<p style="text-align: center;">Have you seen their modern and graphic stencils?? They are amazing!</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">So when Royal Design Studios told me about their new <a href="http://www.royaldesignstudio.com/products/large-scallops-wall-stencil"><strong>Large Scallop Stencil</strong> </a>&#8211; I knew I wanted to try it. I love the scallop pattern.</p>
<p><a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-stencil-curtains-at-Tatertots-and-Jello.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50271" title="scallop stencil curtains at Tatertots and Jello" src="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-stencil-curtains-at-Tatertots-and-Jello.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="906" srcset="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-stencil-curtains-at-Tatertots-and-Jello.jpg 600w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-stencil-curtains-at-Tatertots-and-Jello-199x300.jpg 199w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-stencil-curtains-at-Tatertots-and-Jello-99x150.jpg 99w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-stencil-curtains-at-Tatertots-and-Jello-150x227.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I originally wanted to stencil my entryway with the stencil, and I am still working on that concept. But in the meantime, I thought it would be fun to stencil some drapes with the Large Scallop Stencil.<span id="more-50265"></span></p>
<p><a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/martha-stewart-fabric-medium.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50269" title="martha stewart fabric medium" src="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/martha-stewart-fabric-medium.jpg" alt="" width="316" height="400" srcset="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/martha-stewart-fabric-medium.jpg 316w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/martha-stewart-fabric-medium-118x150.jpg 118w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/martha-stewart-fabric-medium-237x300.jpg 237w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 316px) 100vw, 316px" /></a></p>
<p>I love stenciling on fabric. I found some super simple fabric panels from Target ($30 for two panels). To get the best results when stenciling on fabric, add some fabric medium to your paint. The fabric medium makes the paint softer and more flexible and also makes the fabric wash better: the paint will fade less.</p>
<p><a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/7-tips-for-stenciling-on-fabric-at-tatertotsandjello.com_.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50270" title="7 tips for stenciling on fabric at tatertotsandjello.com" src="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/7-tips-for-stenciling-on-fabric-at-tatertotsandjello.com_.jpg" alt="" width="532" height="502" srcset="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/7-tips-for-stenciling-on-fabric-at-tatertotsandjello.com_.jpg 532w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/7-tips-for-stenciling-on-fabric-at-tatertotsandjello.com_-150x141.jpg 150w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/7-tips-for-stenciling-on-fabric-at-tatertotsandjello.com_-300x283.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 532px) 100vw, 532px" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Here are some simple tips for stenciling on fabric:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Choose your fabric carefully. The thicker the material, the less the paint will soak through. If you&#8217;re using a thinner fabric, you can put wax paper or a piece of paper underneath.</li>
<li>Spray the back of the stencil with spray adhesive. This helps the stencil adhere to the fabric and there will be less bleed through.</li>
<li>I use interior latex paint when I stencil on fabric. You can also use fabric craft paint, but I&#8217;ve had great results with interior latex following the next tip:</li>
<li>Add fabric medium to your paint. Fabric medium makes the fabric less stiff once painted. It also helps the paint adhere to the fabric &#8211; so you&#8217;ll have better results if you have to wash the painted fabric.</li>
<li>I like using a foam roller to put the paint onto the fabric. Sometimes I <a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/2011/08/stenciled-pillows-tutorial-new-martha.html" target="_blank">smooth the paint with a sponge</a> after I&#8217;ve rolled it on. You can also use a <a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/2013/03/five-stencling-tips-and-tricks.html" target="_blank">foam pouncer</a> tool.</li>
<li>When applying the paint, brush the paint from the edge of the stencil into the middle of the open area. That way you are not pushing the paint underneath the stencil (and ruining the lines).</li>
<li>Once you have stenciled your fabric, use a hot iron to &#8220;set&#8221; the paint onto the fabric.</li>
</ol>
<div>(<a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/2011/08/stenciled-pillows-tutorial-new-martha.html" target="_blank">More stenciling tips here</a>, too!)</div>
<p><a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/large-scallop-stenciled-fabric-curtains-.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50272" title="large scallop stenciled fabric curtains" src="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/large-scallop-stenciled-fabric-curtains-.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="906" srcset="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/large-scallop-stenciled-fabric-curtains-.jpg 600w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/large-scallop-stenciled-fabric-curtains--99x150.jpg 99w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/large-scallop-stenciled-fabric-curtains--198x300.jpg 198w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">One of the things I love about Royal Design Studios is that they make it easy to line up the stencils. Each stencil has registration marks and to help line up the previously stenciled areas with the new areas to be stenciled. On a pillow or drapes you might not notice a small shift in alignment, but it&#8217;s really important to be able to create a straight line when stenciling a room.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Be sure to check out the <a href="http://www.royaldesignstudio.com/">Royal Design Studio</a> site for all kinds of great stenciling ideas and videos.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I stenciled these curtains in one evening while my hubby was out of town. The next day I hung them up &#8212; and voila &#8212; I have a statement for my room PLUS they are so functional and pretty. Yay!!</p>
<p><a href="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-curtins-bedroom.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50273" title="scallop curtins bedroom" src="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-curtins-bedroom.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="906" srcset="https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-curtins-bedroom.jpg 600w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-curtins-bedroom-99x150.jpg 99w, https://tatertotsandjello.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/scallop-curtins-bedroom-198x300.jpg 198w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
