Amazing Summer DIY Home Ideas

Happy weekend, friends! How was your week? Ours was great. We are right in the middle of my kids’ bathroom remodel. So things are at that messy stage where you wonder if it will ever end but you’re excited because you hope it’s going to look so great! Haha!! Heres a picture of what the bathroom looks like today!

And here are a few inspiration photos of what I hope the space will turn out like!

Here’s a bathroom with a similar layout of what I am looking to do. We will do a large walk-in shower across the room with two pony walls and custom glass door and sides. I am also going to do brass fixtures.

My friend Joyfully Green did this amazing bathroom and I love the marble scallop backsplash! I am also doing a flower tile but on a smaller scale. I also love the painted beadboard behind the vanity!

If you have a small closet, you know the frustration of having to reach around the sliding doors to see what is on each side. This DIY replaces sliding closet doors with standard doors that pull out so you can see EVERYTHING inside. Believe me, it’s worth doing!

DIY Privacy Screen and Subway Tile Planter Boxes

If you want a little more privacy on your porch or patio, you can create an easy privacy screen with old doors. I find mine at my local salvage yard but you can also find some for free by asking on social media or on a site lite freecycle.org. Then I made some matching subway tile planter boxes to anchor the privacy screen in place!

Corded Pillow Tutorial

Have you ever made your own pillow covers? It’s so easy. I have a tutorial on how to make 10-Minute Pillow Covers. This tutorial takes those covers and adds cording which makes them seem super custom. Pillow covers can transform a room so easily and it’s the perfect DIY project for summer.

Things I Love This Week

Happy weekend, friends! How was your week? Mine was good! This week Pumpkin had her first round of blood work and the good news is she gained a pound and a half last month which is amazing!

She’s doing so well! The big project I worked on this week was painting the tall french doors that are between my office and the family room.

I think they’re going to look so great! I ordered a new doorknob and It’s going to be so pretty!

This week I have also been working on painting more of the window frames in our home black. I have a post all about what types of window frames you can paint, what kind of paint to use and tips on how to do it. Painting your window frames can save so much money over buying new windows!

Winter is the perfect time to work on home DIY ideas! This week we have some great projects to share that are perfect to make this time of year!!

How to Make 10-Minute Pillow Covers

One project I love making is pillow covers. Changing out your pillow covers can completely change the look of a room and they are so fast and inexpensive to make. I take the old covers off and store them and use the pillow inserts.

How to Add Pendant Lights with No Remodeling

Another project that is so easy and makes such a difference is adding pendant lights over your kitchen island! Did you know you can add pendant lights where a recessed can light is without ANY remodeling. It’s so easy and inexpensive to do! One of the things I love most is COLOR. It turns out that there are a lot of people that do too. My COLORFUL ideas always do well. We built a NEW mantel and shiplapped two of the walls in the family room. It was fun to share colorful ideas against our new mantel.

I spray painted pots and hung boards so that I could use the vertical space. We ended up spending TONS of time in our back patio during quarantine with my daughter being home-schooled. It was nice to have flowers blooming in our patio.
