Happy January, friends! I don’t know if you’re like me, but I get a little sad to take Christmas down. A few years ago I discovered that if I replace Christmas decor with festive Winter ideas, I look forward to starting the new year with cozy winter elements!

Cozy Winter Decorating Ideas: Winter Mantel

The first thing I decorate for Winter is our mantel. But no worries if you don’t have a fireplace, you can use these ideas to decorate a shelf or table instead of a mantel! This year I decorated TWO winter mantels! Let me know which one you like better!

Winter Wonderland Mantel

The first mantel is a winter wonderland theme. I used a beautiful sign from @JoobileeSigns. Isn’t it so pretty? Then I took the winter snowflakes I created for our holiday gingerbread tablescape and moved them into the family room! I hung three above the mantel and put the other ones on a shelf above our sofa. Then I layered some winter trees and candlesticks on the mantel and hung big fluffy snowball garlands underneath!

Snowflake Winter Mantel

The second mantel idea is a snowflake theme! I took the big farmhouse snowflake I made last year and created a new snowflake beaded wreath. I have the tutorial and cut angles to make the DIY snowflakes on this post — Giant Farmhouse Wood Snowflake. Then I used the same candlesticks on the other side of the mantel to balance the big snowflake.

Cozy Winter Decorating Ideas: Cozy Kitchen Elements

I switched out the holiday elements in the kitchen and brought in some plain trees, a cozy sign and added a little domed vignette near the stove.

A hot cocoa station is perfect for winter. Using a tiered tray makes it easy to put out all of the hot cocoa station pieces and it also is cozy winter decor!

Cozy Dining Room: Runner

I kept the fuzzy faux fur runner on the table. It looks so warm and fuzzy like faux snow! I added my little house collections and elevated them on some cake plates for interest. I love that there are several different sizes, different materials and colors!

Candles give a cozy glow! I love the way these metallic votives glow and add a warm color that feels so cozy.

I also kept the cozy faux fur throws on the bench and the sweater pillows. I love the way the different neutrals add cozy texture. It’s such a warm and cozy spot for winter meals together!

I usually hate this time of year. I love the snow until Christmas and then I’m ready for Spring!! But this year I’ve decided to embrace the snow. So I am sharing this snow-inspired mantel idea. It’s perfect for this time of year.

I took some paper from my Home+Made line and put it on a wood box from The Wood Connection that was painted black. Then painted some snowflakes, also from The Wood Connection white and hot glued them onto the wood boxes.

I think they’re really fun with the snowflake pillows I cut out with my Cricut machine and ironed onto pillows for my porch at the 1905 Cottage !

So instead of dreading the snow, embrace it with some fun Snowflake decor!
