With only a few days left until the official arrival of spring, anticipation for warmer weather and blossoming landscapes is palpable. As we bid farewell to winter’s chill, it’s time to welcome the vibrant hues and fresh scents of the new season. Personally, I couldn’t wait to infuse my home with the spirit of spring. Inspired by the beauty of nature and the fluttering of butterflies, I embarked on a crafting adventure to create a sweet Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath. Envisioning this wreath adorning my kitchen hood, I sought to capture the essence of spring with a touch of rustic charm and whimsy. Join me as I take you through the simple steps to craft your own delightful spring wreath

Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath Supplies:

• Grapevine wreath
• Butterflies in two different sizes
• Moss
• Wide plaid ribbon
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Puffy paint
• Matte craft paint
• Fine glitter

Directions to Make a Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath:

Paint the Butterflies:

Begin by painting the butterflies to add a pop of flight and texture to your wreath. Apply a heavy coat of puffy paint to create a 3D effect. Once dry, layer two coats of matte white paint, sprinkling a touch of fine glitter while the paint is still wet for a subtle sparkle.

Prepare the Wreath Base:

Take the grapevine wreath and carefully tuck moss into various sections, ensuring even coverage and a natural appearance. Use hot glue to secure the moss in place, lifting sections of the wreath and applying glue as needed.

Attach the Butterflies:

With the moss in place, it’s time to add the butterflies. The butterflies typically come attached to wire, so simply apply hot glue to the wire ends and position them along the wreath, spacing them unevenly for a more organic look. Leave a space in the center where the bow will be placed.

Create the Bow:

Crafting a beautiful bow is essential for adding a charming finishing touch to your wreath.

• Cut a 4-foot section of ribbon, leaving about 12 inches as a tail.
• Make four loops of equal size and arrange them on your work surface with two loops on each side.
• Secure the loop ends with hot glue at the center, ensuring they remain intact when the ribbon is tied.
• Take another 12-inch length of ribbon and tie it tightly around the center of the bow, knotting it at the back and tucking the ends underneath.
• Fluff up the bow loops and attach it to the bottom of the wreath using hot glue. T
• rim the ribbon ends into an inverted V shape for a polished look.

As we eagerly await the arrival of spring, there’s no better way to usher in the season than with a charming DIY wreath. With just a handful of supplies and a dash of creativity, you can create your own Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath to adorn your home. Spring Mushroom and Flower Theme

I love a theme for Spring! I was debating between strawberries and mushrooms for my Spring front porch. When I found this mushroom doormat from Anthropologie, I decided to make a mushroom and moss wreath to go along with it! I love the mushrooms and the flowers for Spring!

Wooden Mushroom Set

As I was debating how to make the mushrooms, I found this wooden set of 21 mushrooms. I love that the set comes with so many different sizes and shapes of mushrooms. Aren’t they just so cute!! I decided to make TWO mushroom and moss wreaths – one for my front door and the other for our mantel. I am going to have a mushroom-themed mantel too for Spring! The wooden mushroom set is an amazing price at $17.99.

Supplies to Make Spring Mushroom and Moss Wreath

Here are the supplies you need to make this trendy and cute Spring mushroom and moss wreath:

• grapevine wreath
• green spanish moss
• green moss
• small faux flowers
• butterfly embellishments
• wooden mushroom set
• hot glue gun

How to Make a Spring Mushroom and Moss Wreath

Here are the easy instructions to make this happy Spring wreath!

• Lay the grapevine wreath on your work surface.
• Lay spanish moss around the wreath.
• Now layer the natural moss pieces around the wreath.
• Hot glue the spanish moss and natural moss onto the grapevine wreath. I just lifted up sections and glued everything together while it was on the grapevine wreath.
• Paint the mushrooms. I used six different colors, including gold. Then I painted the stems gold.
• After the mushrooms have dried, arrange the mushrooms on the wreath.
• Hot glue the mushrooms onto the wreath.
• Add faux flowers to the wreath.
• Hot glue the flowers to the wreath.
• Hang up your new Spring wreath!

Make a Succulent and Mushroom Wreath

The second wreath I made for our front door is a little more sturdy to be outside. It still has a base of moss, but I used big plastic fern leaves on top of those to protect the moss and keep it in place since it’s going to be outside. I also used succulent flowers instead of the delicate flowers I used on the first mushroom and moss wreath.

What Colors Should the Mushrooms be Painted for a Mushroom Wreath?

I spent a long time deciding what color to paint the wooden mushrooms. I love the look of classic mushrooms with red tops and white dots. But our home and our front door is more pinks and yellows so I went with those colors. six paints I used for the wooden mushrooms are: a bright pink/red, a blush pink, an orange/pink, a light orange, a light yellow and gold. But you can use ANY color! I think using stains for the tops of the mushrooms would be super pretty and neutral too!

My Favorite Things This Week

Happy Saturday, friends! How was your week? Are you working on anything new? This week the weather started warming up which made me excited for outdoor living! One of the big projects we will be working on this Spring is turning the top of our backyard into an outdoor living room. Our yard steps up in the back. You walk outside and there is a large patio and at the end of the patio is a retaining wall and steps that lead to a top part of the backyard. Since we have lived here that top part has been just wood chips and we really haven’t used it. But I’ve partnered with Backyard Discover and we are going to make that top part into the most usable and beautiful outdoor space!

Spring Cottage Porch Decorating Ideas

I always get so excited when the weather starts warming up and it’s time for porch sitting! This year I kept things pretty simple with some easy ideas!

6 Spring Porch Ideas

I am joining my #SeasonalSimplicity friends who are sharing the prettiest porch ideas. And don’t worry! If you don’t have a front porch, these front doors are so inspiring!

Small Porch Ideas

We have a small back entry. I guess you could call it a porch even though it’s not covered. We don’t have a garage so this is where we park our cars and so we use this door a lot. At Christmas time I painted the back door to match our front door. I also added the prettiest Delaney Hardware doorknob. And I switched out the motion sensor light for a pretty hanging lantern. It made such a difference!

Small Porch Ideas: Add Plants Vertically

Since the space isn’t very big, I thought it might be nice to add some plants vertically. I found this screen and added pots that hang on the screen with clips that attach on the screen and rings that fit around the pots. This screen would also be so cute in a kitchen and you can pot your herbs to use all year round!

Small Porch Ideas: Add a Bold Doormat

A bold doormat can really make a statement on a small porch. I used this pretty leopard doormat and I love the contrast of the doormat with the greenery and pink door!

Spring Front Porch Ideas

Since I have more room on my font porch, I was able to decorate a little more for Spring. But I still keep the overall vibe very simple with some easy projects!

Spring Front Porch: Add Greenery

Faux olive garlands around the door feel so fresh. I brought our faux olive tree outside and put it in the cutest scallop basket!

Spring Front Porch: A Simple Spring Wreath

This is the easiest 5-minute wreath. took a simple green wreath and added a giant wicker egg. I just used wire to attach the egg to the wreath. I have a matching scallop basket that I put inside my entry room.

Spring Front Porch: A Coordinating Doormat

A doormat is a great way to add color to your spring porch. Instead of a traditional doormat, I added a simple cotton pink gingham rug. It matches my door and it’s washable which is a great idea in the spring since there might be wet elements this time of the year.

Spring Front Porch: Cozy Pillows and Blankets

Spring can be a little chilly, so adding some cozy pillows and a throw is perfect for those chilly mornings or evenings. This sweet blanket is so soft and I love the little ruffle at the bottom. I brought a bench from the other side of the porch over in front of the door for spring.

Easy Rainbow Butterfly Spring Wreath

I am loving rainbows for spring this year! There’s something so happy about all of the rainbow colors, especially for Spring! I made a Rainbow Egg Wreath a few weeks ago to go over our mantel. Then I made a rainbow butterfly banner to hang underneath. So as I was contemplating Spring wreaths, I knew I needed to make a matching paper butterfly wreath!

DIY Spring Wreaths

Simple Modern Rainbow Wreath

I love a simple idea. I used the same butterfly die cut and cut butterflies out in 12 different colors for this butterfly wreath.

Three Dimensional Butterflies

To make the wreath more interesting, I cut out two butterflies for each butterfly. This gives the impression of the butterfly flying! I also cut out two butterflies out of each of the 12 colors of paper. So to make the wreath the way I did you will need 4 butterflies of each color paper.

Supplies to Make a Rainbow Butterfly Wreath

You only need a few materials to make this rainbow wreath!

• 12 sheets of colored of card stock (each sheet is a different color)
• Sizzix machine. You can also use a butterfly punch or use a Silhouette machine.
• Glue Dots
• Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
• Grapevine Wreath

How to Make a Butterfly Rainbow Wreath

It’s super easy to make this wreath! Here are the steps to make a butterfly rainbow wreath:

Pick Out the Colors

Make this wreath in ANY colors you want! You can make it in one color or dozens!

Cut Out the Butterflies

I used my Sizzix machine and the butterly die cut. I’ve used this same die cut on a few other projects. I will link to them at the end of the post. But you can also use a butterfly punch or you can use a craft cutting machine too.

Decide How Many Butterflies You Need

My wreath form is 16 inches wide. I cut out two butterflies (four total since they are 3-dimension) in each color. 12 butterflies in total.

Assemble Butterflies

Take two butterflies, fold one in half and place it over the matching butterfly. Put a glue dot in the middle of the bottom butterfly and press the top butterfly to attach them together.

Butterflies on Wreath

Arrange the butterflies on the wreath before you glue them on. Evenly place the on the wreath.

Use a glue gun and glue the butterflies on the wreath.

Hang Up Your Butterfly Rainbow Wreath

Hang it up and enjoy!!

Where Can You Hang a Butterfly Rainbow Wreath?

There are a few different ways to display this wreath. I hung it on my kitchen hood since my kitchen and family room are in the same space. I have my rainbow egg wreath on the mantel on the same wall as my rainbow wreath. But I was also thinking about hanging it on my front door. It wold be cute in a kids room too!

Spring Paper Flower Hoop Wreath

Paper flowers are inexpensive to make and you can make them in any color to match your home by using paper that you love! Make a Paper Flower Wreath for Spring

Spring is the perfect time to make a paper flower wreath! This spring wreath is easy to make plus the metal wreath form is modern and so pretty!

Spring Paper Flower Wreath Supplies

Here are the supplies needed to make a spring paper flower wreath.

• Metal Wreath Form
• Scrapbook Paper
• Sizzix Vagabond Die Cut Machine
• Sizzix Flower Die Cut
• Glue Gun

How to Use a Die Cut Machine to Create Paper Flowers

I have made paper flowers by hand and while it is super fun, creating intricate flowers really elevates your wreath. Of course you can cut flowers out using a craft cutting machine like a silhouette or cricut, but if you don’t have a craft cutting machine, there is another solution! Die cut machines have been around for a long time. I’ve had a Sizzix big shot for about 10 years. I recently started using the new Sizzex Vagabond electric machine. And let me tell you, it makes creating paper flowers even easier! I thought it would be fun to share how to use the new Sizzex Vagabond electric die cutting machine.

Familiarize Yourself With the Die Cut Parts

The Vagabond has a main unit. By pushing the tab in the middle of the unit, the two sides fold down, revealing the inside of the unit where the die and parts go through the machine and the paper is cut. Included with the Vagabond are:

• Pair of Standard Cutting Pads
• An Expanded Platform
• An Extended Wafer-Thin Die Adapter

You use different pads and adapters with different dies. There are instructions on both the dies that you purchase and on the cutting pads to tell you which cutting pad combinations work for the dies you are using.

Assemble Paper Flowers

The die cut I used is the Thinlit Flower. It consists of 5 layers – the outer petal of the flower, the inner petal of the flower, two smaller insides shapes and a leaf shape. When using a die cut machine you will cut out each layer separately. Decide what pattern paper you want for each layer of the flower. Then cut paper to the size of the plate. Layer the paper over the die cut and sandwich it in between the cutting pads. Run the pads with the die and paper through the Vagabond by pushing the button on the top of the machine.

Cut Out Paper Leaves

Once the paper flowers are cut out, begin cutting out the paper leaves. Cut out as many as you want to add to your wreath.

Attach Paper Flowers and Leaves to Hoop Wreath

Assemble each flower by using a pencil to roll the flower layers up toward the center and hot glue each layer together.

Use Paper Behind the Flowers to Attach to Wreath

Because this wreath form is very narrow, it can be harder to attach the flowers to the wreath than it is with a traditional wreath form. I found that to attach the flowers and have them hang straight, I needed to put a square of paper behind each flower to anchor the flower to the wreath form. Once your flowers are assembled, place a small square of paper under the wreath form. Add hot glue and then put the flower on top of the paper square. I did the same thing with the paper leaves. I cut out a narrow rectangular piece of paper and put it under the wreath form, Then I put hot glue on top of the wreath form and paper. Then I placed the leaves on top of the paper, fanning out away from the flowers.

Hang Paper Flower Hoop Wreath

After the flowers and leaves have been glued on the wreath it’s ready to hang! If you want to hang the wreath on your wall or a door, just use a length of ribbon, tie it at the top of the wreath and hang it up.

Enhance a Letter Board with a Paper Flower Hoop Wreath

I used the paper flower wreath I created to enhance a letter board and placed it on my mantel. I love the way it looks with the spring saying in the middle. It really gives my mantel a finishing touch for Spring!

Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home for Spring

Hello! I am so glad you stopped by! If you are visiting from Zevy Joy – welcome! I love Annie’s home and I am so excited for her family’s new adventures! Today I am SO excited to share some easy DIY projects and ideas that I created to refresh our home for Spring! This is the first spring that we have been in our 1891 home since our kitchen, family room, laundry room and pantry remodels! It was so much fun to add some spring elements to those rooms. We are almost done with our airbnb remodel downstairs, next up is the bathrooms upstairs. But in the meantime, I thought I would give you a tour of our main floor all decked out for Spring!

Spring Ideas for The Porch

Weather you have a big porch, a patio or a small landing, there are some easy ways you can bring spring to your front door! Your front door is the first thing people see when they come to your home so if you only have time to refresh one space, I would say start with your porch!

Add a Wreath

A wreath is an easy way to refresh your door. This one is a Sharpie Egg Wreath that I made last year. I switched out the little sign on the front and it’s still one of my favorite wreaths!

Faux Flowers on the Spring Porch

We’re in Utah and it’s still below freezing half of the time in March. I can’t have real flowers so I added some faux flowers for color.

Spring Pillows on the Porch

Pillow covers are an easy and inexpensive way to add a touch of spring to your home – inside or out! I added some bright pillow covers. I have a super easy 10-minute spring pillow cover tutorial if you want to make some this weekend!

Spring Entryway

I just did a big refresh in this entryway! Check out me Instagram @tatertotsandjello to see what I did. I love the new look. I added a positive sign from my @Pebbles collection, a beautiful concrete candle from my friend Sparrow Candle Co. and some target dollar spot bins and a little plant. So easy!

Adding Spring Elements in the Kitchen

I kept it pretty simple in the kitchen. I added some fresh flowers, a spring printable you can download and a couple faux blooms.

My mom gave me the scottish lavender heart and I love that it brings happy color to our room!

Spring Tablescape

In our dining room I made a little tablescape for Easter! I used a green gingham tablecloth and a purple flower arrangement. I think the green and purple combination is so pretty!

Family Room Refresh

One of the most exciting things that has happened in the last year was this new fireplace!! Can you believe this was once a blank wall?? We installed an electric insert and build a fireplace surround that is built into the planking that continues from the kitchen. I love how cozy the fireplace makes our family room. It’s our favorite place to spend family time and game nights!

Upcycle an old Pallet into a Spring Flower Display

The main thing I did in our family room was I upcycled a pallet I had from our basement remodel by spray painting it white and adding some clips for bottles. I put dried flowers in the bottles so I don’t have to change them out as often but you can totally put fresh flowers in them too!

Spring Coffee Table Centerpiece

This is a super simple project. I turned two frames into a tiered footed centerpiece by spray painting them and adding some pretty scrapbook paper to the bottom. You can get all the details on my Spring Coffee Table Centerpiece post! Just add a vase of flowers and some spring items.

Spring in the Pantry and Laundry Room

This backroom had a big sauna in it when we moved into our home. The laundry room was in the dark basement so I knew I wanted to bring the laundry room upstairs. Plus the fact that the house is four stories tall and our master bedroom is in the attic. So doing laundry meant dragging it down four flights of stairs! We created a wall and put the laundry room on one side and built a pantry with a double oven and fridge on the other side. This is our baking area and we have enjoyed it so much!

Office Craft Room Refresh

I work in my office all day long so I added a few items to give the room a spring feeling!

Spring Mantel

I have an original 1891 fireplace in my office. It’s small and sweet and I love decorating it. I created a paper flower hoop wreath, put it in front of a letter board with a spring saying and added a couple of banners and faux flowers.

Now we have made a loop and we are back at the front of our home! Sometimes it seems like our remodel is taking forever, but when I look back at a year ago and see everything that has happened I am amazed and so grateful! Thank you for stopping by!
