach the star to the top of my wreath. Loop the ribbon under the top of the star, then under the top of the wreath and tie it at the top. So easy!

Spring Butterfly Pennant Wreath

This bright and cheerful spring wreath will welcome visitors and create a festive front door or freshen up a wall for the season. I love how easy it is to create! The butterflies are cut out of scrapbook paper so it’s easy to match them to the color of your door or home decor!

Cut Butterflies Out of Paper for Spring Wreath

Once you pick out the paper patterns you want to use on your wreath, it’s time to cut them out. There are several ways you can do this.

• Use a Die Cut Machine with a Butterfly die.
• A craft cutting machine.
• Cut butterflies using a butterfly punch.
• Buy butterfly ephemera. The gold and white butterflies are ephemera in my Pebbles line. Here are the gold and white butterflies. The black and white ones are here.
• Draw simple butterfly shapes and cut them out with a small pair of scissors.

I used my Sizzix Vagabond Die Cut Machine and a thin cuts butterfly pack with three different size butterfly shapes. If you are interested in how a Sizzix die cut machine works, I have a post about How to Use a Die Cut Machine you can check out!

Jen Hadfield Reaching Out Paper

I used my new Pebbles Jen Hadfield Reaching Out paper line for this project! You can buy the paper either individually or in a big 12×12 book! The paper line will be in JoAnn Stores this month! I am so excited!!

Create a Big Pennant

You can sew a pennant out of canvas. Or you can buy one. Here’s a link to a pair of pennants that that you can buy and use one on the wreath.

Make a Spring Saying on the Pennant

I wrote “Spread your wings and fly!” on my pennant. I think the saying is perfect to go along with butterflies! But you can spell out anything that you want. I used thicker letters from my Pebbles “The Avenue” line. I love the floral pattern on these thickers. Other ways you can add letters to your pennant are cutting out letters with a die cut machine, using thickers, cutting out letters with a craft cutting machine or hand lettering a saying with permanent pens! Thickers do have adhesive backs but since I was adding the thicker letters to fabric, I added a dab of hot glue to the back to make sure they stay on the pennant.

Attach Butterflies to Wreath

I also added the butterflies to my wreath with hot glue. If you are using the wreath inside and don’t want to damage the leaves, you can add the butterflies with glue dots instead of hot glue.

Put a Bow on Your Wreath

The last thing you will want to do is add a bow to the top of the wreath. I created the bow, then attached it to the wreath with a small piece of wire. I hung the pennant on the wreath by looping it over the bow.

Enjoy a new Spring Butterfly Wreath

Hang the wreath on your door, or on a wall or a mantel. The butterflies and spring saying will add spring cheer to your home!

Create a Spring Porch

I added my new spring butterfly wreath to my spring porch. Since my porch is covered I think the paper butterflies will be fine. If you don’t have a protected door I would either mod podge the butterflies with outdoor mod podge or laminate them before you add them to your wreath.

My friend at Nicole at Nickle Designs sent me the cutest porch mats! This is the Spring Blooms mat with their black and white boho rug underneath!! Isn’t it the cutest!! Rainbow Pride Hydrangea Wreath

We love June and Pride month. With a child who is gay I am proud to support my child, be an ally and support love and equality for all LGBTQ+ kids. (see more about my personal story and resources at the bottom of this post) I’m an ally and support my LGBTQ+ friends and family. Utah has a Pride parade that peacefully marches just blocks from our new home.

What Colors Can You Include in a Rainbow Wreath?

The main colors in the rainbow are — red, orange yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The colors that are significant for the LGBTQ+ flag are — red = life, pink = passion, orange = healing, yellow = sun, green = nature, turquoise = art, indigo = harmony, violet = spirit.

Rainbow Hyrandgea Wreath Supplies

• Wreath form (I used a flat mdf form but you can use a grapevine wreath, foam wreath form or even cardboard will work)
• Hydrangea flowers (use as many on the rainbow spectrum as you want. I’ve listed the colors above)
• Ribbons (optional)
• Hot glue and glue gun
• Wire (if using a grapevine wreath form)

Steps to Make a Rainbow Flower Wreath

This wreath is so easy to make! In minutes you can have a bright and beautiful rainbow flower wreath!

Cut the Stems Off Flowers

I used wire cutters to cut the stems off tje hydrangea blooms. Cut close to the base of the flower head.

Arrange Flowers on the wreath form

I arranged the flowers in their placement on the flag = red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and white (just because it’s pretty).

Hot Glue the Flowers to the Wreath Form

Using a flat wreath form or cardboard:

If you are using a flat wreath form it can be a little tricky to hot glue the flowers onto the wreath form since the ends of the flower heads stick out under the flower. I put a dab of glue at the point of the flower base and set it on the wreath form. Once I did this to each flower and the glue cooled, I flipped the form over and then glued some of the flowers at the edges onto the back of the wreath form. This keeps the flowers more securely onto the form.

Using a round wreath form or grapevine wreath form:

If you are using a styrofoam or foam wreath form you can stick the backs of the flowers right into the wreath form. Make a hole with the sharp point at the back of the flower into the wreath form, then pull it back out, add a dab of hot glue and push the stem back into the hole. For a grapevine wreath, use wire or hot glue the flowers onto the wreath form.

Cut Lengths of Colored Ribbon to Make a Bow

This is optional. You can leave the wreath plain and hang it up or you can make a bow with colored ribbon. I cut 9 different colors of ribbon and wrapped it around the base and tied it into a bow.

I”ve been on a journey as a mom of a LGBTQ+ child for the past 12 years. I will write a post sharing more of my journey. I’ve struggled because my child is very private and I felt sharing too much information would violate their privacy. But at the same time I had such a hard time knowing how to help my child navigate coming to terms with their orientation and well being.

My sister also has a gay child and she has been a wonderful example of how to support her child and other LGBTQ kids. She is now president of Mama Dragons – a world-wide support group for moms of kids on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Encircle Together

Encircle Toogether is another wonderful resource, especially if you are in Utah. Encircle Together is a youth and family resource center with locations in Provo, Salt Lake and St. George Utah. Encircle locations offer drop-in hours, friendship circles, education programs as well as therapy. And if you aren’t in Utah Encircle Together is online with services, articles and books you can access to help families navigate and grow stronger!

Neutral Wood Flag and Flower Fourth of July Wreath

I shared our neutral Fourth of July mantel yesterday. Neutral is not what I normally create because I love COLOR. But I have a hot pink rug in our family room and I really wanted to keep it out this summer AND also decorate for the Fourth. So I decided a neutral mantel would be the perfect thing to go with our PINK room.

Plus neutral decor is perfect for farmhouse or cottage decorating, especially for holidays! It was really fun to create and I love the way it looks in our room.

Wood Flag Inspiration

The inspiration of the entire mantel started with a wood flag I found in Target’s Dollar Spot. I loved the different shades of wood and I thought it would be so cute in the middle of a wreath!

Other Wood Elements for Fourth of July

I also found a couple of wood garlands in the dollar spot. One is a lighted star garland and the other is flat stars in different shades of wood. I used these in the garlands under the mantel.

How to Make a Neutral Wood Flag and Flower Fourth of July Wreath

Wrap the wreath form in ribbon or fabric

Hot glue the hydrangea tops around the wreath form. I alternated white and light green. But you can do red and white too!

Loop ribbon through the back of the flag and attach it to the wreath form.

Add ribbon to the top of the wreath form and make a bow

Make a Statement By Framing the Wreath on a Frame

I stained a large frame and covered the glass with burlap. Then I hung the wreath from the top of the frame. I love the way it make a focal point on our fireplace!!
